How long to recover after accidentally eating gluten
pokey449 replied to pokey449's topic in Super Sensitive People
Celiac, gluten sensitivity, SIBO, IBS, low gallbladder EF (28%) all terms/conditions/considerations that have crossed my path the last few months as possible explanations for my myriad GI symptoms. Before being diagnosed with SIBO May 2020 I had atrial flutter and had to have an ablation. Its overwhelming and very hard to sort out the symptoms, pain, fatigue... -

How long to recover after accidentally eating gluten

Knitty Kitty. What’s the connection between thiamine and gallbladder dysfunction. I supposedly have gallbladder dyskinesia. My GB does not contract adequately when CCK is given. CCK is what makes your GB contract naturally. GB ejection fractions below 35% are considered abnormal. Mine was 28%. The advice is to have it out. Is there some thiamine can improve m... -
How long to recover after accidentally eating gluten
pokey449 replied to pokey449's topic in Super Sensitive People
Scott: thank you. I mistakenly ate something I should have know better. Live and learn. Im having a hard time figuring out what all is going on with my gut. I had SIBO this past summer. Treated that successfully, went on a low FODMAP, gluten and lactose free diet. My symptoms are much better but now my GI doc thinks maybe I need to have my gallbladder out... -
I’m gluten sensitive. My GI doc says I don’t have celiac per se. I accidentally ate something the other day that it turns out had gluten in it and started having gut pain. Things aren’t back to baseline yet. How long can I expect it to take to simmer down again? A few days or longer?? I’m a neophyte here and this a new reality for me. Thanks.

The Xifaxan was my 2nd round of antibiotic. I was breath tested after the Xifaxan and had normal H2 levels. SIBO gone. Bloating and cramping and mega gas gone as well. I don’t think the SIBO is back. Recently had biopsy for H pylori which was negative. Nausea and burning gnawing sensation is what keeps coming back. A dose of famotidine relieves it for a...

Has Anyone Gotten Covid Shot(s) Yet?
pokey449 replied to Kate333's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I get my first shot today. I had the same anxiety as you about the vaccine affecting my gut issue. Everything I can find indicates that the vaccine should not impact most underlying conditions. I have a friend who has pulmonary fibrosis. she got the shot and is doing fine. My sister-in-law has allergies and she is doing fine. I'm going to get the shots as... -
Thanks. I ordered some Befotiamine and a really good Multivitamin as well. I’m taking a number of other supplements as well.

Ive been pretty much gluten free for 6 months with the one exception of learning that the oatmeal I had been eating might have been contaminated, so 3 weeks ago I switched to certified gluten free. So far the symptoms have not improved 3 weeks later. Id think Id see some improvement??? Also I am having to assume I am celiac as the only diagnostic parameter...

Posterboy; I don't think I have a thiamine deficiency as I am taking extra B12, D3, Multi-vit, Mg Citrate, digestive enzymes, tumeric/ginger, Lactobacillus, DGL and Apple cider vinegar and aloe vera when I can remember to drink it. I did fine for a while after getting completely off the PPI but gradually the nausea kept getting worse and worse. It gets so...

Question. I’ve read in numerous places that SIBO can cause GERD. The thing is I had GERD long before ever having SIBO so I’m not inclined to believe that theory. I do believe PPIs can cause SIBO. Can PPIs and SIBO cause celiac??

Yes I had a biopsy which showed mild villi blunting. Blood tests for celiac were negative. I’ve been on a gluten free diet for 6 months with the possible exception that the oatmeal I had been eating might have been contaminated ( I didn’t know oatmeal could get contaminated) and I switched to certified gluten free oatmeal 3weeks ago. Not much difference in ...

I was put on PPIs back in 2003 when I had H pylori and esophagitis (GERD). Nausea at the time was not an issue. I was kept of PPIs for the GERD and gastritis which became less of an issue with time. They kept me on the PPI for 17 years because supposedly "I needed it" per my docs to prevent getting Barretts. Fast forward to early summer 2020 when I was diagnosed...

Thanks Posterboy for the comments and links. I know I’m driving my GI doc nuts by bugging him to figure this out. Maybe that’s an impossibility. Night before last I was awake all night with terrible nausea cramping and gas. I was convinced my SIBO was back. Last night I slept a continuous 7 hours and only have a mildly upset gut this morning. I just can’t f...

PS: I was off the PPI for 5 months and doing pretty well, but then the acid started coming back. Ive been taking DGL, digestive enzymes, probiotics, L Glutamine, Multi-Vit, Iberogast. Now the nausea from the acid is really bad and the PPI offers relief. This is so confusing and difficult, I dont know what to do next

I was on a PPI for 17 years for GERD. This summer I was diagnosed with SIBO and treated and then later an endoscopy showed mild villi blunting suggesting possible celiac but then tested negative on the blood tests. In the mean time my stomach acid issues came back and my GI doc put me back on the PPI. Having lots of nausea. Is it possible the PPI caused my...

I am new to this celiac business. I am having lots of nausea. Do others experience nausea in the process of getting well. I was diagnosed earlier this summer with SIBO and we treated that successfully with Xifaxan and I have been on a low FODMAP diet, no dairy and attempting gluten free as well. It was just recently that I was informed I may be celiac. I...

Is genetic testing worth it
pokey449 replied to pokey449's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
thanks. I interpreted the article as a negative result doesn’t necessarily mean negative especially if the lab doesn’t test for both subunits I should mention I had an abdominal CT recently that didn’t show anything out of the ordinary for my small bowel or colon. No dilation, lymph nodes or fluid associated with either -
Is genetic testing worth it
pokey449 replied to pokey449's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Scott. Do I understand that a negative HLAQ8 test does not mean that I’m not gluten sensitive, but at least it rules out celiac??? and a positive result does not guarantee I have celiac?? I just have the marker??
