  1. I am one HACKED OFF chick!! The guy who we were getting our llama from sold him out from under us (or at least I'm pretty sure he has). I am so sad and upset. I went shopping today for a comb and a collar for him............ :( This guy that is selling him sounds like a real piece of work......who knows if he even HAS a llama for sale.

    -Jessica :(

  2. I just can't stop laughing that I own(will own) a llama named Gus.

Gus was abandoned by some people....that is how his current owner came to have him. This guy was going to breed llamas and "just never got around to it" so he was selling him. Gus sounds like a sweetheart and the sad abandonment story doesn't hurt my fondness for him. The guy says he's very nice, doesn't spit (which I guess is quite the bonus :P ) , is very curious. When I called the guy to ask about Gus...Gus was laying down outside with the guy's grandson....awwww!!

I have loaded film in the camera to take pictures. So I'll post one of him sometime soon. He doesn't arrive until Saturday and the wait is killing me!

    -Jessica

  3. nothing much proud of myself been clean for a long time now i lost count as to how many weeks/months its been. Stomich has slightly improved it seems that as long as i eat 6 small meals a day it does not tend to hurt. all i have now is gas that i need to keep under controle. Found that if i have 2-4 shots of some form of alchohal a day or every other day (not a alchohalic) it helps to relive me and keeps me more regular. Started school then desided to leave because it was just a prep course for the ged and realised that all they did was toss 3 text books at us and said refresh for a month and you will be good, so instead i downloaded the full text books and am doing the studing from home to save the money. will be going for the test probably end of july. Then If things go as planned i will be on finachial student aid for spring tearm to start my radiology program :) .... at the same time though I have been given a one in a life time opertunity to travel the world with two people. They run a internet busness and if I am good I could travel with them and help with there busness going state to state then country to country until we all find one we like to much to leave. Not sure if i should do it though since I am working on my life plan but still its such a amazing opertunity. On other notes that no one really cares about my xbox 360 desided to randomly break on me .... 400 doller video game system that i won from a contest.... It just randomly wont turn on and instead blinks red and blinks and blinks and blinks... but its getting repaird for free from microsoft but its like a month long prossess. hehe you asked how it was going figured meh way as well post alot lol. All of my wounds from the car accedent are healing nicely my arm is almost 100% healed i picked off the scab a bit to early so unfortunatly it may scar. my hip is perminetly messed up though now it pops alot when i walk but meh atleast im still alive hehe. My birthday was pretty good had alot of friends (around 30) at my apartment and had a pretty good rager. got a new bed set from my parents so thats really nice. lol im rambaling. anyways thanks for the good sandwich tips and definatly about the musterd... what is mayo primarly made out of? I have challanged dairy recently and have came to I can take it in moderation a lil butter here( like in bread or cookies) is fine and yogurt as long as its 1 cup is safe for a day. Made the mistake of having a small shake from work made my head spin (could have been to much sugar though) and did give me a lil bathroom hell but other then that it was all good. still dont wanna over do it on dairy based products. pretty sure mayo is mostly eggs???

Never have thought too much about what mayo is made of...you made me do some research!!

Here is what wikipedia says about mayo : Mayonnaise is a thick sauce made primarily from vegetable oil and egg yolks.[1] Generally whitish-yellow in color, it is a stable emulsion formed from the oil and yolks and is generally flavored with salt, pepper, vinegar and/or lemon juice, and frequently mustard. Numerous other sauces can be created from it by adding additional seasonings

    :) Enjoy!

  4. so my town aparently now has a dedicated gluten free bakery (YAY) so i went down and got a loaf of bread and some really really good cookies, tried the bread by itself also the cookies, they have to be the best i have had i have tried store bought bread that is all really nasty and does not taste like the real thing but this stuff is really good. anyways so now i am on a quest to make sandwichs. I already found my brand of lunch meat i like (hillshire farms) seems that all of there meat is safe so far have not ran across one i cant have. Also i read that valasic pickels are all gluten-free so even though i am not a fan of the brand but i grabbed some of those anyways. so now im just looking for the other stuff like sauces to put on the sandwich and other objects that may work good on a sandwich

I'm not a big sandwich fan...however I might become one if I had found a bakery like you have!!

