Here is a Rachael Ray recipe for herb roasted turkey breast. I make this all the time with chicken breast, too--it cooks more quickly than the turkey breast. Substitute olive oil for the butter that goes under the skin, and use chicken broth instead of butter for basting, or just skip the basting part.
You can leave out the lemon peel if you think it will make you sick (but lemon peel is gluten-free, and it is in some herb and spice mixtures, so maybe you can tolerate it). You can skip the gravy part, too--it IS a good gravy, but the turkey/chicken is SO good, it doesn't need the gravy. (I use brown rice flour to make the gravy, but I think rice isn't on your list of edible foods, right?)
I notice that there is one cereal you can eat. What are the ingredients? Perhaps whatever grain that is in the cereal is something you might soon be able to tolerate as an ingredient in other things as well?
Anyway, here is the recipe:
1 small (golf-ball sized) onion, peeled and coarsely chopped
1 lemon, scrubbed clean
12 fresh sage leaves
Large handful fresh flat-leaf parsley (about 1/2 cup, from 12 stems)
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for oiling pan
1 teaspoon salt, plus more as needed
6 fresh bay leaves
4 tablespoons butter
2 boneless turkey breast halves, skin on (about 2 to 2 1/2 pounds each)
Freshly ground black pepper
(Gravy ingredients--you don't need to make a gravy if you don't want to)
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour (I use brown rice flour here)
1/4 cup apple or regular brandy (recommended: Calvados)
2 to 3 cups apple cider (I use 2, and 1 cup chicken stock)
Salt and pepper
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Oil a roasting pan and set it aside.
Put the onion into the bowl of a mini food processor. Using a vegetable peeler, peel the zest from the lemon in thin strips, being careful not to cut into the bitter white pith. Add the lemon zest to the food processor and reserve the whole lemon for another use. Chop the onion and lemon zest until fine. Add the sage, parsley, olive oil, and 1 teaspoon salt and pulse until it forms a coarse paste.
Put 2 of the bay leaves and the butter into a small pan and heat over medium-low heat until the butter is bubbling. Remove from the heat and set aside.
Put the turkey breasts on a work surface. Carefully run your fingers between the skin and the flesh from 1 end, being careful not to pull it completely off, creating a pocket. Season the turkey breasts generously with salt and pepper. Stuff half of the herb paste under the skin of each breast, and spread it evenly under the skin. Transfer the breasts to the roasting pan, and slide 2 bay leaves underneath each one. (The heat of the pan will release the bay leaf oils and flavor the breast.) Using a pastry brush, baste the breasts with half of the bay butter. Place the turkey in the oven and immediately decrease the temperature to 400 degrees F. After 20 minutes, baste the turkey breasts with the remaining butter, and roast for an additional 20 to 25 minutes, until cooked through, and a thermometer placed in the thickest part of the breast registers 170 degrees F.
Remove from the oven, transfer to a platter, cover, and let rest for 10 minutes before carving while you make the gravy.
Put the roasting pan over the burner on medium heat. Sprinkle the flour over the pan juices, and cook, stirring, for a few minutes. Add the apple brandy, and scrape the pan to lift the bits that are stuck to the bottom. Cook for a minute to burn off the alcohol, then, while stirring, pour in the apple cider. Bring to a simmer, and stir until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
Slice the turkey breast on the diagonal, and serve with warm gravy.
Thank you! I am gonna try that one for sure.
I haven't done well with citrus fruits, but maybe I can try a little and see what happens.
The gravy is out when I am allergic to apple.
The cereal has rice in it and for some reason I can handle that one and the bars which has rice too. But when I eat regular rice I get nauseas. It is strange. Ricemilk gives me a stomach ache and nauseas. I think the only brand I have been able to find has a bean in it too, so that didn't help.
Maybe rice will be something I can get back too with time.

