  1. Yes. If I get cross contaminated badly enough I get them. Like sudden sharp stabs out of nowhere, in the bottom right quadrant of my stomach. Also had them when I was consuming gluten-free breads and pastas.
  2. A skin biopsy by a Dermatologist for DH would be definitive if that's possible before your gastro appointment while the rash is active. I was treated for Eczema with topical steroid cream which didn't help that much before a skin biopsy for DH came back positive. I had a subsequent negative SB biopsy for celiac disease.
  3. I thought it worth sharing this regarding the histamine and histadelia conversation ... https://www.natures-source.com/blogs/news/histadelia-a-primer-on-histamine-folate-and-methylation/ "Beware of excess folate in your diet, One thing to caution readers about concerns the role of folate - folic acid, in all of this chemistry. Nothing raises blood...
  4. You're welcome! Always curious and like to know cause and effect. I take 20mg Opemrazole on rare similar occasions when glutened only as a last resort though. Anything acidic like coffee, citrus fruits etc. will add to the irritation. I can't remember the last time I consciously added black pepper of any kind to food.
  5. That's really interesting. It stands to reason that the high acidity of chyme from the stomach entering the small intestine when it's sore and tender would help.
  6. Something to consider since it's so important to get the correct diagnosis either way. My DH was misdiagnosed as Eczema initially. The rash came and went and was treated with topical steroid cream. Then it came back with a vengeance and itched like crazy. So I had a skin biopsy which was positive for DH and Coeliac Disease. A subsequent endoscopy and small...
  7. Great result indeed! So is it safe to say that Niacin is a good remedy for Sinusitis in general?
  8. Helpful info for reference ... https://celiac.org/about-the-foundation/featured-news/2015/10/dermatitis-herpetiformis-and-iodine-exposure/
  9. This is really interesting. Which is the most effective form of Zinc for healing leaky gut in Coeliacs? Or is it just a matter of getting a good bioavailable form as in Zinc Picolinate? I've read that many functional practitioners recommend Zinc Carnosine for healing the damage caused by acid reflux in those who suffer from it.
  10. If you don't mind me asking, what's in your turmeric concoction that works so well for inflammation? I've tried a turmeric supplement before that has black pepper and it did not agree with me.
  11. I've read that Quercetin is good for addressing high histamine levels. I don't have any personal experience with it, but it may be another piece in the histamine equation.
  12. I came across this webinar by the Canadian Celiac Association on DH if anyone is interested ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAdmsNiyfOw
  13. I've had DH a long time, diagnosed by skin biopsy. I can attest to everything that's been said about DH and the dairy/iodine connection. In addition to flaring DH, dairy makes me really tired and knocks me out. It's the casein protein, and/or the Microbial Transglutaminase food additive they put into dairy and other foods. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih...
  14. I understand the caffeine in tea and coffee and other caffeinated beverages is thought to inhibit the production of DAO enzyme levels in the gut, and well as depleting B Vitamins. I also came across some research regarding deficiencies in Iron and Zinc (in addition to Magnesium) which can also reduce the DAO levels in the gut. I've taken a multipronged approach...
  15. The relationship between Vitamin D levels, Fish Oil and mood is interesting. Came across these which explain it very nicely .... https://www.integrativepsychiatry.net/vitamin-d-and-fish-oil-improve-cognition-and-mood-by-supporting-serotonin/ https://www.brain-effect.com/en/magazin/boost-serotonin-levels It's good to know how and why micronutrient...
  16. Update: Thought I'd share this in relation to histamine intolerance and mast cells ... https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s40629-021-00171-9 . I've concluded through experimentation and going back through previous blood test results ... that I have a subclinical iron deficiency, as supplementation with a low dose iron complex with vitamin C for the...
  17. Very interesting. My thirst for knowledge has led me to learn all the essential nutrients and pathways for neurotransmitter production. Fascinating how the body's systems are interdependent on one another and essential nutrients. I've read that poor blood sugar regulation or insulin response will not allow tyrosine to do it's thing and produce dopamine and...
  18. @knitty kitty ... Just curios. What are the additional benefits of Benfotiamine? Do you take choline?
  19. @Scott Adams, I'm curious. What Brand/Type of Choline do you take? Is the regular choline bitartrate or CDP Choline (Cognizin)? I believe the latter is the most effective.
  20. I've had issues with reflux having a HH. In my experience, any food or beverage item that will cause inflammation and/or bloating in the gut will cause reflux. Coeliacs are prone to developing IBS and SIBO which can cause reflux. I follow an AIP diet for the most part and take the supplements my body needs since fortified foods are off the menu. I've got...
  21. Sounds like DH to me. It's the itch that won't go away, no matter how much you scratch! When I get glutened, I get what I can only describe as random pin pricks anywhere on the skin. Then the scalp becomes itchy first, I guess because it's got a large blood supply ... followed by the forearms and elbows.
  22. Does anyone have experience of supplementing with Vitamin B5 in terms of dealing with stress and a being a good supplement for the adrenal glands? Came across this info on the spectracell blog ... "Also known as pantothenate or pantothenic acid, vitamin B5 is sometimes referred to as the “anti-stress” vitamin because it can reverse some biological dam...
  23. I'm curious, how does that work for a three course meal in a restaurant spaced over a couple of hours? Is one pill sufficient for three courses?
  24. Something to consider. There can be undeclared gluten in batches of Almond Milk and Rice Milk and other gluten-free products. We had a bulletin issued a few weeks back by the Coeliac Society of Ireland for undeclared gluten in a batch of Rice Milk. I don't touch any substitute milks.
  25. @Conniem, I have DH which was diagnosed by skin biopsy for what was initially thought to be Eczema. Coeliac blood test was negative as was a subsequent endoscopy and small bowel biopsy for celiac disease. My forearms have the tell tale scars from blisters in previous flare ups. As knitty kitty said, Iodine in Dairy can flare it. Our salt is not iodised...
