These are just recipe sites that I use to find recipes. I convert them if they are not gluten free. I'm not sure what you mean by "peels"???
-Jessica
JessicaAre these gluten-free?
says 'peels' isn't in my area. Where do you live???

I'm going to throw in my vote for gluten free pantry pie crust mix. I love that stuff. Don't expect it to behave exactly like flour crust, it's kinda difficult to roll out and make look beautiful, but it tastes SO yummy. My favorite pies are butterscotch and lemon (not made with pudding please, homemade ONLY)
I'm sure that one of those stores would have the mix. Or I would think they would. You can also order it online, we order it in bulk and store in the freezer. If you like it, I would suggest doing that, it saves you some money Enjoy your pie!! ' Open Original Shared Link free.com/

A post on cookbooks spurred my curiosity. What online recipe sites do you use? What are your favorites and why?
Here are a few of mine

If I remember right, that cereal has oats. I would have to look it up to be totally sure. You were probably glutened. I totally stay away from oats. There is no way to guarantee that there isn't cross contamination with them. Also there are some celiacs that react to the protein in oats. So, personally, I steer clear. It sounds like you need to also

HI,I had some honey comb on Sunday Morning and 40 minutes after eating eat I was sick to my tummy until Monday morning. Not sick enought to keep me down, but enough to feel blah. Was I glutened?

I find that we use our gluten free cookbooks more for the desserts section. For main dishes, I use all the things I cooked pre gluten-free days and substitute ingredients that are safe. I also LOVE online recipe sites. They are so fun and FREE Gotta love that.

I hate that I always and forever more will be a label reader.
I hate not having the convenience of eating whatever I want and "only" worrying about the fat content/calories. Instead I have to check ingredients THEN worry about fat/calories.
I hate not eating what everybody else is eating at large family dinners.
I hate when my cousins husband refuses to eat my gluten free desserts just because they are gluten free!!
I hate to turn down girl scouts.
I hate dating guys who just don't get it when it comes to this disease. We aren't friggin leppers. It's only a diet you morons!!
I hate when somebody eats the rest of my gluten free dinner/dessert.
I hate the feeling of anxiety I get when I go to a new restaurant.
I hate the stupid look on the manager/waiters face when I try to explain what I need.
I also hate the dumb comments that follow the stupid look.
*sigh* that's all for now

If your kiddoes like what you fix for supper, then send the leftovers for their lunch the next day. You can warm them up and put them into a thermos. You could also ask the school to let them use the microwave to warm up their lunch. (I'm pretty sure they would comply if they are asked and explained about the special diet restrictions).
I find that leftovers make the best lunches for me.

Reading this post reminded me of some kids books. The first one being "Everyone Poops" and the second one being "The Gas We Pass, the story of Farts". Check them out from the library for her, at least she might get a good laugh. They are for kids, but I know when I read them, I giggle!!

Greetings,My relatives are having shakenbake tonight and I was wondering if anyone has a gluten-free way of making it?

Yum!! I'm sitting here eating egg rolls as I type. I thought I would share the recipe that I used. The process is time consuming, but it made about 30 egg rolls. I put most of them into the freezer to eat later. I tried frying some and baking some. The frying made them greasy but crispy. The baking was way less grease and still pretty crispy. I think I'll probably bake the rest.
Is It Egg Roll or Eggroll? Recipe #72124This recipe was a long time coming. I have been working on it for
about 6 months. With the help of Bratty I was finally able to put it
down on paper. It is all about the prep, chop before you start. This
is not a whip it up in 10 minutes recipe but it makes enough for
several meals. The number of eggroll or egg rolls you get depends on
if youadd the bean sprouts. My friends and I get together and make
them by the hundreds, of course that required more wine! Feel free
to leave out any ingredient you do not like, there are no rules with
these. Hope y'all like em.
1 lb ground pork
1 large onion, chopped
6 tablespoons garlic, minced (at least)
1-2 teaspoon fresh ginger (no powder please)
3 big carrots, chopped or shredded
1/2-3/4 head napa cabbage, shredded/chopped (regular will work
fine)
1-2 cup bean sprouts (fresh please, leave them out if you do not
like them)
water chestnuts (optional)
celery (optional)
cilantro (optional)
hot pepper, chopped (optional)
salt and pepper
25 eggroll wrappers or lumpia skins, the thin ones,i get them in
the freezer section of my local asian market
25 eggrolls Change size or US/metric
Change to: eggrolls US Metric
1 hour 45 minutes 1 hr prep
Brown the meat in a large pan.
Add onion, garlic, ginger, carrots and some salt and pepper halfway
through.
Remove from heat when carrots are tender.
Stir in cabbage and bean sproutss, this will help cool the mixture
down.
Taste it now and see if it needs any more salt, good huh.
Drain this mixture VERY WELL, moisture is you enemy in this recipe.
I put it in a collander with a plate on top and a weight.
It will look like there are more veggies than meat, that is a good
thing.
Blot it with a paper towel, it does not have to be bone dry, just
not puddling and it needs to be cool before rolling.
We are almost there, have a glass of wine while youare waiting for
it to cool!
Stir occasionally in the collander to get the hiding moisture.
Lay the wrapper so that one point is towards you.
Put about about 3 tablespoons of mixture across the wrapper.
Here is where I add a bit of cilantro, green onion, chopped hot
pepper.
Fold the point that is pointing at you up over the mixture.
Now fold the corner on the right over that, now the point on the
left and begin to roll till you get to the end.
Moisten the last point and finsh the roll.
Freeze these individually on a cookie sheet covered with plastic
wrap than put in freezer bags unless you are eating them right away.
To cook them remove to a cookie sheet (do not thaw) and spray them
with Pam, Bratty used garlic flavored and said it was good.
Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes, turn over and spray again and bake
another 10 to 15 minutes.
They will not get all brown like fried ones but they will be crispy
and delicious.

