  1. Good morning, I got an email about replies to this post. Some of my doctors had blamed a slipped disc for the pain I had and that contributes, but after meeting with a gastroenterologist AGAIN and trying some lifestyle modifications, I found out I have IBS and can't tolerate corn or excessive fructose to any degree. Cutting out corn AFTER having...
  2. I haven't asked him about tylenol, I"m afraid to take anything right now. I will ask I do take magnesium daily, I find I cannot function at all without it, I get leg cramps and other problems if I miss a day
  3. I went to dr 2 weeks ago complaining of fatigue and my kidneys were operating at only 50% when he tested them. I was very shocked as I had never had a bad kidney test before. I've been dxed Celiac since late 2020, I have been VERY careful to avoid gluten (although there have been a few accidents, as we all have) and there is no gluten in my house as my wife...
  4. I don't know anyone who makes their own matzo, gluten free or otherwise. I order my gluten-free matzo from amazon though. It is pricey, just like all the gluten-free food, but I find it very soothing on the stomach. I guess if you already know how to make matzo, you could just make it in much the same way but use gluten-free matzah flour. But then you have...
  5. Hi, I've had pain like this for years. It did get somewhat better after my late life Celiac dx and going gluten-free but still would flare up. After numerous doctor visits of various kinds we found out: I have a slipped disc; celiac related constipation and intestinal inflammation issues aggravate the back and make it all hurt far more than it would otherwise...
  6. It's different for everyone, but I cannot tolerate going off my gluten-free diet. There seems to be little to no awareness of gluten-free needs in emergency situations - sadly, most people still think of it as a fad or something people can ignore for a while. I avoid evacuating and going to shelters in part because I wouldn't be able to eat anything.
  7. I'm facing gallbladder disease and possible removal nearly 2 years post celiac dx. I cant find much info that seems relevant. I find articles about celiacs who failed to stick to their diet and so were at higher risk for gallstones (not me), people who became gluten intolerant post gallbladder removal (I already am), the general list of bad diet that can...
  8. I didn't feel hungry so much as alienated. But in the future I need to be more proactive about sticking gluten-free protein bars in my purse for such occasions.
  9. You're 83? Well I guess it's a choice about your quality of life. I wasn't dxed until middle age and the thought of giving up delicious food I am good at cooking seemed unbearable. But I felt so much better physically after going gluten free I was shocked. I felt twenty years younger. Try it for a few weeks and see if it is worth it to you.
  10. Your sister wasn't overreacting. The doll became contaminated with what is poison to her child and had to be thrown out. Yes she was "happily eating gluten" until a year ago when the doctors discovered that was stunting her growth and causing her to be malnourished. Stop second guessing your sister. She can get her another doll.
  11. I went to my mother's funeral this weekend. There was a dinner for the family afterward and - no gluten free food. I ate a plate with a few grape tomatoes and strawberries on it while everyone else had fried chicken, potato salad and gumbo with fresh bread. We had already driven an hour to be there and sat through a 2 hour service then had to drive an hour...
  12. Maybe you just have gastritis? I've been taking antacids for years for gastritis, since before my celiac diagnosis. Nothing I eat makes it worse or better. I'm an anxious person so that could be a factor. Oh I take pepcid in the morning and at night, every day. I had been taking ranitidine but something happened with that the other year. I really preferred...
  13. I was doing really well and have been getting very sick lately. I feel like it's a guessing game every time I do. Was I accidentally glutened? Is my gall bladder going? Is it COVID? Is it a garden variety stomach flu? (For reference my wife's stomach has been upset a lot lately too). I had my bloodwork done recently and my tga was within normal limits so...
  14. Constipation can definitely cause this pain, although you want to rule out appendicitis. I had appendicitis and an appendectomy years ago before I knew about the Celiac disease. But I still have pain in that area, mostly due to constipation. If his dx is that recent, otherwise then I would just give it time to adjust to the new diet before you go eliminating...
  15. There is more known about perimenopause these days. It can take up to 10 years and while the late thirties are a tad early, it isn't that early for it to start. They know know about an extremely early phase and what you describe is pretty classic, I went through it too, cycles getting shorter suddenly for up to a year. Get a different doc if he's being...
