Long Term Issues & Good Doctors In Montreal?

Hello,

Thought I would sign up on this forum as I am really stuck currently with medical aliments. I have a history of food intolerances, chronic pain and chronic depression. I recently moved to Montreal and have been relatively ok. Currenlty I am on a month long flare up stuck in a vicious cycle of GI pain and debilitating anxiety. I have been on a Gluten free, Dairy free and corn free diet for many years now. I am beginning to be suspicious of cross contamination in my kitchen as I live with 4 roommates. I am in my mid 20s and very nearly stuck inside my home. Tried to purchase groceries today but had to drop the items I had selected and run home in a panick. Recently I had joint pain flare up so bad I was pretty sure I had lost the use of my arms. I purchased a very ergonomic mechanical keyboard, Dragon Speech software and invested in some good wrist braces. The pain was perfectly symmetrical and some days it would affect my ankles symmeterically as well. Sometimes just walking to school would induce a limp in under 5 blocks. This joint pain seemed to go away completely followed by what seems a giant flare in all my other symptoms. Currently in my mid 20s with lactose intolerance since I was 9 years old. Followed by Gluten, Caseine, corn and now what seems to be fructose malabsorption.

Do you think my doctors could have overlooked such a diagnosis as celiac disease?

Anyone know of a celiac disease aware doctor in Montreal?

Has anyone had luck with the home test kits? Did anyone find that these helped motivate a doctor to look into celiac disease more thoroughly?

Anyone get horrible Anxiety flare ups? If so do you take medication? I was prescribed Clonazepam but it contains 80mg of Lactose filler.... Doh

Anyone have issues with symmetrical joint pain?

Symptoms:

Gas/Bloating after fruit and/or fruit juice. (Fructose Malabsorbtion?)

Intense pain and cramping for hours from any amount of Lactose, Casine, Corn and Gluten

Joint Pain with a recent flare up in both my wrists that I couldn't use my hands.

Continuous flipping between what seems like IBSD and IBSC

Horrible fatigue, Fogginess

Mouth Ulcers on a Monthly if not weekly basis

Dry irritated eyes

Light sensativity

What seem to be never ending tension headaches

Chronic Depression 10+ Years Psychiatrists are baffled. No responsive to anti depressants

General Anxiety that flares up along with other symptoms

Thank you. I already cut out dairy and eggs because I found out I was having a problem with them. To be honest I’m just getting worn out 😂

Hi Kitty, thank you for your e mail,  I have seen a nutritionist who seemed to be happy with the food diary I had been keeping and nothing was mentioned about extra vitamins, and I’m still using milk etc . The steroids seem to be working and everything is functioning as it should however,  the course of tablets finish at the end of February and I have an appointment with the consultant early April probably followed by another endoscopy, as far as I’m aware I have not been tested for vitamin B and will definitely discuss it with the doctor on my next visit.

It might be understandable to say "friends or family weeded me or you out of their lives". Some people are fearful of getting out of their comfortable known lives and having to make changes to accommodate another.   If they are too uncomfortable to walk a mile with me, I shake the dust off my feet and journey on.  They're just not ready to learn that lesson.  But you confidently keep going on your journey.  They can catch up later.

You might also be sensitive to other things while you are healing. Dairy, for example. It won't harm you from a celiac standpoint but is inflammatory and could be bothering you. Have you been keeping a food & symptom journal? Might be worth it for a week to see if you notice something you are eating prior to the times you feel your worst. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Someone recently recommended Superfoods for looking up recipes free of allergens or intolerances.  It's a web site but there's also an app.
