I've been eyeing that mixer for probably four years, too. I am so jealous of you right now...
I would take it in doo doo brown if I could get it for $129 LOL
hahaha!!!

I am so happy!!! I have wanted one for a long time. I am still in shock that I got the Kitchenaid Artisan for $129!!! ($149 sale price minus the $20 rebate). Crazyness

So I went blackfriday shopping. I was going to buy a kitchenaid mixer that was on sale for $149. It only came in white, but I decided that it was a good deal and I would go ahead and get it (even though I had been ogling this pink one for 4 years now).
I got to the store and it was GONE!! Store opened at 7am and I was there by 7:01 ha. I decided to go ahead and check the other boxes to be sure that I hadn't missed my mixer somewhere. This lady tapped me on the shoulder and said, just go ahead and take one of those up to that kiosk and they will price match it for you. I gave her this deer caught in headlights look and said "are you sure". She said, yep they just did mine....soooo I quickly grabbed my dream mixer (the beautiful pink kitchenaid) and hurried to the kiosk. Showed the nice girl my ad, and said that someone told me that they would price match it since they were out of the one on sale. She said OK, and started the transaction. Just about that time another lady came by and started saying that they HAD to stop doing that. They said I was the LAST one!!
Long story short, I got my dream mixer and saved $140 (at least). !!! Oh and I also got a $20 rebate haha I am estatic!!

Food Tek has a line of microwave mixes. You just add water and put them in the microwave. I know at one time they were also working on a line for easy bake ovens. Just checked the site, and they have a line for the easy bake ovens available : Open Original Shared Link Enjoy!!

You can slather pinecones with peanut butter then dip or roll them in bird seed. Tie onto the braches of the tree. Homemade edible birdie ornaments!!

I also use them all the time for green bean caserole. Turns out great!!!
Tim, for the soup I use progresso creamy mushroom. It's a little thinner than the condensed soups, but if you cook it without foil or a lid ontop some of the liquid evaporates.
LOVE IT!!

I'm making my chocolate fondue recipe for a baby shower that I am hosting next week. I just was recalling how good it is!!!

I would second that. I also recieved a complementary copy for my support group that I run online. It would be a lifesaver for a newly diagnosed celiac. It would be a great gift for that newly diagnosed person that you know is struggling.

I have to confess. I have spent entirely TOO much money on makeup in the last week!! haha I put in my first order. I got the sample kit and a few other things. Had a great time playing with that when it came. Then of course I had to place AnOTHER order to get more "stuff". This is addicting, but I do like the makeup. I can't even feel it on my face!! That was the problem with what I wore before, it was just too heavy and made me HOT!!! This stuff is great. Love it!!

I am a teacher with celiac disease, and I would still have trouble remembering to tell you ahead of time, especially if the event was in choir and not in my classroom. It is scary the number of tiny little details I have to remember about my kids each day--who has allergies, who never gets breakfast, who gets meds at noon, who was absent yesterday, who will forget their homework without an extra reminder, who gets good behavior points. Having a supply of treats for emergencies really does help. It was the first thing I made sure of for my two peanut allergy students.
I'm glad you are educating the teachers at your school! Mine are pretty aware because of seeing me not eat at all the staff parties...
I totally agree. There is SO much information to remember about each student. I would suggest doing a stash of snacks somewhere. Maybe the office would allow them to be kept in there since she doesn't have a "homeroom.". Or even in the nurse's office......
Your daughter is old enough to help her teacher's remember that she can't have gluten. She needs to be an advocate for herself. She can speak up and say "hey that sort of leaves me out when you have cake and cookie day". Maybe that would make a larger impact.

Annalaise Roberts cookbook is the only one to have!!! Her 2nd edition just came out and it's even better than the first. I always get compliments on anything that I make out of there!! YUMMY stuff.

I noticed that TGIFriday's are made by Heinz. I am writing them to see if any of those things are gluten-free. On the box of potato skins they only list soy and milk on their "allergens". I wonder what is lurking in the other things......

If you happen to have Analaise Robert's gluten-free cookbook. She has a great recipe for a cheesecake crust in her book. I use it all the time and everybody loves it!!

She is a gluten-free cooking genius!! If I had only one gluten-free cookbook hers would be the one I would choose. A few years ago, she created a wedding type cake recipe for me. I was looking for that "wedding cake texture" that couldn't be duplicated. Well this wonderful woman created a recipe for ME. It's on pg 47 of the 2nd edition. I make it all the time and get RAVE reviews from non gluten-free folks. I haven't tried any of her recipes and thoughg" ewww gross". Every single one has been a keeper. LOVE HER BOOK!!! I can't wait to try some of the new recipes in this updated one. I got it in the mail a few days ago.

I made the cake in a mug the other day, however I just used the white of 1 egg instead of the whole thing (eliminates that eggy taste). I also used a flour mix by Annalaise Roberts, and I cut down the oil to 1 T. It turned out great. My dad was very impressed that I baked "such a small cake" ha Oh and I also cooked mine in a corningware "grab it" bowl. I of course also had to top mine with some milk chocolate frosting!! ha Thanks for the great idea!!

What a great idea!! Sort of like an easy-bake oven creation from my childhood. I can't wait to try the recipe.

Ok, so I kinda layed into them today at D & B's because this list is quite different than the list that the location I would be going to is handing out. I told them that they needed to update their info and train their staff there!! GEESH!!
Here is the gluten-free list from corporate:
Suggested Menu Options for WHEAT/GLUTEN Allergies
We have prepared this list of suggested menu items based on the advice of our QA & Food Safety Manager/Nutritionist along with the most current information from our food suppliers and their stated absence of wheat/gluten protein within these items. Please be aware that during normal kitchen operations involving shared cooking equipment and preparation areas, which may or may not include common fryer oil, the possibility exists for cross contact, therefore, food items (including garnishes may come in contact with wheat/gluten proteins. Additionally, fried food items could absorb wheat/gluten proteins during the cooking process. Therefore, we recommend that individuals with these allergies and intolerances avoid ALL fried foods & garnishes. Due to these circumstances, we are unable to guarantee that any menu entr

I believe they picked the pet magazine and are putting a few gluten free recipes in their regular mag. every now and then.

Oh, here are the menu items that are on their "Wheat and Gluten Allergy Options" page from their kitchen.
Grilled Chicken Nachos
Double Cheeseburger Stack
Classic BBQ Ribs with Baked Potato
Char Grilled Sirloin Steak without frazzled onions
The problem with this is the date on the bottom is '05!!! Not terribly current.
I may still be making a call to corporate to find more current info!!

I was wanting to see if anyone had tried eating at Dave and Buster's? (like a chuck-e-cheese for adults , but without the pizza). I got a list of gluten-free options from them. I was just wanting to hear some stories though. What would you recommend doing/not doing? Thanks!!