Take a look at what places like "subway" put on their sandwiches....peppers, onions, olives, mustard (french's is gluten-free), Mayo (miracle whip is gluten-free), cheese, tomato, lettuce, I'm sure I'm missing tons of things. Just be creative and I'm sure you will make a great sandwich.

    -Jessica

  5. I have been begging and pleading with my Dad for MONTHS now to get a llama......WHY you say? I don't know.....llamas are good for keeping predators away from cattle and sheep. We have cows (at my parents). So finally this week I found a llama that was for sale. Dad said he was "too much money" and we couldn't get it. However, the man selling him took less money for him and on Saturday (if all goes well) I will be the proud owner of a llama named Gus. I am terribly excited!!

If anyone has experience with llamas...share your knowledge. If you think I'm crazy....that's ok too ;)

    -Jessica

  7. Last night we went out with some friends to Smokey Bones and had a great gluten-free meal!! They don't have a menu online, but can print one out for you there. My server didn't know what I was talking about, so I asked him to ask the manager. He was then very helpful. Not only are their BBQ sauces gluten-free, but most of their sides are gluten-free too! There were lots of choices for meats/chicken and salads. I had the baby back ribs, baked potato and steamed broccoli. It took me forever to decide what I wanted b/c I am not used to having that many choices when I go out.

I highly recommend Smokey Bones if you are looking for a place to eat gluten-free.

Sounds like you had a great meal!! I love bbq. Is smokey bones a chain ?

    -Jessica

  8. LOL!!! It must be ridiculously hot but that is really one of the cutest things ever.

It's really hot and humid in NY. Definately a pony tail day ;)

Yes, it's cute. However, I tend to forget how cute it is when I'm sitting still, not moving, with a fan on me and am STILL sweating!! ewwwww :D

-Jessica....who is still sitting in her AC even though the temp isn't tooo bad today

  9. For those of you who have facebook......you can add the "awareness ribbons" application to your profile. You may then choose ribbons for which you support the cause .........such as Celiac disease. I was pleasantly suprised to find a green ribbon for celiac on the list!! YEAH!! Sooo now you can even promote celiac awareness from your facebook page. :D

    -Jessica

  10. Hot and humid here in Kansas!! My parents have this silly rule about not turning on their AC until their anniversary (June 29th).....because their ac was a wedding gift......sentimental yet insane!!! :P I told them the other day I was going home to my own house and turning on the AC!! I had been staying with them to help get the crops in the field......I just couldn't take it any longer!!! I NEED AC!! I'm a wimp!

    -Jessica...the wimp

  11. I've never seen them packaged that way either... Usually they're in a bag with a similar design. Perhaps they're putting them in boxes to market them to mainstream grocery stores. The box may be just another barrier to keep us safe from the glutenous baking aisle that they put the mixes in. Though, I found my boxes in the pasta aisle of all places. Ha!

What aisle are you guys finding these in? I'll have to look next time I go to Walmart.

I found mine in the "wierd food" section hehe  It was by some rice milk, almond milk, protein bars, diet foods etc.

    -Jessica

  12. Hmm, I never saw brownies in that type of box from GFP before. I will be on the look out for them though, mmmm peanut buttery brownies. What are you trying to do to me here...I am at work :)

I have never seen their products packaged that way before either. However was just walking by this shelf and recognized the turquoise stripes on the corner of the box (total brand recognition)!! I had to stop and read the box like 10 times to make sure it really was gluten-free pantry and I wasn't dreaming!!

By the way...my belly is still full of brownie haha But it was SOOO good!!

