  1. The office called a few minutes ago and left a message saying the results were negative …I’m so very confused and discouraged
  2. So are the genes he tested for the only gene tests needed? So if these come back negative I can’t have celiac disease? Or are there other genes?
  3. I’m still learning about celiac and am a bit confused about some things. Is it like other autoimmune diseases and can flare up and become symptomatic from things like stress other illnesses etc? Or if you can achieve completed healing of the intestines and avoid gluten does it just go away?
  4. Anyone else experience night sweats?
  5. Just curious if anyone else experiences neurological symptoms?? If so what kind?? I have noticed that I sometimes I have trouble finding words or saying the wrong words.. I also have dizziness and I just feel really weird mentally and physically. These spells make it hard to function, walk etc. It honestly scares me bc it’s such a strange feeling a...
  6. I have not, looks like there is not much to eat on that diet
  7. I thought it was caused by tomato based foods, but I also have issues with bacon and I had a high fat low carb dip that caused me issues. So I thought this was interesting…. Trying to figure out my diet and what I can eat
  8. So if your acid is low greasy / fattening foods will cause heartburn? Like bacon, cream cheese in a dip etc?
  9. During the intestinal healing phase and/or after healing, is it normal to have a change in the digestive system in general? Do celiacs just have more tummy issues? Are there certain gluten free foods that you can no longer eat? Should I be sticking to a pretty bland diet for a good while ? Im having issues with reflux and just my stomach in general...
  10. And also I was in a long term abusive marriage and during that time period is when I started having issues
  11. So did you have to have the endoscopy to confirm your diagnosis? I am not planning on eating gluten again. The only way would be if I decided to have the biopsy, but I really don’t want to go through that if at all possible. also I saw you had a host of misdiagnoses prior to the celiac diagnosis. That’s makes me wonder about myself. I was so ...
  12. He ordered the genetic tests - it said HLA, DQ 2 and DQ 8.. I went and got it done today. I’m sure it takes a while to come back. So what does it mean if these come back positive or negative?
  13. I sent a message about the test and he said he would order the HLA genetic testing but I would need the biopsy to confirm 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
  14. I didn’t realize that could happen … maybe that’s why he doesn’t do the genetic testing unless he feels it’s necessary after a negative biopsy. I see him back in a year, and he will be doing bloodwork then.
  15. He mentioned genetic testing but after the endoscopy if it was negative. I just don’t get why they can’t do the genetic testing as opposed to me making myself sick and getting a biopsy. I think he mentioned a different type of genetic test HLA or something like that
  16. Yes I am hoping he won’t push the endoscopy…I mean he said he was sure I had celiac and was treating me as such and for me to live that way. My hope is he will continue to see me even if I don’t opt for the gluten challenge and endoscopy. There needs to be better testing options
  17. First I wanted to say I went on my trip out of town and was extremely proud of myself - I researched my restaurants and chose wisely and avoided gluten (as far as I know) for the entire trip. It was anything but easy watching everyone eat fried apple pies and cinnamon donuts but I did it!! And I only had to take 1 Imodium pill on the entire trip… I had b...
  18. So you fry them and add the toppings in the skillet and everything?
  19. So how do you make your pizzas? I would like to try them
  20. I actually meant I make theM at home using regular cheap dough mix. Then add sauce and toppings and only eat the toppings after I bake it , but I would guess it’s the same bad idea ??
  21. Thank you, I’m still learning and clearly have a lot to learn. Trying to figure out what I’ve been doing that I shouldn’t be doing. Sounds like peeling skin off chicken and toppings off pizza is not a good idea
  22. Ok I didn’t realize it would bake into the toppings Unfortunately I do not. There might be one an hour or so away, my local area has nothing, It’s very frustrating trying to afford this stuff and find it. Do you agree that it’s not a good idea to have regular crust and just eat toppings?
  23. So this may be a stupid question but is it okay if I just eat the toppings like cheese and meats and not the crust, even though the crust is not gluten free? Like I skin all the toppings off and just eat that. I have been doing this for a while bc the cost of gluten free crust is ridiculous and I don’t eat it bc it’s all been gross. So I just use reg...
  24. Thank you! I probably need to start keeping a change of clothes with me. It’s so hard. I never thought about cross contamination in things like jelly, salad dressing, peanut butter etc. T have started trying to take a B1 supplement but sometimes it makes me nauseated. Yes it’s helpful to have people who understand
  25. Thanks, will do. To me best case scenario is him saying he supports celiac diagnosis even though I’m not opting for endoscopy. I don’t have high hopes though. Worst case scenario is him refusing to acknowledge any of it without a biopsy or telling me it’s not celiac and eat whatever. I’m currently on a trip so I’m scared I’m going to make myself worse with ...
