  1. I'd love to see some survey's from this site and publish the data from what the celiac's on this site think about stuff like this. Like how often do they think they get gluttoned or how long do problems last when they do. 1000 people can't all be wrong...
  2. About once a month I get diarrhea for a couple days along with a lot more pain. The only thing I can think of is that either I get something like Crone's or something acting up or I'm get glutened somehow. My question is how long do episodes typically last when you get glutened? For me if that's what's happening it's a couple really shitty days and maybe...
  3. This is starting to get into the far fetched range, but cat food often has gluten in it and one of my cats likes to drink from my water glasses I have laying around after she eats. I switched my water glasses to have lids.
  4. I just was looking at some chocolate I've been buying for the past year, barkThins, and I now see on the label: May contain wheat. I sometimes have been buying things not labelled gluten free, but checking ingredients and then usually double checking on the internet to make sure it at least has the label: no known ingredients with gluten are in the item...
  5. If your household isn't gluten free all sorts of problems can occur. For example, if your husband makes a sandwich or something bread crumbs can go everywhere and you might not even think to check for them. For example one time I made something and I noticed a few crumbs in the bottom of the measuring cup I was using and without thinking I ignored it. ...
  6. I also have some problems with my throat. I don't think it's related to my celiac disease, except that the pain I have in my abdomen makes me nervous and my throat problem seems to happen when I'm nervous.
  7. My antibodies went from 250+ to about 22 after 9 months. Does she use lip balm or lipstick that has gluten in it? I even changed my hand cream as that often has gluten in it. It sounds like your doing all the things right on diet. As a general rule spices are gluten free. Soya sauce is one thing that usually has gluten in it that isn't obvious.
  8. I just read an article saying it usually takes 2 years to recover from celiac disease after going gluten free. Is this accurate? I'm pretty sure my doctor told me 3 weeks or something at the time, but I highly doubt that is accurate as I still have problems and I'm well over a year gluten free. The antibody test they do for celiac disease still was positive...
  9. OK thanks a lot. I was a bit worried. They recommend that they should be rechecked once in the first 3-6 months and then after a year and yearly after that, so I was concerned that maybe they were supposed to go to normal after 3-6 months.
  10. About 8 months ago I was tested for Tissue Transglutaminase Ab IgA and scored over 250. I still have been having problems so I asked to be retested yesterday and scored 22.3, which is still higher than the 12 that they compared too check if you have celiac disease. Does this mean gluten is likely still getting into my diet? I think I've been very thorough...
  11. Yeah, I'm pretty new to this stuff. 2 years ago I was blaming all of my problems on a hernia I had, so I my success rate as a doctor is pretty low ?. Things seem to be getting worse and accelerating, so something should show up soon. Hopefully it is just the pain meds and or some flaws in my diet. Another month should give me some more info. I'm going...
  12. Thanks for all of the advice. I only had the blood test done for my diagnosis: Tissue Transglutaminase Ab IgA which I scored over 250. Due to problems with the health of my father I was not around immediately after the test, and apparently they do something to check for gluten in the stool before and after a biopsy, so my normal confirmation for me was...
  13. I've been gluten free for 2 months now and I seem to be having more abdominal pain problems than I did before I quit eating gluten. I've been thorough avoiding gluten, but possibly I've had a few things with vinegar in them for example that I possibly could have reacted too. It seems from what I've read on this forum that I quite possibly have more issue...
  14. I just wanted to thank everyone for posting and responding to these kinds of posts. I'm only about 8 weeks into being gluten free and I also get discouraged by the lack of progress. My first 3 weeks were pretty bad, and then I seemed to get a bit better, but now I'm back again to pretty bad. Reading through these posts helps keep me calm and gives me some...
