  1. @Wheatwacked, I assume the Celiac Risk column refers to the risk of deficiency in untreated Coeliac Disease?
  2. Dermatitis Herpetiformis is an absolute unbearable itch, so much so that you will scratch the itch down to the bone. Nothing will ease the itch except for Dapsone and/or a strict gluten free diet depending on how bad it is. It may be worth getting a second option from another dermatologist. It does not sound like DH, but if it is ... a definitive diagnosis...
  3. @itarachiu, Good news that you are doing so well! Adding a low dose Iron Bisglycinate supplement (with the approval of my GP) has made a big difference to my histamine intolerance. Iron Bisglycinate is easy on the stomach. Regular black tea which is fermented causes a noticeable histamine increase when I consume it.
  4. I think we focus on getting the main minerals like Magnesium, Zinc Iron and Calcium and tend to forget about the trace minerals which are just as important, especially Selenium. I know I do!!
  5. This is very interesting. So what is the therapeutic dose of Niacin to correct a deficiency or a subclinical deficiency? Is it a case that the cells need to be saturated with Niacin to be of significant benefit as is the case with Thiamine? Is there a helper mineral or nutrient that helps Niacin to do it's thing similar to Thiamine and Magnesium?
  6. Based on my experience with DH, it occurs on both sides of the body at pressure points on the skin ... so the elbows, knees, hips from clothing etc. The blisters cluster together and are clear and watery. I initially had what was thought to be eczema on my back which didn't respond to steroid cream. It was biopsied and came back positive for DH. The symmetrical...
  7. That's hillarious ... into the cheese barrel!! It was last Thursday I had the Eye test, which are healthy. The Optometrist recommended fish oil for Blepharitis. So I had one capsule of Wiley's Wild Atlantic Fish Oil Minis after my lunch with added gluten-free fresh mashed potato as a treat (Potato (90%), Milk, Butter (Milk), Salt, White Pepper) ... and oh...
  8. Thanks. It's pretty mild though annoying. I think every "itis" in the body has some connection back to Coeliac Disease!! While I am dairy free for the most part, I fall off the wagon every now and then and gobble a half block of cheddar cheese!! I think this is dairy related, and I will conquer it!
  9. Folks, Just had my eyes tested today, pretty thorough test to be honest which impressed me. Went to an independent optician instead of Specsavers! I've got Blepharitis ... so I was wondering if anyone here has had Blepharitis (blocked oil glands in the eyelids) and how they overcame it? The treatment prescribed is eye drops for dry eyes and one of those...
  10. This site has some good information about the low histamine diet. The lady who runs it seems to have been on a really difficult journey ... https://lowhistamineeats.com/
  11. @itarachiu, I'm really happy that you are doing so well. I have histamine intolerance like you, it's much improved though. If you don't mind, what foods are you eating every day on the low histamine diet? It's restrictive and difficult to manage with a gluten-free diet! I have discovered that I had a subclinical iron deficiency which was missed on my...
  12. Thank you @cnazrael89. I've done a bunch of research about reversing osteopenia/osteoporosis naturally. I believe it can be done with supplementation, diet beyond gluten-free and strength exercise. For example, my hips hurt when I eat too much citrus ... I think it's the acidity. I don't fancy pharmaceuticals. I've bookmarked some interesting articles...
  13. @cnazrael89, Have you been referred to a specialist for your osteoporosis? If you don't mind me asking, what supplements beyond the obvious were recommend by your GI for osteoporosis. I'm curious because I have osteopenia and want to address it with supplements and exercise.
  14. Carrageenan is a food additive derived from seaweed, used as an emulsifier. It may also be a factor to consider for DH flares. It's used in dairy and dairy milk alternatives.
  15. Excellent! Thank you... that has just made my day😀. Living on the 52nd parallel, sunshine is scarce. I have osteopenia, what I'm really interested in is whether or not that can be reversed through nutrition. Collagen seems to play a big part in bone building, along with sufficient mineral intake and Vitamin k2. Any thoughts from anyone on this subject wo...
  16. I'm not a Diabetic so I can't really speak from a Diabetic's perspective. I've been told many times in the past few years to watch my blood sugar as they were creeping into the "we need to watch this closely" zone, yet I follow AIP and don't consume excess additional sugar. My iron levels have been borderline for a while, so when I focused on addressing that...
  17. You can feel quiet under the weather with a subclinical iron deficiency alone without technically being iron deficient anemic. Especially when we Coeliacs don't or can't eat the limited amount of iron fortified gluten-free foods. All my bloods have been perfect anemia wise and within the reference ranges ... the low end I might add, yet I was wasn't firing...
  18. It's funny you say that @knitty kitty about Vitamin D and the body craving it!. I backed off Vitamin D over the summer months as my level was at 124. I recently started back on a BetterYou Vitamin D3 spray which has 3000ius per spray. I felt like taking two sprays on one or two occasions which is too much 6000iu. I got my bloods done last week and my level...
  19. There are other conditions that may cause itchy skin that can coexist with DH ... Iron Deficiency/Anemia and underactive Thyroid, these can be easily missed or overlooked. https://www.usdermatologypartners.com/blog/getting-rid-of-itchy-skin-with-no-rash/ Iodine does exacerbate DH, I can attest to that.
  20. Congrats @MADMOM ...well done! Just goes to show you hard work and diligence really does pays off. @Kate333, that's really impressive to get G antibodies so low. Mine were at 3.1 a year ago, more motivation to get even lower now!!
  21. No many would think of this but that's a great catch. Well done. Hopefully, it's the source of your problem.
  22. Having a cheat day is never ever worth it. The longer you are off gluten, the more sensitive you become to smaller amounts. I've gone to a Dietitian at the hospital where I was diagnosed with DH, and the Dietitian affiliated with our Coeliac Society. They do offer good advice, however they don't know everything and it's better to speak to a dietitian...
  23. Is there any risk of hookworm infection getting out of control? How many are administered for each treatment? Have you had your TTG levels tested after treatment? Sorry for the questions, but this is fascinating ... i've got UC in remission, celiac disease and DH.
  24. A cautionary tale about supplements and medications. I recently came across a calcium supplement Kalcipos at my local pharmacy. I looked at the ingredients and it seemed to be gluten free but had Maltodextrin in it. So I emailed the manufacturer/distrubitor and asked if there was gluten and/or what the maltodextrin was derived from. Sure enough, they replied...
  25. @Tyler2022, Here's a home Coeliac test you can get in the UK ... https://www.letsgetchecked.co.uk/home-coeliac-test/ You should be able to get a Coeliac blood test on the NHS which would be better. I would strongly advocate for one based on your symptoms. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coeliac-disease/diagnosis/ With regard to the endoscopy...
