  1. I’ve seen some other threads on this topic, but was wondering if anyone has tried laser treatments, and|or peels, for scarring? I live in Florida where it’s tank top and short season 10 months out of the year. So it’s hard to cover up - also hard to be comfortable in long sleeves and pants when I want to itch, but that’s another topic. I hate ev...
  2. If you have genetic markers from both parents - you definitely have celiac. In my case, both parents have both markers. Genetically speaking, there was no way out for me. If a person has one marker from their mother, and the same marker is absent in the father, then they have a 50/50 chance of ever developing Celiac. Their habits and lifestyle will decide...
  3. I'm tired all the time. I only discovered that I have celiac a few months ago, and I feel like all I do is sleep. And if I'm not asleep, then I wish I was asleep. Decorating for Christmas this year has been exhausting. My friend has an autoimmune disease, and we were talking about how tired we always are. But we both noticed that it seems like we're...
  4. I think everyone should get a DNA test. Blood tests are not 100% reliable. Not to mention with DNA testing, you learn so many other things about your health. And DNA is the future. Lab work, though useful for many things, does not appear to be as helpful, or as reliable as DNA, with diagnosing so many autoimmune issues. I was adopted, so I did...
  5. Hello! And thank you for your reply! For me, I had genetic testing done and that's how the Celiac was discovered. Given that I have an allergy to wheat, I have been very careful to not consume foods with wheat for the last fifteen years. I thought I was careful about products, as well, but as it turns out I wasn't. I am now using an app "SkinSafe" its...
  6. My (adopted) mom would get those. I am convinced she had undiagnosed celiac... I found out fifteen years ago that I'm allergic to wheat, so I never eat oats just because it seemed like they were somehow related (even though everyone said they weren't - and thank God, because it seems to be like you said...) Also they're often processed in facilities...
  7. I can attest to this. I have zero gut symptoms, aside from a lifelong battle with constipation. Since I was a child, I’ve had a rash of one kind or another, and feel this was my body’s way of coping with celiac. Also, when I had a recent DNA test done, they found I was slow to metabolize, which my doctor said is another DNA marker they keep see...
  8. I'm in the middle of a DH outbreak, and I've been home reading (and reading, and reading, and reading), medical studies and journals, and doing patient research for a few weeks now. Everything I've read, suggests that patients themselves take to eating gluten when on Dapsone - not because this is recommended, or safe - if recommended, but because patients...
  9. Thank you for your response! I took your advice and started going through everything in my house. I threw out anything skeptical, and I've been doing a detox. I also found an app (skinsafe.com) for makeup, hair care, etc., and I have found that several brands of my hair products, as well skincare products, have gluten. As of now, my skin seems...
  10. Hi Everyone! So I'm new around here, and a sufferer of Celiac/DH. I found an app + website called SkinSafe.com and its been very helpful. It lists the allergens + ingredients of each product. I've been suffering for months with a DH outbreak and couldn't figure out why - thinking I had removed all gluten sources entirely, I started looking to my...
  11. So I'm convinced I've had Celiac and DH since I was a kid. That said, I've never had a DH rash this bad. It's horrible. I am wondering - now that I've had a rash this bad - will it always be this bad? Am I now more sensitive to gluten then perhaps I was before this more intense rash? And how long does it keep spreading and getting worse, before...
  12. I would have them keep an eye on your hormone levels - especially your progesterone levels. With celiac, the hormone levels get all screwy and out of whack. And low progesterone is one of the leading causes of miscarriage, and often goes undiagnosed. I have celiac, and I'm convinced my mother had it as well. She, like you, had several miscarriages...
  13. I'll look into the diet! I currently have a major DH rash - the worst of my life! So I'm trying everything. I only recently realized this is DH. I've seen so many doctors over the years and no one ever figured it out. (Which seems to be the norm around here). So frustrating. So one thing worth mentioning - I was a landscape designer for years. I...
  14. You should get tested. Celiac has over 200 symptoms, and each person can present differently. From my understanding, testing while still consuming some amount of gluten is the best way to detect it. But also some people have been tested and will show negative, even though all their symptoms point to positive. Does anyone in your family...
  15. I'm in Florida and have access to medical grade CBD - not the stuff you buy in gas stations - but the 100% pure CBD. I was wondering if this is something that would work, but was too afraid to try, for fear of making it worse and/or aggravating the skin. Thanks for the info!
  16. I get this, too. I don't know about you, but they are equal in appearance - meaning I get in the same sore/spot on both the right and left side of my head. One in particular I've had for over a year... I don't know if its related to the DH, but after all the research I've done, I'm wondering if they just don't heal because my immune system is run down......
  17. yes, through my research I see that. But I've had celiac my entire life, and not one doctor has ever thought to test me. Maybe because of the internet some doctors are educating themselves. But if I showed the rash I have - after looking online - there is no reason a doctor couldn't figure out what it was. I just don't think they are used to seeing it yet...
  18. Hi Everyone, I'm new here. I recently discovered this site after an extensive search of celiac & DH. I recently traveled with my husband and developed a rash. First, it was on my shoulders. Then it spread to the upper skin of my elbows. Then it traveled to my knees. Then it traveled to my ankles. Then it traveled to my hips and lower back...
  19. I have suffered from seizures and migraines my entire life. Most menstrual migraines are caused by one thing - the severe rise and fall of hormone levels in the body during different times of the month, such as cycle start, cycle end, ovulation start, and ovulation end. Typically, this is caused by insufficient hormone balance, and/or deficiency. ...
  20. That's really good to know, too! Thank you for sharing!
  21. Since I found this topic through a google search, I feel the need to respond - even though this post is old, and my response may go unseen - it might help someone else doing a search. Through my research of DH, I've learned that only 20% test positive for celiac through a biopsy. Some people have had to undergo an intestinal biopsy - and even that can...
