Is Toblerone Gluten-Free?
Ivana replied to LovintheGFlife's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I eat toblerone regularly. It seems to be on the OK list for celiacs in my country and I have the impression that we all eat it here. I don't know if anyone contacted the company or if they just assume it's ok because of the list of ingredients that doesn't list gluten, not even as "possible traces". I also eat other such snacks. Of course, it's best not... -
Hello, I think these things differ from person to person, and the number itself is not crucial. Also, maybe different labs have different sensitivity levels, so it's also possible that smaller numbers were actually much bigger and vice versa? My reading of 979 was where regular values are below 20, 20-30 mild positive, above 30 positive. After 10 and a half...

Hello, I felt exactly the same when I was diagnosed 2 years ago. Same anxiety, same thoughts, same behaviours, except that my antibodies were almost a 1000, and Marsh 3C, and I was quite older than you. But now, celiac is for the most part not even on my mind. My antibodies normalised within one year and stayed that way. I eat in dedicated gluten free...

Regression or non responsive?
Ivana replied to Kathryn T's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello, I would like to ask you what you mean by non responsive? Wouldn't it be too soon to tell whether you will get it under control again or not on gluten free diet after whatever caused the autoimmune reaction again? If I understood correctly, the symptoms improved in August? I had two Pfizer shots and I didn't have any reactions and am getting... -
Do I quit for good?
Ivana replied to Cookie2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think that for your friend the issue of possible gluten traces in cocaine (if she is a celiac), is minor compared to the issue of her regular indulgence in cocaine. If we speak of warnings 🙂 -
Anyone Try Daura gluten-free Beer?
Ivana replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It is marked gluten free where I buy it. Their website also says so. It is another thing that even foods that are marked gluten free are not always totally gluten free, ie. in the EU, if I am not mistaken, 20 ppm is allowed. Daura website says their gluten free beer contains less than 3 ppm. I drink it occasionally but to each his own. -
Children with Celiac and parenting
Ivana replied to Mommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hello, I noticed that your daughter has been diagnosed a couple of years ago, but her antibodies are still rather high (70s). It is a different process for everyone, of course, and it can take time, but it is my understanding that they fall to negative or close to negative within a year or two. Is it possible that she is still having gluten regularly...- 8 replies

Thank you! I visited Finland. I realise now that "Scandinavian" might have been a misnomer 🙂. -
anti tTG update
Ivana replied to Ivana's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello everyone, here is another update almost 4 months later. So I retested ttg iga and now it was 3,4 (different lab from before, here negative is below 7; 7-10 is weak positive, above 10 positive). Needless to say, I am very relieved. So it took me about 14 months to go into the negative range from originally very high numbers. Just before doing this last... -
Blood test results, I think positive?
Ivana replied to Acew0531's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello, my ttg iga were around 980, with positive above 20, and marsh 3C damage. They fell to 38 after 11 months, my iron and ferritin rose to normal levels (from extremely low). I am 40, probably had silent celiac for 20 years (anemia the only problem, was never on supplements though and didn't feel unwell). In a few days (3 months after the last test when... -
How to reduce bloating in colon at night
Ivana replied to sunyuzhe's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hello sunyuzhe, I don't have answers to your questions but I would like to ask you a few questions about being a celiac in China (as it is the first time I see someone from China here), if that is ok. I gather from your post that you were not officially diagnosed? Do doctors not order antibody and other celiac related blood tests in general or was celiac...- 31 replies

Help for extreme fatigue and stomach pain.
Ivana replied to Lynn Glueck's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I guess I am just really hoping some things not to be the case, which is not very scientific either, and am perhaps also more afraid of some of these conditions (even if they occur) than I should be. Thank you also for your input. -

Ivana replied to Lynn Glueck's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Again, this can indicate an increased incidence. (Although, there are 98000 members here; how many of them said that they have an additional AI, exactly? And for how many it is only others here that suggested something like that without an official diagnosis by a doctor? Also, some conditions like Hashimoto are rather frequent in general populaton too. Long... -
Help for extreme fatigue and stomach pain.
Ivana replied to Lynn Glueck's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes, I understand that, but there is still the question whether most celiacs are on this forum, or whether there are still many around who don't post and don't have these conditions, and then also many who don't even know they have celiacs and also don't have these conditions. Maybe it is a professional deformation, but I am a bit sensitive to how data is... -
Help for extreme fatigue and stomach pain.
Ivana replied to Lynn Glueck's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Trents, I really appreciate all your advice and continuous help on the forum. However, repeating things like "most" celiacs develop other food intolerances (this might have not been said by you personally), or celiacs "commonly" develp other AI diseases really triggers me and my health anxiety. Is that for a fact? How so, if most celiacs remain undiagnosed... -
Saba, I was 39 when diagnosed too

Oh, I read your other replies in this thread, and I do think that your symptoms are also stress related. Even though you feel relieved now that your Mom's tests are coming back normal, from what you describe it is obvious that you were under tremendous amount of stress, and such things take time to subside, even once you feel "fine" again. Also, the celiac...

Hello, I was the same as you a year ago when I got diagnosed. I was so afraid that having celiac meant a host of bad diseases down the line and the anxiety that this feeling caused is what actually made my body feel sick and uncomfortable, not the celiac itself. Now a year down the road I am not really afraid anymore. My antibodies are down, iron is...

Struggling with whether to have kids
Ivana replied to Faberferrum's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hello Faberferrum, my first reaction or question to your post was the same as Scott's. Are you sorry you were born now that you have celiac? I am definitely not, nor do I resent anyone for passing on the gene to me, nor do I feel sad about it a year after the diagnosis. Life is unpredictable, and chances are if we live long enough that less pleasant... -

Yes! The kitchen was full of boiling soup (so oil/grease in it too), but only a small amount landed on me. -

Ivana replied to Ivana's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Scott, thanks for the suggestion. I never thought about these modern appliances. I only use pressure cooker to quickly boil potatos and such. (I am actually a bit traumatised by it because I opened one when I was a child... luckily with only a small burn on my hand as consequence.) 🙂 -

I like rice too. I lived in East Asia for many years so I got used to it for almost every meal. I didn't know you can cook other things on top of rice in rice cookers. Now that I know, I might invest in one too, or in a crock pot for that matter. I see it used in many recipes and I also love one pot meals. Yes, my schedule is also weird, so sometimes I will... -

Ivana replied to Ivana's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi GodsGal! Nice to hear from you and thank you for your encouragement! I am not really a proficient cook (or not at all!) so most of the meals I made pre and post celiac are quite plain and have basically remained more or less the same even in the gluten free version. (I live in SE Europe and home cooking is still pretty much the norm and it often basically... -
How true trents, I noticed on how many occassions I had to forgo cakes and buiscuts that people offered when I visited their homes, or that they brought to share when celebrating something, or ordered while we were having coffee, that I suddenly became glad that I put that much less sugar and fat into my system. Pre celiac me would take every opportunity...