I had that and still get it some, but not as bad as it was. I used to feel like I had to eat all the time. It got better and rarely happens at night any more.
My blood sugar level has always had a tendency to do this my whole life off and on, but not as bad as after I got diagnosed and changed my diet.
I have had my sugar level tested many times and it has always been fine.
I can't eat Vitamins because of this for some strange reason. Since I got diagnosed that is. They make me extremely hungry and my blood sugar drops several times a day. But if I don't eat vitamins I am fine. Strange.
I feel like I have had to, and still do, relearn how my body works. It acts different now in so many ways.
-
It is terrible. About a half hour after I wake up in the morning about twice a week I have nausea. It can last for hours. If I force myself to eat sometimes it goes away. I don't know what to do. No, I'm not pregnant. I have it right now. It is the worst feeling. Sometimes I think I get it after I haven't had much for dinner the night before.
Any ideas on how to get rid of it?
I had that for a year off and on. Mostly "on".
I think it was because I was healing and that I ate something that wasn't working. Have you been eating anything new?
Do you eat Vitamins?
I woke up at night feeling nasty for a long time too. I always had to force myself to eat something and after like 45 minutes or so it got better.
No fun with that Meniere's Disease. I hope you don't have it.
My grandfather had that. On both ears.

My GI "officially" diagnosed me with celiac from a blood test and dietary response but no biopsy. I consider myself lucky. But the truth is "official" diagnosis or not, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck... it's a duck.
Oh, and ESPECIALLY if it poops like a duck! (Anyone with celiac, diagnosed or not, knows EXACTLY what I mean!!!)
Good one with the duck there. I gotta remember that one.
I had negative blood work (but had been gluten free for 3 week), positive results with Enterolab and big results with diet so I was diagnosed with Celiac.

I feel the exact same way. That's why I told my mom that I hate Thanksgiving. One year I went to a former boyfriend's house and his cousin (a chef) kept trying to get me to eat stuff with flour in it. People kept saying, why can't you have this? Or that? I felt SO uncomfortable.
My brother was such a butthead one christmas (he was jealous my grandma made a popcorn cake really fancy from Emeril's recipe and used it for a table centerpiece) and he said in front of everyone "It's all in your head!" I retorted, "Who's talking? The guy who almost died from an ant bite? Where's the Epi-Pen, big fella?"
So, I hear ya! I used to try to bring a friend who would keep me company more than "the rest" of them. I really feel for you. It is terrible. Especially "overweight" people...that's all they speak of.
My recent annoyance is that almost daily, people at work comment on my food at lunch. I just eat alone sometimes.
Every time I feel like I'm normal, someone draws attention to my food, and I feel like a gluten-phobic, my life revolves around celiac disease weirdo again.
You probably know very well what I feel. People do the most amazing things and I have really found out who really cares and who does not from getting this. I eat alone most of the time. My food is okay as long as I don't have to deal with theirs.
----
I made a list of things that I can eat. I really do not know what else to make from all of this. Not many gourmet dinners and nothing that tempts them for sure. They are all about cheese burgers, French fries, butter and bread. They do not eat veggies if it doesn't have butter on it or half a cup of dressing.
..and if you are peckish a tasty salad sure doesn't work as well as potato chips (can you tell I am bitter?).
Lettuce
Bell Pepper
Cucumber
Zucchini
Spinach
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Asparagus
Onion
Garlic
Melon
Honeydew
Blueberry
Raspberry
Blackberry
Coconut (forgot that one so I am adding it now)
Ham
Chicken
Fish
Turkey
(All meats w/o gluten, soy/legumes and dairy/casein/lactose added to it. Also watch out with oils. )
Very Berry Bars
Very Berry Cereal
Olive Oil
Safflower Oil

