4 Days Gluten Free

Bellanovia

Recommended Posts

Bellanovia Newbie

how is it possible that I immediately started feeling better. I went from 15+ bowel movements a day, to one every two days. Yes in four days I have had 2 movements. I am in no pain, my bloating is gone. I feel lighter, happier, and healthier. in FOUR DAYS?

I know long term healing wise I probably have a LONG way to go. Could I be doing this in my head?

I am still cross contaminating by giving my kids kisses without fully rinsing their mouths..and I can tell each time I do because I break out in a fiery itch that lasts about an hour..so I am trying to cut out their gluten..as much as is financially possible ( bread is hard since they love sandwiches/french toast/toast and bread is ridiculously expensive)

anyways..and I dreaming?

Yes, it can be that fast. When I went gluten-free, I woke up on the third day of gluten free and the headache that I had was gone. I had this headache for 2 years. The water weight and bloating I had was gone. Over time all of the symptoms in which I had complained to doctors about for about 5 years was gone. I only get these symptoms if I get gluten. Been gluten free for just over 2 years and will continue to be for life! Welcome to the gluten free world!!!!

As to bread Bellanovia..... The EnerG lite tapioca loaf runs about $2.50 online. It's better if lightly toasted but it isn't bad. It also doesn't contain any soy which I have a problem with. Furthermore, it doesn't have to be kept frozen. Just keep it unopened in it's orig. pkg. in a cool, dry place until you need it. Then I open it, put it in a big ziplock & keep in the fridge. Hope this helps.

I've been gluten-free for almost two weeks. My stomach is better and the abdominal pain is gone, but I have been having horrendous headaches. At work today I nearly tossed off my headset, crawled under my desk, and assumed the fetal position! I spent the whole weekend with my head buried in pillows and blankets over my head... I hope I'll be feeling as good as you soon!

Hang in there Christen. I have not experienced such as you but have read many posts of people who did so just try to tough it out. It WILL get better!

Be very careful of cross contamination (cc) & watch for those hidden glutens ~~~ it's a minefield out there. The learning curve on this stuff is very steep, VERY STEEP.

Congratulations on feeling better!

My headaches went away fast....and I never thought I would be free of them.

It is amazing.

Just be aware that CC is an issue and it can get worse over time.

This was a scary realization to me.

Now I know how to deal with it, but in the beginning it was like...are you serious? I can't even butter toast for the nieces without getting sick?

Read a lot on here...this really helped me figure out how to avoid getting sick.

You are going to have fun watching yourself get well. Things you never dreamed were related to gluten will get better too. Happy for you!

I haven’t had any noticeable reactions to salt so I will continue using it. I think I just freaked out when I realized this but it doesn’t cause me any discomfort- so thanks!

Ok, thanks. I'm so glad to hear you are in the hands of a dermatologist. I hope he/she has given you 1) a diagnosis; and 2) a plan of care with a couple of options so that you have buy-in and comfort with it. I have some ideas, but not having seen the abscesses or you in person, it doesn't really make sense for me to kind of ... speculate further. But your question was regarding gluten, and you've gotten a couple of other follow up questions and answers that are good, including the idea to keep a food diary. Let us know if we can help further or answer any other questions. I'm sorry you're going through this, it sounds very painful.

@plumbago They appear as boils. They are big, like the size of a nickel--quarter, and they hurt when I touch them. I have gone to the same derm for them over and over and she thinks my body is colonized by a bacteria, but even after using hibiclens all over my body they come back.

Welcome to the gluten-free community! It’s great to have you here. While gluten sensitivity or celiac disease can indeed cause skin issues, such as dermatitis herpetiformis (a blistering rash), abscesses in areas like the lower buttocks or thighs are less commonly linked directly to gluten. However, chronic abscesses could be a sign of an underlying immune or inflammatory condition, which might be worth discussing with a healthcare professional. Some people with gluten-related disorders also experience secondary issues like bacterial overgrowth or immune dysregulation, which could potentially contribute to recurrent infections. It’s always a good idea to explore all possible causes, including gluten sensitivity, with your doctor. In the meantime, keeping a food and symptom diary might help identify any patterns. Wishing you the best on your health journey!

You say you have gluten sensitivity? Have you been officially diagnosed with celiac disease or do you refer to NCGS?
