Has anyone contacted TAP Pharmaceuticals to find out if Prevacid is gluten-free?

Any bad experiences?

According to the Delphi List it is gluten free. I have not personally called them though.

Thanks. I didn't see them on the Delphi list, but I did manage to get through to the company. They verified that all formulations were gluten-free.

I know that this is a really old question, but I just wanted to respond because this is an issue I am having right now. I called the company and asked them if Prevacid was gluten free. After several minutes she said she would have to call me back. She called back and said, yes, they are gluten free. I called the pharmacy and asked them to read off the ingredients, one of the ingredients is "starch". I can tell you for a FACT they are NOT gluten free. If they are then why have I been so sick this week since I started taking them. I tried an experiment. I didn't take them for a couple of days, I got better, I took one this morning at 7:00 am, and I just got out of the bathroom AGAIN It is now 2:30. I have had terrible cramping, back pain, and headache. Not to mention feeling like I have been run over by a truck. All symptoms that I have when I have been glutened. They may have changed their formula now that corn has gotten so expensive, and that "starch" in there is now wheat..... But I have no doubt in my mind they are not gluten free.

Prevacid is indeed gluten free. Although you might be reacting, but your reaction in not gluten related in Prevacid.

I was also told Prevacid was gluten-free (by the manufacturer), and did not have a gluten reaction to it.

      Correct. I’m doing both in the same go though. Thanks for clarifying before I confused someone. I’m doing a colonoscopy for something else and then they added the endoscopy after the test.

      It is a biopsy but it's not a colonoscopy, it's an endoscopy.

      Well I’m going on the gluten farewell tour so they are about to find out lol. I keep saying biopsy but yeah it’s a scope and stuff. I’m a dummy but luckily my doctor is not.

      The biopsy for celiac disease is done of the small bowel lining and in conjunction with an "upper GI" scoping called an endoscopy. A colonoscopy scopes the lower end of the intestines and can't reach up high enough to get to the small bowel. The endoscopy goes through the mouth, through the stomach and into the duodenum, which is at the upper end of the intestinal track. So, while they are scoping the duodenum, they take biopsies of the mucosal lining of that area to send off for microscopic analysis by a lab. If the damage to the mucosa is substantial, the doc doing the scoping can often see it during the scoping.