I am so sorry you got contaminated. Horrible.
I leave in a house full of gluten (with husbands family) and I am super paranoid about getting contaminated. They have no feel for it at all.
Hope you recover quickly.
I am very sensitive too, but don't get quite as sick as you do.
-
I dunno. It is just weird with this family. I feel like if I make demands or try to get respect they all get offended. You are supposed to be quiet about personal things and if someone voices it the others get uncomfortable. I have had times when I try to say something and kinda get punished with getting left out instead. So I feel very much I am the alien here and if they treat me bad and I ask them not to I am the bad for asking. It is all quite strange.
My husband knows. He doesn't say much, or do much. I think he feels it wouldn't do much with them.
I guess they aren't a very talkative bunch when it comes to emotions and it seems some have more rights than others. I am just an in law and that gives me less rights. Some of the siblings have more rights than the other siblings. They usually forget my husbands birthday but would never forget the sisters. She would make a big scene if they did, while my husband says nothing. Just an example.
Families can be very strange.
I tried to talk about traveling and European countries at that Thanksgiving table and it, like I said, all got shot down by what would we eat in that country. I was thinking to my self: what is wrong with you people???
They always eat when they get together and so now my husband and I do not get invited to much anymore. My husband thinks they feel bad having me there. It's like eating in front of a starving person he thought. Hmmm.. (So one gets punished for being sick now.)
I wouldn't do things this way myself if one of them were sick. That is for sure.
So yes, I have talked to my husband. In some ways he understands but in others he doesn't. To him it is not hard to hear a lot of talk about food, so he doesn't think about it. So when I bring it up after, that it was hell listening to them all, he is kinda surprised. He said he didn't even notice they talked about it so much.
No, no Quinoa or other gluten free grains have worked so far. I get nauseas from them all. Even rice. I can have these Very berry Bars (Enjoy Life Brand) that have rice in them with no problems, but anything else I have tried with rice doesn't work. Mystery, but I am VERY happy I can eat them. I don't know what I would do without them actually.
Haven't been able to find probiotics or vitamins that work either. I eat Calcium and vitamin D and the Very Berry bars have vitamines and minerals added to them. I eat like 5 a day of them so I get some vitamines and stuff from them.
I haven't been checked for any other problems. My stomach is actually pretty good when I just stick to my diet. I am hoping to be able to go to a naturepathic doctor next year. There has been other health issues that has been in need of attention before this happens, so I haven't gone yet.
Now this turned in to a whiny post. Didn't want that. I just wanted to rant to get it out a bit.
I try not to think about it all. It gets too hard it I dwell on it. I feel I would get depressed if I do.
Something if for certain though; I do not understand these people very well.
I am hoping I will be able to eat more things with time. I have been able to eat much more spices and stuff since the summer.
Very true that things that are different often times are seen as a threat. I think they just don't know how to deal with it so they pretend it isn't there some how. Or choose to deny it some how.
-
Jenny, are you still following all the things listed in your signature? No gluten, soy, casein, legumes, grains (corn, potato, rice, etc)? I know that makes things difficult....I've been there. Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you.
Yes, I am following all of that. Add on allergic to nuts, almonds and almost all fruits and you end up with like 20 things?
Makes things narrow and food talk not much fun.
I have tried gluten free flours and rice..but that makes me feel nasty too and gives me a stomach ache. Lets just say I am very nutritionally challenged.
Thank you. Warms my heart.
-
Hi Jenny--welcome back!
I think you were right on with thinking that you got it on your hand and consequently some got into your mouth.
I'm terribly sensitive and I react to wheat germ oil, and vitamin E in lotions and things (when the E is derived from wheat). I think some of the alternative oil suggestions are good ones.
Nice to see you!
Yeah, I have to watch out with Vitamin E too. Terrible to be so sensitive, but oh well.

