Bloating and abdominal pain even when not eating gluten
Rebmes replied to Stevo's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You'll definitely have to try going dairy free for awhile, and re-integrating later to see what happens - that's a very common one, and usually not too hard to solve (especially if you're already on a GFD) Definitely watch out for gluten in your supplements, and prescription medications (especially off-brand). As a rule of thumb, for supplements, if... -
My wife struggled pretty bad with SS for a couple of years. What seems to work best for her, is that we now have a humidifier running in the bedroom each night, and another one in the living room for dry days. Also, some of her dryness was caused by high inflammation - it can really push things over the top. I must point out that her SS symptoms were...

Gluten-Free Prescription Medications and Dietary Supplements
Rebmes commented on Sarah Curcio's article in Autumn 2021 Issue
A couple of years ago, a study was done on off-brand supplements, and it was found that many of them use things like peanuts as a filler, and this is not identified on the label. We have a long way to go before allergens are properly identified in our foods, or medications. The worst part is that Celiac patients generally have other conditions and...- 6 comments

@Spherical Bird The author is a veterinarian, and the dog references are more than fitting! My comment was mostly meant as a compliment to the author (and the people who chose and posted the article) but also as a warning to the audience - as usual, everyone has a unique health situation and some (or none) of this could apply to a given reader,...

I imagine anyone capable of reading this article doesn't need to be warned about the nature of most of its "facts". What a fun read, though!

Struggling with Food-related Depression
Rebmes replied to kristid4d's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Don't give up. One day, your view of food will have shifted and solidified into a new normal. You'll look back and wonder why you ever loved that poison (gluten) so much anyway. It's lame to not be able to eat hardly anywhere, but that's also an excuse to invite more 🙂 -
Both my father and I have a lot of pains, a lot of the time, for most of our lives, but both of us have completely recovered since we eliminated gluten from our diets. He did it first, and saw great success, but it took about a year. I did it more recently because my wife was diagnosed with Celiac's and we always eat together (she's quite severe and we had...

CBD is great for joint pain - too bad a lot of people don't have access to it. Be very careful though, some forms of CBD can affect your abilities and won't be usable at work - but some might be OK like topical creams that don't go in your system the same way.

My symptoms are getting worse.
Rebmes replied to Alfrieda's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Welcome and sorry for the circumstances. If it's OK I'd like to add a thing or two - first is, make sure your doctor is aware of all of your symptoms, regardless of what's said here. No one but your doctor is qualified to give you medical advice. Second, make sure you're taking care of your pain management. Find a good balance that works... -

You could try granola or heartier cereals; I buy Inno brand cereal AND granola, and Nature's Path Coconut Cashew Butter Granola, all from Costco and all labeled Gluten-Free. Plain Rice Chex has almost no sugar, and most of the gluten-free corn flake options don't either. Makes for a good start Big thanks Scott Adams for the list...

Natrel Premium Eggnog
Rebmes replied to Rebmes's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you for your reply - that's certainly possible! We have used other Natrel products (plain things like butter) without issue, so this was unexpected. Should I delete the original post? It's hard to be sure with these things :( -
The Natrel Premium Eggnog, by Agropur, may be rich and creamy (and delicious for me) but it has been setting off my wife's celiac response. I wanted to share this because the product is labeled as "Gluten-Free". Upon further research, their website reads: "Although our facilities are not certified as gluten free, the majority of our products...
