  1. Thank you so much again for the lengthy reply! You're always extremely knowledgeable. I'm a bit disheartened because I've just checked the website I usually get private blood tests done at and it looks like they've stopped doing the coeliac panels which means I'll have to go with the NHS only. I did ring my GP last week saying I've not been contacted...
  2. Hi cristiana, thanks so much for the detailed reply! My symptoms aren't actually gastric. What I get is this strange pale/blue tinge to my under eyes, lips and nails, that make it look like I'm either extremely cold or recently been short of oxygen. Yes, I am British! I haven't had my annual follow up in 3 years now. I have to confess that because...
  3. Hi cristiana. I was wondering if you'd share how gluten was sneaking in that you weren't aware of please? Trying to get to the bottom of my own recurring symptoms too right now!
  4. Hi everyone. All these years gone by and I don't actually know the answer to this one but... Since many seemingly reputable sources say that soap and water (basically a proper wash) removes gluten, why is it that we're often told to have our own separate utensils? And in a similar vein, if we need separate utensils, why is it that we can we eat...
  5. Hahaha I've never in my life just had a SALAD. I might as well just have ketchup! People really don't get it yep.
  6. Thank you for your reply! That sounds like such a pain in the neck, the nearest option being 100 miles away! Re: chinese food, I don't understand why more places don't just use rice flour instead of the wheat flour, that way they'd get the coeliac customers too. And yeah, why should you have to travel all that way just to get what everyone else can get with...
  7. That's brilliant news, congratulations
  8. UK here. I "basically" got diagnosed without one about 4 years ago, off the back of 2 positive blood tests. I don't think they made it fully official but they do treat me as a coeliac. My positives were mild though and yours is high, so they might have more certainty with you. I hope they diagnose you without needing you to do a biopsy!
  9. 😂 Just a bit of a vent. I wanted to order food today (as I was away visiting family and they had nothing I could eat) so I went onto Deliveroo, and JustEat. Turned on the 'gluten free' filter. I swear, the only gluten free options available for delivery are the desserts or the junk foods. There is never a gluten free-labelled soup, or meat and po...
  10. Isn't it a measure of the body's immune response to the gluten, not the amount of gluten solely? So, if your body is a certain amount reactive to gluten, the more you eat of it, the higher the antibody level would be. But if you're not that reactive, then that same amount of gluten would give you a lower level of antibodies. And if you're not coeliac...
  11. Sorry to hear that you feel this way. It can be very stressful worrying about hidden gluten in products. When you feel like this probably the best thing to do is to just stick to simple homemade food, fish and veggies, chicken, yogurt, baked potatoes etc. That way you know there's NOTHING hidden in it. Also make some homemade soups and casseroles that...
  12. Thank you guys for your replies and support
  13. Hi Universal. Before I got my first positive blood test I went back and forth to gluten for months at a time. Even when I didn't think I was having symptoms, other people would tell me that I did. They used to tell me that under my eyes would get all blue/purple tinged (like 'dark circles') whenever I'd eaten bread. So just because you haven't noticed...
  14. Thank you everyone for your kind words and support and encouragement. Just to say I initially thought I'd got away with it as I felt no symptoms - but then 5 days later suddenly got really sick and that lasted about 5 days too. Not sure if a coincidence or a really delayed reaction but either way I haven't been tempted to shortcut my diet since.