Sorry you also have a family that talks food all the time. It is a social activity. I cart food with me wherever I go.. I sometimes get so tired of doing that but I have no choice. But I have found when I take something interesting they all jump on me & say you can't eat that can you!!!! I have started to take some of the most special things I can think of & I take extras so I can share. It does open up a new world to those gluten eaters...... Also I try to make mine look & taste way better then theres.........jealousy always works ....
I make pretty cupcakes for birthdays parties & have taken my own buger & bun to picnics plus potato salad & marconi salad..... Lasagne that waffles an Italian smell over their house....... Banana bread for breakfast at the local coffee shoppe...
And when they tease me because I can't have something I just tell them --- you are an immediate family member so this may happen to you so don't laugh to loud....& I may not care to help you if & when it does.
good luck
mamaw
hehe I have been trying that jealousy thing too, bummer thing is I am very limited. Way more limited that what it sounds like you are. Grrrr.. I try to make my fried chicken and veggie dish look the best it can ever look. These days I do well with spices and that always help. AND a lot of the time their food doesn't seem that good to me, but I think that it is just the fact that one is "starved" from the limited selection..
..I just gotta be strong. I try thinking that I am healthier in the long run than them for eating so many veggies. Almost all of them have some or a lot of extra weight on them and I don't. Maybe I get some extra years instead. Weird argument maybe, but one gets desperate.
I can't stop them from talking and they have the right to talk about what ever they want...it just seems weird that they do. It's like talking about running a race for a lengthy time with someone sitting in a wheel chair. Just insensitive.
Maybe I'll handle it better with time. I dunno. It sure ain't easy.
-
I'm gluten and diary free, and talk about food all the time! (other people might feel about me the way that you feel about family! ) anyway, it might help if you can bring into the conversation foods that are naturally free of things that you can't have. it may take some time, and you might have to do some cooking to demonstrate what is so tasty, but it can work with some people.
I can eat like Veggies and Chicken...not much of that is interesting for them. They think my food is bunny food. (I have to agree. hehe)
I make soup sometimes: Veggie and Chicken soup...hehe...fry chicken with veggies.... (sigh)
They like everything that I can't have.
I really don't know how that would work to tell you the truth. They are a hard bunch to deal with for someone like me.
-
I am really not doing well with family dinners. Thanksgiving was hell. I can handle not eating Turkey, mashed potato and gravy pretty well, even watching the others eat the stuff (while eating my own food), but my husbands family just LOVES food. So they talk about food almost all the time.
The whole stinking dinner it was all gourmet food talk. Brie cheese with apricots (not that that sounds all that great, but still..I liked Brie now and then and can never have it again.) It was in great detail on how to make it and such. They have like cooking dates every other weekend.
On top of things it leaves me with nothing to talk about with them. They just don't care about my situation or how it might be like for me to sit there feeling left out even without all that talk.
I tried to talk about traveling with one of the members and that all got shot down with "what would we eat in that country", "vegetarian food isn't real food" (I am not a vegetarian, but I don't eat lots of meat because I don't do well on it.) and I can't remember the rest. It was all about food anyways.
I cried a bit in the bathroom actually. Stupid people.
Anyone have such a nice family as mine?
I just needed to rant. I think people understand here more than any other place.
There is a birthday today and they are all gonna have hamburgers and cake and talk food. I am sure. I have a real hard time feeling part of the family. (It is my husbands family.) Not sure what to do, or even if there is anything I CAN do. Just be strong. Nice to get some understanding some place though. From this place. Others like me.
End rant. Thanks for listening.
Jenny
(I should add that my husband wasn't it that talk very much and not all the others either. But the loudest and the biggest. That was enough for making things hard.)

ravenwoodglass: Makes sense. Who knows what else was in that massage oil.
Gluten Free Savonnerie carries a massage oil that is among other things gluten free. I am gonna get some of that and bring in for the next time.
Otherwise jojoba oil would be a good one too.
Thanks for replies and suggestions.

It contained peanut oil at least, and I am intolerant to all legumes (incl. Soy). It "stunk" peanut butter oil. I just didn't think of watching out about that for some reason. I am sure I got some in my mouth because the water bottle have that little thing you gotta pull up to be able to drink and I did that just after I left the place. I just got so stinking sick this time. I have been doing real well for a longer while now, so maybe I just feel the "hit" of cross-contamination harder now. The fall is bigger.
I am VERY sensitive, so maybe it was just the amount I got from my own hand that did it.
I kinda just wondered when they rub it in for so long an use a lot. It's not like the skin isn't penetrable.
Why couldn't a massage oil contain a protein? Seems is the peanut oil is there so would the protein be.
-
Hang in there. Like others have mentioned, maybe you have other food intolerances as well.
It took me a long time to start feeling better. Months before I noticed some changes actually. It came on gradually and one day it hit me I wasn't as tired any more. Then later I realized other symptoms were better or less too.
Now, over a year after I got my diagnosis I feel pretty good. Kinda little like my old self.
It can take time to heal and some feel better sooner than others. Just do as best as you can and you will get better. Make sure to read and learn about the diet. Learn from mistakes and such.
It will get better. I know how hard it can be.
Carafate has helped me lots when I feel sick. I do get cross-contaminated now and then (thank Gd not as often as it used to be) and the Carafate always helps me.

