  1. I have always had a hypoglycaemia problem. It reared up recently, post diagnosis, but I noticed it is now the two days before my period is due. Going to a paleo, lower carb and higher fat style diet has helped my blood sugar levels stabilise like never before. Wish I'd known of this years ago.
  2. This! Excellent advice that corresponds to my experience and understanding.
  3. Thanks for the reminder! I probably do need to keep a journal. Watching everyone else eat xmas food whilst I nursed a glutoned gut really did my head in. A journal to look back on would help. I watched Youtube videos on LCHF and keto to cheer myself up. ?
  4. Elf, I am feeling way more tired and lethargic than ever since going gluten-free. As cycling_lady has drummed into me, my body needs to heal. I suspect I have been Coeliac for decades. I have noted that I cannot tolerate lactose at all. I knew that before diagnosis, but since then, my body has been violently emphatic about it! I also react just as badly...
  5. Thanks Ennis_TX. I saw the dr today and she wants to do fasting blood glucose, another iron level and for me to record my blood pressure twice a day for a week. I am trying to chill and let my body do what it must. It is so much smarter than me.
  6. Hi all. I have spent the last few days trawling through the forum for reassurance. I think what I am needing is some hand holding. It has been 3 months since diagnosis. I have eaten out only 5 times since then, and only gluten-free dedicated/accredited places. I am super careful at home with CCing. I have a nutritionist working with me and he...
  7. The more research I do into the LCHF type lifestyle, the more I am aghast at the Standard Western Diet. I am feeling significantly better on the same plan as you. Oh, how much damage prevention could take place if others knew of clean, heathful eating...!
  8. Cyclinglady has good advice. I have taken up a paleo-keto(ish)-clean food diet to help heal my intestines. I feel better for it. But I do eat sweet potato. All my food comes from nature's packaging and have one single ingredient. Helps me isolate what might cause me GI distress. Plus, I have no desire to pay through the nose for processed gluten-free...
  9. Fully concur! Meat and veg are the bulk of my diet now and I am of the belief we have been fed a pack of dangerous lies. The processed food... I will not start myself on this, but I am ANGRY.
  10. Also consider blood sugar levels. I tend to get pins and needles more after a few hours of eating anything high glycaemic index.
  11. I spent all morning reading this thread. Came at the right time. I am becoming a more chilled out self, though it is a very slow process. A relief to know it isn't just me.
  12. Thanks, John. Only 6 weeks into it. I think my body has been really worn down. Things ARE slowly getting better, though. Lactose is a definite no!
  13. Thanks all. I know apples, pears and peaches cause reactions; both digestive and skin related. I am dangerously allergic to pineapple. I can down a small amount of cream, butter, hard cheese no problem, but other cheeses and milk cause gas and the runs. Everything else seems ok. I have not tried a hay fever tablet again. A bit scared...
  14. Thank you, sweet lady. I think the seriousness of this disease is missed by many; myself definitely included, sad to admit. Your fractures provide the proof that it is indeed a grave situation.
  15. Sigh. Yup. I see your point. I have patches of osteoporosis, so my results told me Friday.
  16. Thanks, CL. I found that useful. I really need to reign in myself. You are right; I am pushing too hard for 'normality'. Part of it is to prove to my work that I AM a useful member of the team and that they need to have faith in me. Anyway, it is what it is and I need to be vigilant in monitoring what is happening with my health.
  17. What about mock meat? Seitan? Do these contain gluten?
  18. Also, get your vitamin and mineral bloods done at the same time as the Coeliac serology tests. Saves getting another blood test and you know the full extent of any malnutrition.
  19. Today was a hay fever day. I took my usual hay fever tablet. 30 min later, I am feeling very light headed, dizzy and horrible intestinal cramps. The medication packet says gluten-free, and I am smack bang in the middle of my period. Has anyone any pointers to article etc that helps explain why I might be uber sensitive to hay fever medication, fruit...
  20. I think I have found someone who can guide me back to gainz! My weights have been suffering badly over the last 12 mths. Slipping slowly away. Going from 6 days in the gym since 2010, to barely 3 days and half arsed effort. I actually cried a few times just stepping foot inside the door. Now, knowing I am Coeliac, and realising the extent of the damage...
  21. I haven't been actively eating gluten for 10 years. I was off it completely from 2011-2014 for body building comps. I was GRATEFUL to never have to eat gluten again. Very happy to dive head first into my usual eating style. I don't eat commercial cereals and bread, so not really missing much. I am a wholefoods advocate. I work better on such foods,...
  22. I second the wholefoods. Cheaper, more nutritious and versatile. Go nuts with herbs and spices to make dishes work for you.
  23. I have to try hard to stop myself being upset at doctors. To think you could have had a lot less to shoulder... Sigh. I guess your thinking is best; be grateful we find out eventually rather than not at all.