    -Jessica

  13. Jess,

Let me know how the brownies turn out. I love the truffle brownies. Cannot find them anywhere!!!

Ok, so I sort of "super charged" my brownies hehe. I took two packages (4 cups) of reeses pb cups and diced them up and put them ontop of the warm brownies. Then smothered all of that in a can of frosting. OMG Soooooooo good!! My avatar is the picture of a brownie, the box, and a glass of milk (had to wash all that rich stuff down somehow).

I will for sure be buying these on a regular basis. Now I need to try the muffin mix that Ghulia is raving about ( I was afraid I wouldn't like it).

    -Jessica

  14. If you have a flour blend that you like to use, then use that. If you only have rice flour on hand then use that....either way add about a teaspoon of xantham gum to your recipe to help "bind" things together.

Chocolate peanutbutter brownies sound wonderful!!! You'll have to post your recipe. I am a peanutbutter-aholic! ;)

I'm making brownies today, then going to top them with reeses cups then frosting! RICH RICH RICH haha

    -Jessica

  15. While grocery shopping on Sunday I discovered that our Wal-Mart is now carrying 2 gluten free pantry mixes. They have a brownie mix and a muffin mix. I was estatic!! The brownies are not the chocolate truffle like they sell on their website they are just plain brownies. I am hopefully going to make them today!! I'm sure they are just as good as the others. They were only $2.98 for a 16oz. box. as to on the gluten free.com website you pay $4.35 for their 16oz bag of chocolate truffle brownie mix. SOOO much cheaper and way more convenient to pick them up at the store!! YEAHHH!!!

    -Jessica

  16. So my best friend calls me this morning and the first thing she says is "I've never cared for oatmeal. But I picked up a loaf of oatmeal bread and I don't think I've ever had anything as good."

Well, I'm happy for you. But why don't you share that with someone who can delight with you in the joys of soft, delicious, store-bought bread? You can gorge yourselves silly and then you can both weigh 300 pounds.

I try not to let little trivial things like this bother me. I'm sure it could be seen the other way also. I know I get excited when I find a good gluten free product somewhere. I don't keep it to myself. I tell the whole family and act like an excited kid on a sugar high. I am sure there are times when they think " soooo you are telling me this why?" It's not like THEY need gluten-free food ;)

Try to let little things like that roll off your back. Don't sweat the small stuff. Or next time get your "revenge" by bragging about your great gluten free snack you found!! No biggie.

    -Jessica

  17. I found Noodles and Company there and it is close by so the teacher is running over to get him something there for dinner.

He did get sick after lunch yesterday but is doing good now.

ADDED: Billy got a #1st place in the long jump!! Awesome!!

His team got 4 in the relay.

It was really hot but it all worked out well and he is home now.

He treated his Dad to a movie this evening for Father's day. Billy picked the movie tough. Fantastic 4.

    Karol mom to Billy :D

Karol, tell Billy Congrats on the first place in long jump!! That is great. Also 4th in relay isn't too shabby either! WAY TO GO BILLY!!

Sounds like he had a fun trip. I think that sometimes it is harder for parents to "let go" than it is for the kids :) Glad it all worked out.

    -Jessica

  18. NoGluGirl....the info you have posted is not correct. The information that Richard posted (Lovgrov) is correct. Please please please be careful of what you are posting it can create un-necessary confusion and turmoil.

    -Jessica

    This post is wrong.

This is from Coke 12 days ago. The last part that talks about Codex is simply Coke's CYA for a few drinks that have in ingredients made in plants where gluten might be present. It's another way of saying we can't absolutely guarantee no CC. But the chance is very, very small. It's much more dangerous to eat at a restaurant.

totally gluten-free even though they may have undetectable levels of

gluten in them. The Codex guideline provides a very low threshold for

gluten content. However, extremely gluten-sensitive individuals should

discuss consumption of these products with their health care provider.