hello everyone! I have been gone from the board for a while, but this place is often on my mind..
Anyways, I was thinking I should start posting again. I miss this place.
I am getting some physical therapy done for my neck and shoulders and I completely didn't think of that the massage therapist used a massage oil that I am sure wasn't safe for me. I must have gotten it on my fingers and then I opened up my water bottle and got it in my mouth that way. I got super sick with D and nausea.
What I am wondering is, if one can get sick from that stuff through the skin if one is real sensitive like me? I have heard it isn't supposed to go through the skin but things do go though the skin....so I wonder.
Anyone have any ideas or thoughts on this?
I am gonna order myself some safe massage oil and bring for my next appointment to be on the safe side.

Well phooey! Still have to get allergy shots for a while. The doctor is going to reduce the amount they give me and will keep me at that level. The risk, according to her, is that I will have less allergy protection. She is afraid to let me stop them alltogether because if my allergies kicked up again I'd have to start all over again with the desensitization process. Don't think I want to do that so I'll give her suggestion a try first. I'm still quite sure that the allergies are caused by one of my myriad of toxicities.
I've seen some at Trader Joe's but it had other ingredients in it....forget what now, but it was something I couldn't have.
What type of allergies do you get shots for? I wish I could get some...
Check out sunbutter.com for Sunflower seed butter. Looks pretty allergy friendly... I saw that they used soynuts in their trail mixes though for those who can't have that (cc issues maybe).
------------
I haven't had one single Banana today and my stomach hasn't been half as bloated/swollen. So far anyways. I actually read that Banana turns into this foam in the intestines..
-
Jenny, I dont' have any problems with nuts or legumes, so can eat any seeds. Art's are my all-time favorites. If you can't find them anywhere, you can put money in my PayPal account, and I"ll send some to you.
Yay! good news!
I am very sensitive to small amounts so I think I'll have to keep on looking.
Thanks fo the kind offer though.
Did you know there is Sunflower Seed butter? I guess it tastes almost like peanut butter. I am tempted..if that company will finally answer my e-mail.
-
I havent taken any vitamins or enzymes in over a year...they mess me up pretty good. I finally gained weight when I stopped taking them.
Someone else besides me that can't handle that stuff..
Ditto on that! Fred Meyers might be a good place too (I spent a month in Juneau and for some reason I LOVED that place!I really like Fred Meyer's too. They are good on gluten free stuff. has started carrying a lot of it. They had Enjoy Life brand before the big health food store in town for example.
I did look at pans there but they only had big sets for way too much money for me.
Jenny, about the sunflower seeds...on my bag of Art's Tender Spice, there are only two ingredients - sunflower seeds and salt. And now I am wondering, are you looking for the kinds without shells? maybe that would explain the peanut oil?And OMG they have Gottshalk's in Alaska? That hideous chain of stores (I do not like them) originated in FRESNO, decades ago......now they are all over - yikes -
Yes, you are right. I only saw the roasted ones (in peanut oil). I am gonna see if I can find the ones with a shell instead. I didn't seem to be able to find any on the page I looked at, but I might have missed them. Thanks for pointing that out.
(Do you have problems with nuts or legumes at all? looks like there might be cc issues at their place from looking at the sight again. I found the shelled ones.)
Yep, we have Gottschalk's here. hehe I don't shop there very much. Strangely enough I have gotten most of my stuff at Fred Meyer's lately. We are low on money, so I don't look much.
I like Eddie Bauer too. I seem to be the only one who does..
---
I caved in on the bars here. I had one. I had to get some carbs. No banana yet though.
How do you all get carbs on the Candida diet?
Another completely different thing is that my husband just got a letter today telling him he got accepted to the Industrial Electrician/Wireman union apprentice program!! Yaay! Means better insurance and more money, besides the fact that it is fun work and he (we) has waited for this to happen for 3 years!!
-
I don't know if either of these is in Anch but I had great luck at Ross and Marshall's.
I know I know, those are clothes stores, but they both have home&kitchen areas too. I got almost all of my pans there for ~1/3rd of the list prices. Big heavy $40-50 pan for $12-15!
Or just semi-fancy $20 pan for $8. Or a decent set for a far lower per-pan price.
The only problem I've had there is when some moron puts the price sticker on the bottom of the actual pan instead of on part of the usual cardboard info attachment. Ugh it's a b!tch to get every little bit of adhesive off.
We don't have any of those but we have Gottschalk's and they have a kitchen area too, so I could look there. Maybe Sears would have some too...

