Gluten Free Cannabis Edibles
Jan Meindfak replied to OnTheBay's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Every product registered as consumable must be tested and provide information on its nutritional value and ingredients it contains, regardless of whether it's cannabis derived or not. Cannabis itself is not an illegal plant, just THC in it. At least that's how it works across the pond. -
Does the Endoscopy Matter?
Jan Meindfak replied to TXMama78's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was absolutely certain that I didn't have celiac disease - goes to show you never can tell! And to be honest, due to my skeptical nature, I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't done the endoscopy. Anyway, good luck and keep us in the loop. Cheers -
Does the Endoscopy Matter?
Jan Meindfak replied to TXMama78's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think it's always better to have the endoscopy. It doesn't matter that much if it's negative with the clearly positive blood work, but if it's positive it's good to know the extent of the damage. It's also helpful at the doc's office - they'll stop asking you to finally do it. I remember when my blood work came back positive, and my then-GI doc said... -
Soft Palate/Palatoglossal Pain/Redness
Jan Meindfak replied to EmilyJ93's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Happens to me every year when the heating season is on. It can actually be allergy to something in your environment - mucus drainage down the throat is typical and it can irritate the back of your mouth as well. Get a good ENT check up and maybe start popping some antihistamines. Cheers -
Looks rather positive to me.

Confusing results! Help
Jan Meindfak replied to Han's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Not only you should start eating some bread for some time before testing like others have already mentioned, but also I believe checking IgA class antibodies in your case is pointless since you're apparently IgA deficient. They should be redone in IgG. Please correct me if I'm wrong! -
No, I mean they don't use sedatives or anything that affects your consciousness in any way. Of course they use local anesthesia, I live in Europe for god's sake
-
Yes, I am sure - I know it may be strange to Americans, but I am not from, nor live in the US. As far as I'm concerned Americans love sedation, you have it even at the dentist lol! It's not like I didn't have a choice - I did and my GI doc had recommended me using sedation to avoid discomfort but I knew I could get through it without it, go home earlier...

No complications at all, except for the regular ones - being gassy and bloated. Upper endoscopy (gastroscopy) doesn't require any special prep except for 6-8 hr fasting. Colonoscopy requires you to take a massive amount of laxative which naturally makes you run...for hours. That's what I hated about it. I was not sedated in any of those procedures...
-
Yeah I'm a super freak apparently. The truth is I wanted to go home sooner, and sedation leaves you on observation for an hour or so after. Anyway, good luck! And get yourself a good book or something for the prep, you'll have plenty of time...😂
-
Preparation is a nightmare - get ready for hours on the throne. But the procedure itself is way more tolerable than an upper endoscopy, for me at least. And I did them both without sedation

Malabsorption and weight gain do not go hand in hand too well. Before being diagnosed I ate like a pig (to make up probably, like you said) and still I was losing weight. So what you're able to eat five chocolate bars after a solid piece of pizza in one sitting, when none of it gets properly absorbed?

do you think celiac was around in ancient times?
Jan Meindfak replied to DJFL77I's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm pretty sure Epicurus had celiac disease, although it might have as well been some other gastrointestinal chronic illness. He and his contemporaries mention it a lot. Hence his philosophy. I've also heard some scientists suspect Blaise Pascal to have had celiac, as he had quite typical symptoms all his life. -
Doesn't look like coeliac disease to me much - at least from those findings. Or could suggest early stage of the disease. There's a chance your doc will not give a diagnosis based on them. IgA is often below normal rather than above in celiac disease patients. But what's more important is that you see improvement on diet - in the meantime while waiting for...

Symptoms for 3 years.
Jan Meindfak replied to TylerB's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Those fasciculations are killing me, good to know I'm not alone! I get them every night, but they get me during the day as well occasionally. Do you still have them, or did they disappear after going gluten free? I'm asking because I've been on a diet for 8 months now, and despite having normal antibodies, every vitamin and mineral, and even electromyography... -
Tabs of acid and gluten
Jan Meindfak replied to Shamangirl22's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You really shouldn't speak of something you've clearly got no idea about. Acid and shrooms are not hard drugs! In fact, according to World Health Organization shrooms are the safest drug on the planet - which is pretty far from being a "hard drugs". Just stay safe, test what you buy, find a nice place and right time and you'll be just fine. Even... -

Go for shrooms. 100% gluten free and natural. -
Diagnosis?
Jan Meindfak replied to Jan Meindfak's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yep, I've just come back from GI doc, and it's celiac. Tested for RF which came positive, so I'm seeing a rheumie tomorrow. Anyway, I've officially joined gluten free club -
Diagnosis?
Jan Meindfak replied to Jan Meindfak's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you. I'll do some extra tests to rule out any other possible disorders, and start a diet. I'll check back in when biopsy results come and I consult them with a doc (don't have too much trust to scrubs though anymore). -
Diagnosis?
Jan Meindfak replied to Jan Meindfak's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No, he didn't, and he told me that after, so I couldn't do anything about it. It wasn't the same guy who had ordered endoscopy unfortunately. But there's no way I'm doing it again! So what do You suggest? Start a gluten-free diet and test for antibodies in 3 months? Because I get conflicting information, as dietician today said 90 with positive over... -
Hey all! After dealing with GI problems for years, 4 months ago I decided to finally start doing something about it and find a cause. My TTG IGA came back positive (90 with <20 meaning positive), but EMA IGA and IGG negative, which has left me with solid dose of uncertainty. Genetic test showed HLA DQ 2.5 positive, but I'm still not convinced. Currently...
