  1. Cycling lady - I plan on keeping gluten in my diet for now while continuing to be monitored. Already trialed gluten-free for 5 months last year with no noticeable effect. And yes, I agree non processed foods are much healthier. Rose, good luck with the biopsy results. I hope you have them soon so you can start moving toward feeling better! Whether...
  2. I had a positive deamidated IGG- 33 (reference range 0-20) with everything else remaining negative. I had the endoscopy last week and got the results yesterday- I do not have Celiac Disease. So I would definitely recommend doing the gluten challenge with endoscopy as none of the blood tests are 100% accurate. I will need followup as the high number...
  3. It is awful that the test needed to confirm a diagnosis is what triggers the symptoms. I have read that most people have a tough time with the ramp up for the test and feel quite lucky that I am not having intense symptoms. Although when I initially went off gluten I didn't notice any changes in my body, but 4 months later when I went back on it last month...
  4. LOL. Phew. I'll sleep better tonight knowing that. Thanks ?
  5. cyclinglady, when you say you cannot imagine doing another endoscopy is that because of the weeks eating gluten in preparation for it or because the procedure itself?
  6. You're very welcome. Best of luck.
  7. You mentioned that you've seen an endocrinologist. She/He might be the one to order them although I would think any doctor could as long as they were knowledgeable about interpreting the results. Or is it possible she included it in the blood tests she originally ordered? There is a forum like this one, but for osteoporosis on the Inspire site. I have...
  8. Oops, I see that it was Cycling Lady who was on HRT. CTX stands for C telopeptide and it is one of a group of bone markers used by doctors to assess bone turnover rates (this is my understanding anyway, but I am not a doctor). It is a blood test. But yes, mine was too high so lower is a good thing. DEXA or DXA is the acronym I have seen for...
  9. Hello You two, Golden, thank you for your post on my thread. I am answering you here as i just finished reading this thread and am too struck by the similarities. I am also on HRT with the added bonus of banishing hot flashes after 4 years. I found Lani's book a treasure trove of info. And Keith McCormick's as well. If you haven't read his...
  10. Got it. Thanks!
  11. So, I think I missed my IGA because of how the lab test results were written. I found a different copy of them and directly above the gluten tests is one entitled Immunoglubulin A. My result is 186 within a normal range of 81-463. I just wanted to check with you that this was indeed the IgA test you mentioned to see if I was deficient. Which, if it is...
  12. Hi Again, And thank you for the in depth explanation. Very helpful and i now have a plan for moving forward. I have an appointment with a GI in January who specializes in celiac disease and am hoping i might be able to get in sooner if there is a cancellation. I would be THRILLED to start eating gluten again and will be able to do so without intestinal...
  13. Thank you both so much for all this information. It is extremely helpful. Cyclinglady - I saw the Endo for the osteoporosis diagnosis. And I too am going the HRT, weight bearing exercise, better nutrition route because I was diagnosed within a year of menopause. But, I get migraines, and have been told by a neurologist that I am putting myself at...
  14. Hi All, Briefly, I was diagnosed with osteoporosis at age 57 which led to some tests to determine if there was a specific cause or just your garden variety osteoporosis. One of the gluten tests came back high and I was told by an endocrinologist that i had celiac disease. Tests are as follows (and i am copying them word for word as i am not sure of...