Dear Jenny,
Your body and mine sound an awful lot alike! I can eat some things certain days, and other days I get sick from them. It does not make a lot of sense. I know Lyme can do that. The nausea is unbearable.
I can deal with the fatigue better than the digestive problems. There are times I am so queasy, walking makes me want to throw up! It is pure misery. I hope that my doctor will get the IgeniX tests done. She thinks there could be some LLMDs up in Indy that just do not advertise it. It would be more doable than going to New York for treatment. Plus, I have relatives up near there I could stay with!
You could have Candida. The salad issue could be a mold sensitivity problem. The way things manifest can be so strange. Melons have a lot of mold, and watermelon is high in sugar, that feeds the Candida. Fruit irritates my stomach something awful.
Lyme is not totally out of the question for anyone I have found. Recently, the more I read, the more I am surprised. You just never know! The money issue is a major problem for me as well. You kind of have to do what you can when you are able.
Your gallbladder is a good possibility. I had to have mine removed several years ago. Mine nearly popped before I got it out, because the doctor relied on the tests too heavily. They only have about a 33 percent accuracy rate at best. I pointed that out.
He finally let me see a surgeon. It was not a moment too soon. I found out at my 10-day post-op check-up that my gallbladder was severely inflamed and irritated. That thing could have exploded right inside me! If I had not pestered my PCP and forced him to let me see the surgeon, I could have had pancreatitis and liver problems!
You said you had something in your test. It sounds like sludge to me. That is very dangerous. You need to get your gallbladder removed. This woman I met at the surgeon's office told me I was making the right decision getting mine out. She had been misdiagnosed 15 times in less than 2 months by ER doctors.
Nothing showed in her tests, either. Like me, she was told she was just crazy. As a result, the sludge ate through her gallbladder into her pancreas, causing irreversible damage. She had pancreatitis, which has no cure. The young woman also had liver and kidney problems, as well as a feeding tube in her belly button.
This woman will never be able to have a single drop of alcohol again. It is too taxing on her system. Her daily fat intake has to be below 70 grams daily. Otherwise, severe complications could occur. I am so glad I listened to my intuition instead of everyone around me. Always listen to it. That will never steer you wrong!
Sincerely,
Jin
It is probably that sludge that I have. They saw thick stuff but no stones. I went to the ER ones because of this pain that didn't wanna go away (it was in the middle of the testing and going to that doctor). The blood test were normal so they sent me home. My mother has stones and my half brother had his removed last year because of stone. Grandpa had stones too but never any problems. They saw it after his death.
I'll make sure to ask for the IgeniX test. Thanks.
-
Be sure they use IGeneX for Lyme testing. You can have the test kit sent to your house and take it to your doctor to send in. That will be the only way your doctor will use IGeneX ... they will normally use a local lab, which won't be accurate.
I eat coconut oil on my veggies. It serves a dual purpose ... good flavor and kills candida. It also heats with no problem. I also use safflower oil for cooking.
I agree about the eggs. Don't use Teflon!! It releases chemicals when it heats up ... enough to kill a pet bird. That could contribute to food making you sick.
I'll be using coconut oil more for sure, if my system approves.
I actually just decided to get a non-Teflon pan here this week. Gave my old one up last night. I am going out this weekend to shop for a a new pan (without any coating right?). Any brands that are good that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?
Jenny, I wanted to add that, thanks to Carla's comments on another thread awhile back, I added coconut oil to my diet a month or so ago. I eat eggs for breakfast every morning, and I cook them in coconut oil. When I cook them in olive oil instead, my tummy is not as happy.I now use coconut oil for everything--in recipes that call for butter, for any oil issue, etc. I'm still eating baked goods (low sugar muffins) because I just can't bear to give up sugar yet.
