  1. I am very sorry to hear your daughter has these rather baffling and quite painful sympotms. Could you clarify when she had to start using the wheelchair? You said she complained all along, while undiagnosed, about painful legs, but that is still quite different from having to use a wheelchair. And now on gluten free she is symptom free unless when there is...
  2. Christiana, it is the same where I live, they are not proactive about checking for celiac in relatives. My Mom doesn't show any signs of it, so her doctor didn't order tests. I was still feeling uneasy about it so I took her to a private lab to check antibodies. Luckily that only cost 30 euro. And luckily, her antibodies were something like 0,4 (how I envy...
  3. Hello, your levels were not that high to begin with so it is perfectly possible for them to drop to 3 in 11 months. There are people whose levels dropped from almost a 1000 into the negative in that period of time. Halving in 6 months is just a ball park and for many it is quicker than that. I think you should celebrate that they normalised. Are there other...
  4. Oh, I would also like to add, if you eat the meals provided by your company, you cant be sure that they are gluten free, even if ingredients themselves are. There is a big risk of contamination. It would be better to bring your own, especially if you still feel unwell. Also, if possible insist with your gp that you get other tests done to really be sure what...
  5. I am sorry for assuming you were a "she". I really don't know what this sticky feeling in the colon could feel like. Before I was diagnosed, I got an uncomfortable feeling like popcorn was popping around my abdomen, and it sometimes woke me up. But this went away on gluten free quickly. Now I have some gurgling occassionally but I don't worry as most people...
  6. Wheatwacked, sunyuzhe said that 2 years ago she (?) was stressed, started eating a lot of cake and bread, and then, also 2 years ago got these symptoms. So I am wondering how much a lot is, if she traces the onset of these symptoms directly to the sudden hightened consumption of bread and cakes. Of course, it is possible some condition was there...
  7. Sunyuzhe, may I ask you what you mean when you say "a lot of cake and bread"? What amounts are we talking about and for how long? People in the West tend to eat "a lot" of bread (and some a lot of cake too), but I don't know if there is such a direct link between that and getting sick in such a short time span .
  8. Hello, I buy at the farmers market all the time as it is still how we do our shopping where I live in SE Europe. It is easy to wash fruit and vegetables so you shouldn't worry so much as any potential gluten can be washed away. I havent really seen the sellers eating sandwiches above their wares though (I had the same concern in the beginning). The...
