Its been a little over 6 weeks since Ive been gluten-free and Ive been eating the same things over and over because I know they are safe. Well its time for me to venture out and try new things. I bought me some cream of rice. I know its similar to oatmeal and needs some doctoring up to make it tasty. Well I doctored it up with some fresh blueberries and a bit of maple syrup. Its still gross! Maybe Im just not a cream of rice person. I also got me some granola to eat and OMGosh its so good but expensive. Our budget will not allow me to buy it often but wow its nummy! Anything you can tell me to try will be greatly appreciated it. Im willing to try anything.

We are not gluten-free in our house (yet), but I do a lot of whole and clean cooking, perhaps you could try a simple home made 'sweet rice' instead of processed or packaged 'cream of rice.'

I always make extra rice, so leftover rice is aplenty in the fridge.

I divy up the (cooked white or brown) rice into small plastic containers about 1/2 cup each.

Sprinkle with cinnamon

drizzle honey or other sweetner

add blueberries or strawberries or other fruit

(my husband puts pineapple and nuts)

sliver or dab of butter if you can have it.

splash of milk product (we use soy...vanilla soy or almond would be great!)

and store in the fridge.

Its traditionally a dessert, but I let my son warm it up for breakfast as a warm rice cereal.

That sounds good! Im definitely going to try that. I can't do white rice, it makes me sick. But I love brown rice and just bought myself a rice cooker yesterday.

I wouldn't do blueberries and syrup together on cream of rice. My best recommendation would be some crumbled bacon and syrup together. I also like to stir in a jar of baby food. I also grew up on grits and/or mush for breakfast so maybe it's just an acquired thing eating something of that texture.

I love cream of rice with butter and pepper, just like grits! Or sprinkle a little cheese.

If you want it sweet, I like it with butter and honey.

I also make it with milk or half and half, then it's really creamy, kind of like cream of wheat.

Make sure your cream of rice cereal isn't actually rancid. I've gotten some bitter, rancid rice cereal on occasion. If yours is bitter, it's gone bad.

I am sad...you make me want to cook up a batch, but I am in the first weeks of grain-free living. {sniffle}

Use it for breading! You'll be so surprised!

I'm a lousy cook, but I wanted to make rice pudding once. I don't like raisins, but I had some organic blueberries. What I did was make the rice, add the blueberries, then I stirred in some ICE CREAM, vanilla of course. Then I baked it. It came out really good! It was so easy I would do it again, except I found out I am still so salicylate senstive that I can't eat any kind of berries. :(

I never liked cream of anything cereals, but maybe the blueberries and ice cream thing would make yours more tasty? (Although I like the bacon idea a lot.)

FASANO DIET - not Dasani. For some reason, it is not allowing me to edit my post.

Yes, she should be eating lots of gluten daily...4 slices of wheat bread would be ideal for the screenings.

Hello,  I cant get my daughter's TTG IGA antibodies to drop into the normal range. A bit of the backstory : both my kids were diagnosed in July of 2023. Both were >250 at diagnosis.  My son went from >250 July 2023  to 33 Nov 2023  to 15.7 July 2024. With <15 being negative. He is almost there.  My daughter went >250 July 2023 to 66.3 Dec 2023 to 31.7 July 2024 to now back up to 35.6.  We are a fully gluten free house and we do not eat out AT ALL in any restaurants other than one dedicated gluten-free bakery. We don't eat any oats. She takes anti epileptic drugs / vitamins so we are double checking all medications and supplements. One medication says they should be gluten free but cant guarantee excipients aren't contaminated so we will be changing that one to a different manufacturer.   Feeling a little worried that her levels are worse and we cant get her into the normal range. We are thinking about cutting dairy or doing the Dasani diet. She doesnt eat a crazy amount of processed food and what she has in gluten free certified and not made in shared lines but maybe we should cut it all out until her levels drop? Any other advice? We will check all personal products also, but we believe everything is gluten free. My son is away at school so trying to figure out what she does and eats that he doesnt. Chickpeas (canned), dairy (he doesnt eat much dairy due to acne) and of course her medications.   Thank you for any input you may have.

She finally has her appointment today. They said in their opinion it’s likely celiac. But repeated the bloodwork today. Her frost bloodwork was weak positive 5.3 (4-10 is a weak positive) Dr wanted her own labs. And they will be calling us to schedule the endoscopy.  They told her to keep Eating gluten. She has been eating is again for the last couple weeks.

Agreed. Dairy is just as bad as gluten for me.