However, because I feel somewhat better when using coconut oil, it leads me to think that I do have a problem with candida. Sigh.
Jin--darn the nausea! I think that's the worst part. I mean, diarrhea is no fun either, but nausea just cripples me, and then I get depressed, and I hate feeling that way.
I miss fun food. I'm trying to adopt the attitude of eating to live rather than living to eat. Food just nourishes me now. Where's the fun in that?!?
Gottcha.
Yep, the nausea is terrible. Commenting on your comment to Jin here, but I know that nausea all too well too.
Jenny - - I am a sunflower seed addict - - it's very serious business in our family (last year, gave my brother a case of his favorite seeds for Christmas, that I ordered online - he was out of his mind)my favorite seeds are Art's, they're made in California, and I eat them all the time - low in salt, they're called "Tender Salt" - - - I've never had any problems.
I checked those out online. Had peanut oil on them. So those are out for me. It is so HARD to fine safe ones for me. Still haven't heard back from that Sunbutter place. I am beginning to think they will not answer.
I love sunflower seeds but actually I have started to prefer pumpkin seeds in some things. I can't eat either plain but I cook with them and do all sorts of weird things with them they are very versitile little suckersSounds like a good idea.
My understanding is that if you do use teflon to use it only at a low temperature and never use teflon that has started to chip, but don't use teflon would be my advice.I have eaten blueberries, just be sure to chew them well which is rather tricky. They are one of the better fruits as far as being low in sugar.
Getting a Teflon free pan this weekend.
Thanks for info about Blueberries.
A candida test was negative or none was done? I don't recall right now what tests were most accurate. If I were u, I'd go ahead and do 1 day w/ no sugar. See what happens w/ 1 day and how u feel the next morning. I'm sure you'll think about bananas the entire time and it might be more doable on the day after u run out of them. Same for the berry bars & watermelon.
The cravings will be there all day, but considering what you've been going thru, isn't a 1 day test worth a try?
Hope your husband catches the limit whenever he goes fishing!!
Garlic mellows a ton when roasted and I think retains all or most of the medicinal properties. Grrrr can't remember the temp/time for that right now but they say wrap a whole head in alum foil. Maybe 250F for 30 or 45 min or whenever it gets soft.
I haven't had a test done yet at all. Just tests at EnteroLab.
Haven't had Banana or Bar today so far. I don't really feel like I ever crave them, well maybe the bars when other people in this house eat pay and candy, I mostly eat them of lack of other things to eat.
Fresh herbs are great in the anti-candida diet. I just about revel in the smell while chopping them. And the chop&freeze will be fine. I keep meaning to do that.Good idea.
Was it Jenny who was eating 7 lbs. of bananas per week???Avoid teflon, aluminum and plastics if you're toxic and have chemical sensitivites.
Yes, I am a freak. I like fruit and have not much else to chose from. Sounds like I need to change that here...
I avoid plastic and stuff. I use glass a lot. Dr Rea said to get water in glass bottles instead of plastic. The glass ones are spendy though. I am gonna get a filter with no plastic on it..they have some at their sight.
"Feel WORSE"??!!!!!!!!It was a no sugar, no yeast test to see if she felt BETTER!
And I think w/ that magnitude of symptoms, 1 day is a decent test, tho admittedly not definitive.
My hope would be that 1 day w/ zero or markedly less nausea would easily lead to 3+ days and all symptoms decreasing.
I am gonna try here. I did have some ham today for breakfast. I had nothing else prepared. It has some sugar in it. I am gonna prepare better for tomorrow and see if I can make it better tomorrow.
I hope I don't get worse.
Luckily my nausea has been better lately. Last year I was nauseas every stinking day.

