Hi All,

Just a complaint I guess you could say. About a month ago my family went to Chili's for dinner. I have recently been diagnosed with severe celiac disease, so I am very careful about where and what I eat. Upon telling our waitress that I needed a gluten free menu she was very pleased to go and get one for me. I looked on the menu and was happy to see The Ribs available. I ordered with two gluten free sides. Upon returning home I immediately knew that gluten had been in something. I went on line to look up the menu, there I saw The ribs with Original, Memphis Rub or the Stoner Bock BBQ Sauce. I ordered the Ribs with the Stoner Bock Sauce. I looked up the recipe to see if there were any items that jumped out at me, no so I then went to the original recipe for Stoner Bock, it includes malt vinegar.... ah hah! I wrote the company a very nice letter and asked that they remove it from the gluten free menu so that others didnt get sick from it. Well, I received this past Sunday an almost rude response telling me that it was NOT on the gluten free menu, Really now? How else would I have known, I didnt look at the regular menu and it was online even when I looked. I looked at the site menus after this email and guess what, they removed the option for Stoner Bock BBQ Sauce. How horrible that they could not have at least said we didnt realize and yes we will remove it. Sorry for the inconvenience, instead they lied to me. I am very disappointed in Chilis!

I've not had good experiences at Chili's... the only chain of that type in my town. I'm pretty sure the Shiner Bock ribs are NOT on the gluten-free menu... cause Shiner Bock beer would be used in the sauce, right??

The time before the last time I was there, I went thru the whole gluten-free thing w/ the manager and wait person only to be halfway thru my salad and finding a few flour tortilla strips! They told me that the salad mixes are in tubs in the back and somehow some of the mix containing the tortilla strips got into my salad. I didn't eat anymore. The last time I was there, I ordered another salad and told them about my last experience. This time the entire salad was filled w/ tortilla strips!! I sent it back, didn't eat anything, and haven't been back since.

I was diagnosed in November with celiacs and at the time had been tested for multiple vitamin deficiencies. During that time my folate level was 4ng/mL, Although I was told to take supplements, I ended up only taking them for a week or so as they made my stomach upset. I had my blood work redone yesterday and as the results came in I noticed that most of my levels are now normal, but folate level is >24ng/mL. Has anyone else had similar results? If so were you able to figure out why or how to normalize them? I also have been having constant acid reflux since about two weeks into going gluten free (no acid reflux history prior to) that we are trying to get to the bottom of with no answers. Could that be related? Thank you!! Also wanted to not that I am not eating any gluten free processed food.

Did you take a look at my pics that I uploaded?    These rashes is not itchy, but I have seen that people have this too that have celiac and it’s not itchy for them either. I have also heard that sulfur burps are a common things with celiac too.  Yes it can be something else too but it’s to much symptoms that I have that match with either gluten sensitivity or celiac.   Hopefully it’s just gluten intolerance and not celiac.  As I said before I have the gen type for celiac and diabetes typ 1 and the those diseases going hand in hand.    Thanks again Trent for your time to reply, and I wonder if any body else have kind of the same symptoms that I have?

Welcome Connie Smitj,  Did you have a follow up test to see if the treatment for H Pylori was successful?  It's possible to catch it again, especially from a partner.  When I contracted it a second time my wife was tested and was positive for two of the bacteria in H Pylori.

Welcome to the forum, @Connie Smitj! Can you give us a little more history about your celiac journey? How long ago were you diagnosed and how long have your been gluten free? Do you have other symptoms besides quick onset of hunger after eating and gut pain? How long have these symptoms being happening?

I eat a gluten-free diet but hunger pains start within an hour of eating dinner. I  had h pylori infection before I was diagnosed. Occasionally I’ll have bouts of pain. Could it come back or is it just celiac disease?
