ARCHIVED Left Side Pain?
Looking for answers replied to mommyof4's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes, if I eat something I'm intolerant to, the pain can get really bad. For a long time I was eating avocado, almonds and coconut and all three through trial and error cause this. It was like looking for a needle in a haystack and took me years to figure out it was yet other intolerances. I also have a hiatal hernia, which also I'm sure leads to increase... -
ARCHIVED Diagnosed By Dentist With Grinding Of Teeth
Looking for answers replied to MikeOhio's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I would definitely get a night guard. I bought mine from Amazon (they have them at CVS too) for $25. It's called Sleep Right and I got it because it's BPA free. It takes a few nights to get used to...pretty aweful at first, but now I can't sleep without one. For a long while, I refused to listen to the dentist and now I have several cracked molars and already... -
ARCHIVED I Am So Lucky
Looking for answers replied to mbrookes's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
A coworker of mine made everyone food-related gifts, but she gave me movie tickets instead. It does makes you feel good to know someone is thinking of you and your health. -
ARCHIVED Facial Numbness, Dizziness, Joint Pain, And Other Issues
Looking for answers replied to Jeffiner's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi, I'm terribly sorry to hear about your struggle. I was especially interested in your post because my brother has been dealing with the same thing since June of this year, and still has no answers. MRI comes up clean, but he does have disc issues and has arthritis of the spine. I hope someone else can shed some light on this for your sake and my brother... -
ARCHIVED Can Someone Please Help Me Interpret These Results?
Looking for answers replied to BellaBella's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had the same exact thing happen to me. I got a firm diagnosis, then I later looked at my bloodwork and started scratching my head. Luckily I have a friend who is a doctor and I had him look at the results, and he confirmed that based on the results, I shouldn't have received the diagnosis. I was so frustrated because I had alread stopped eating gluten by... -
ARCHIVED Swollen Right Eyelid/eyebrow
Looking for answers replied to Joni63's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Have you heard of Sjogren's syndrome? Check it out and see if that matches up at all. My friend had the swelling your mention and the pain, and was later diagnosed with it. -
ARCHIVED Very Ill. Pls Read My Story (Long)
Looking for answers replied to Deniseannette's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm so sorry. My heart goes out to you. Celiac does not discriminate. Your story reads so similar to what my brother is going through, and to this date, he has not been tested for Celiac disease or any other autoimmune disorder, even though they run in the family. Doctors just tell him he nuts. There are so many informative people on the board that will offer... -
ARCHIVED Would You Take A Drug So You Can Eat Gluten?
Looking for answers replied to GlutenDude's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
No, I avoid medications at all costs. Gluten isn't worth it, and I can't even imagine it ever being appetizing again (I -

ARCHIVED Brown Rice Tortillas
Looking for answers replied to missy'smom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I use the brown rice tortillas from Trader Joes, cut one in half, spread on hummus and then top with deli meat from Whole Foods (I don't like the pre-packaged stuff with nitrates). I also like to throw on brocolli sprouts. Sometime when I can tolerate it, I will add avocado as well. -
ARCHIVED Allergy Testing Followed Up By Unexpected Reaction
Looking for answers replied to Looking for answers's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
That's interesting, thank you. Also interesting that my blood test showed major allergy to egg whites, but that didn't appear with the skin test. I guess they must not be accurate. -
ARCHIVED Eggs Intolerance?!
Looking for answers replied to Februaryrich's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
You can try Chia seeds too...if you soak them for a few minutes they create a gooey gel that makes a decent substitute! -
I eat there often: Anaheim, Long Beach and San Diego...no problems. I also eat at Pei Wei, which is their take-out chain...so good. I eat there at least once a week in Newport Beach or Seal Beacg and never have had a problem. Other locations of Pei Wei are not as trust worthy, I have found.

ARCHIVED Allergy Testing Followed Up By Unexpected Reaction
Looking for answers posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Last week I had skin testing done to rule out food allergies. My GI insisted on this just to be safe. I had no signs of allergic reaction during the test (and this inlcuded gluten, which I didn't realize until it was too late). However, later that night (8-hours later) I got what I can only explain as "internally itchy." This is a feeling I get every now... -
ARCHIVED Parkinsons, Ms Dq6 ( Dqb1*0602 )
Looking for answers replied to mcat1234's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have a double set of DQ6, but have none of those diseases and have no family history. I think remaining gluten free will negate that (at least I hope so). -
ARCHIVED I Need Info On Restaurants On Italy, France And Spain
Looking for answers replied to Pegasus's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Just got back from Italy, the pharmacies carry gluten free foods. I picked up some at the station in Florence. I also had great luck at All Acqua AL2...ate there a few times. Otherwise, I hit the supermarket and bought fresh foods. -
ARCHIVED Swollen Lymph Nodes
Looking for answers replied to Rebecca92's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have them too...in my neck on both sides...have had them checked out dozens of times. My doctor said sometimes once they've enlarged they just never resize properly. However, it's probably related to autoimmune issues. -
ARCHIVED Could This Be The Answer To My Mysterious Illness
Looking for answers replied to melissa222's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Regardless of what your tests say, once you're through with them (not before!), try eliminating gluten and see how you feel. Non-Celiac gluten intolerance and bring about many of the same symptoms. -
ARCHIVED Sibo & Gluten Free Diet
Looking for answers replied to redheadsmom's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi, One of the best pieces of advice I was given on this forum was learn about the GAPS diet (it's nearly the same as the Specific Carb. Diet, but is a little more methodical, in my opinion). I'm leaving on vacation soon, so I haven't been able to do the full blown diet because it will be hard enough for me to navigate my no gluten, dairy, nut, soy diet... -
ARCHIVED Fruits And Vegies
Looking for answers replied to munchkinette's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I've experience the same thing...GI thinks it's SIBO. I've been following the GAPS diet with great relief. I recommend checking it out. -
ARCHIVED Sibo Treatment - What Worked For You?
Looking for answers replied to Looking for answers's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Follow-up: I read the blog on GAPS and ordered the book. I have to say that I really liked what I've read about the diet and have the highest hopes it will help me. I made two huge batches of the soup last night and just ate my first bowl...very tasty. I fasted Friday, Saturday and Sunday (using the Master Cleanse) and am so glad I did. I sort of reset my... -
ARCHIVED Pelvic Pain
Looking for answers replied to xxkristin's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I completely understand...I always assume the worse too. My theory as to what was going on is that the coconut was causing inflammation in my colon. I have no idea if that at all possible, but this in my crazy self-diagnosis. -
ARCHIVED Pelvic Pain
Looking for answers replied to xxkristin's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I went through that a while ago, and the episode lasted nearly two months. I thought I had an ovarian cyst, but an ultrasound came up clean. Oddly enough, I figured out it was coconut causing it. I stopped eating and it went away. When I started eating it again, it came back. I'm not sure what exactly was going on (sorry, I can't be more helpful), but I hope...