This is gonna be one long post here. And for everyone else that I didn't give comments; I did read it all. I am just getting overwhelmed by the speed this thread is growing.
Thanks everyone!
----and grrrr part of my replies didn't get posted. I must have messed up.
I am gonna reply on the ones I missed again here.

Coconut oil is really good to use if you can handle coconut.
I do have that. Haven't used it yet though. Good idea.
Tabasco32/Lisa: Good luck at the dentist! Never fun seeing them I think.
I have also had a hard time getting support from my husbands family, which we live with for now. So I know that can be very difficult and depressing. Very. Hope things get better soon.

Oh Jenny one more thing I've gotta ask.
Have u been up to Hatcher Pass? My brother was Chief Ranger up there.
No I haven't been there yet. It is up in Palmer/Wasilla. About 1 h and 20 minutes drive from where I am. I am sure I will go one day though.
We have mostly been to the mountains next to town here. They look lovely green now.
Sounds interesting to be a Ranger.

in Coping with Celiac Disease

hehe I was referring to the food. I really think I can't do much about the relatives.
They are all over weight. Some more than others, but weight has always been a problem and always will be I am sure.
In some ways they are people of good will, if they are in the right mood, but some are just really selfish. My sister in law is the most selfish person I have ever met actually. She is the type that talks to you about her small problems for a lengthy time and then you have some that are way worse.
She was so upset that two of her friends forgot to call her on her birthday when we were all there having a party for her and she had gotten tons of gifts. AND she completely forgot my 30th birthday a couple of months earlier. They all did except my mother in law. So she sat there and complained on her birthday to me...and she had completely forgotten mine. It is just bizarre.
She used to use me as a trash can for her problems. She would come over and just talk and complain about everything and when I finally felt I couldn't handle it (I started getting really sick with the Celiac at that time and could hardly get out of bed)....she got very sour about it.
She is the worst one, but they tend to think of themselves first and have a very hard time to imagine what it is like for others I feel.
Yeah and my sister in law is the one who, told me Celiac isn't a permanent thing because she had read and been told that the body just needs to rest from it a while and then you can start eating it again. I told her that was wrong and told her what I knew..and she got mad and kinda started yelling her point out. Yeah. (freeeak!)
Food: I get really bad from Brussle sprouts and cabbage. I have tried them several times and I always wake up at night and feel really nauseas after. Haven't tried the others in that group yet.
Avocado= very nauseas just from a tab bit, tried many times
carrots= been allergic since I was a kid, had that confirmed by allergy test
Open Original Shared Link (apple, plum, apricot, cherries, almonds, peach, mango...) =allergies, which is a bummer Strangely enough I can eat olive oil, blackberry and coconut.
Sweet potatoes and yams gives me heartburn. I actually cut those out of my diet about 1 month and a half ago. Made a big difference actually.
I need to try cranberries. I wonder if the bars I eat have them maybe...not sure.
mushrooms, green beans, sprouts, peas = didn't work, gives heartburn and nausea. Stomach ache.
winter squash, eggplant, artichokes = need to try those
I have no blender, but I should try the smoothie thing. That is a great idea!
Nuts are all out. Allergy.
Been trying to find pumpkin and sunflower seeds that are safe forever, but they are all from a factory that produces things I can't have. I tried a sunflower seed from a place that had soynuts in the factory too and that didn't work. I was sick for days. So if anyone knows of safe ones let me know.
Pumpkin seeds I can make of course. Is it safe to make in an oven that constantly gets used with gluten and butter?
Need to look into poppy and sesame too.
The Very berry bars has flax and sunflower seeds in them so I get some there but it would be great to be able to eat seeds on their own. I miss that and both my husband and I have been looking around and calling places. No luck so far.
Haven't tried hemp at all. I should look into that. So there is hemp milk?
I tried rice milks and that didn't work. The only brand I have been able to find has a bean in it though.
Not tried lentils.
I did rinse the Quinoa and the rice even. No luck. It's like I can eat one meal of it and the next time I get sick from it. Not as bad as when I get gluten, dairy and soy in to my system, but it is no fun to feel nauseas and have a stomach ache.
I have tried Enjoy Life