I had wondered about them being greasy, so I thought I might try to bake a batch also, I had found a recipe that baked them, soooo it's worth a shot. I'll let you know how it goes.
-Jessica, who is headed to the store to get egg roll ingredients
I have said so many times since I went gluten-free that I soo wish I had gone for at least one last egg roll!! I miss them very much, too!I've tried making egg rolls out of the spring roll wrappers. I have to say that we still managed to eat every last one of them, but they were very greasy (even for me!). I think one of these days I am going to try making them again, but I am going to dip the roll into a type of tempura batter, hopefully this will give me a little bit better coating/outside for the egg roll.

I am feeling brave and bored out of my mind today. I believe I will go to the store and FINALLY try to make egg rolls. Wish me luck!! haha

Recently got a gluten-free list from the corporate people at on the border. Today I got brave and tried their food. I ordered the fajitas (beef and chicken) no onions, no sour cream and corn tortillas (not put through the warmer). All items that were supposed to be safe. The waitress was WONDERFUL! She brought out my corn tortillas herself, so that the cooks wouldn't be confused by not warming them. When they brought out my fajitas with onions and sour cream and without chicken she took them back and they re-cooked my food. All the while with a smile on her face.
Ate the food, it was super. About 30 min after eating I got sick. I am so disapointed. I LOVED their food. Chalk it up to cross contamination.

Since everyone is talking about fabric softner sheets, here is this e-mail I had gotten a while back about them and their uses. I don't know for sure if some of them work, but I have used a few of them before like putting a sheet in the trash can.
-Jessica
And all this time we've just been putting Bounce in the dryer:
1. Get rid of ants: It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them.
2. Musty book smells: It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.
3. Repels mosquitoes: Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.
4. Eliminates static electricity from your television screen. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.
5. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.
6. Freshen the air in your home. Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.
7. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.
8. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.
9. Freshen the air in your car. Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat.
10. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The anti static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food and the pan while the fabric softening agents soften the baked-on food.
11. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.
12. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the loose hairs.
13. Eliminate static electricity from venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.
14. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.
15. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.
16. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight so they will smell better in the AM.

I think that it is pretty much like everyone has already said. You have brands that you trust, and brands that you do not trust. Most of the time they are not labeled "gluten free" unless you are in a speciality store. Even then, it isn't a 100% guarantee. You will learn what companies have "all ingredients clearly listed on the label" policies. You will come to LOVE those companies. Eating gluten free is a constant learning process.
-Jessica
For instance, I've heard that Lays chips are gluten-free (except for Doritos and maybe a few others) and Progresso soups seems to list allergens, and some Francesco Rinaldi pasta sauces, etc..... I've been eating stuff like that (and other mainstream products) for a while now, but I seem to be getting a reoccurance of symptoms and I'm wondering if I am getting contamination. I've gone strictly gluten-free; eating only things that either say gluten-free on them or that are obviously, naturally gluten-free. I feel 100% better already. So, my question is:Shouldn't we stick strictly to products that say "gluten-free" on them, or that are known to be made in a gluten-free-environment? Does anyone else react to supposed gluten-free mainstream products, like I seem to be? Btw, I do call to ensure that there are no gluten containing ingredients before I eat any mainstream products, so, I'm certain that whatever gluten I'm getting has to be from cross-contamination from production or something like that. I also only use gluten-free toiletries and beauty products, so it can't be that.
Thanks
~donna

Unfortunately peeps ARE gluten free (I'm not a fan).
However, as Richard mentioned they ARE fun to microwave. I personally LOVE to blow them up in the microwave. Always remember to place them on something that you want to throw away, because they are SUPER hard to get off of the plate or whatever you put them on.
Also, here is a fun website devoted to peep research! ha (aka blowing them up, drounding them, etc) It's good for a few laughs.
