The best policy is to get the name of the manufacturer and a 1-800 number (if possible). Call them and ask if their product contains gluten. They are of course the most knowledgable on the makings of their products.
Pharmacists and doctors are not going to know if a medication is gluten free. There are thousands of medications and generics for those medications. It is IMPOSSIBLE to keep up with the status of them.
If you can at least get the name of the drug company you can do a search online for their phone number to call. All of the drug companies I have called before are SUPER helpful. Good luck!

April, Where is the Genghis Kahn in KC? Sounds like you had a great experience!!
-Jessica
This past weekend, I had a great meal at Genghis Khan Mongolian Barbecue. This is one of those places where you place your choice of ingredients in a bowl and they cook it for you.I had been several times in the past prior to going gluten-free, but this was my first trip back since. I brought a bottle of San-J wheat-free tamari with me, as I thought I would probably need it.
They have a station with all the veggies, one with all the meats/seafood ingredients, and a final one with all the sauces. I skipped the noodles in favor of rice (which they bring to the table). At the last station, I made my sauce using their "Spicy" recipe. I omitted their soy sauce and their Sacha Sauce because I wasn't sure of their gluten-free status, but I used the other ingredients like sesame oil, ginger water, garlic water, etc. Each ingredient had its own ladle, so I felt pretty good about that.
I added my own soy sauce and no one blinked. Then, instead of handing my bowl to the guys at the grill, I walked it over to the bartender. I said something about having Celiac Disease and he nodded understandingly and said, "You want me to take this to the back and have them cook it on a clean pan?" It was that easy. The waitress brought it to my table when it was ready.
It was really easy & really delicious. I'd highly recommend it - just bring your own sauce.

I am also a big fan of the nerd show!! haha I LOVE IT!! Sheldon has MAJOR ocd, cracks me up. I find myself laughing out loud at every episode of that show. VERY funny.
American Idol is the current saving grace. It is also pretty funny right now with all the bad singers.....gotta laugh at those.
Thank Goodness Antiques Roadshow is not in re-runs! ha (does that make me a nerd that I watch that show, I LOVE IT).

Yes, the writers strike is creating the ULTIMATE cliff hanger!!
I am wondering also what is the deal with Rebecca's father....was it William or is it this new writer/drifter type guy....hummmm. Also, why is she so embarassed of him and not want him near her. Did something ugly happen there or is it just because he is Rebecca's dad??
I also can't believe that now Robert doesn't want to have a baby......is he scared because of the miscarriage or what is his deal??
On to Friday Night Lights............geesh the whole kicking the sister out deal was pretty harsh!!!
Maybe we are seperated at birth.......FNL is one of my favorite shows too!!Oh and Brothers and Sisters was just getting GOOD! They just dropped a bunch of stuff in our lap, like that new guy is he really Rebecca's father, what's gong to happen in the election, the affair is out in the open....
CLIFF HANGERS of epic porportions!!!!

My favorites are:
Hamburger
Mushroom

Green Peppers
Peperoni
then also

Now I am craving pizza!! Mmmm

Ahhh I envy you folks who have cable. We live out in the country where there is no possible way of even getting cable!!! We have an antenna.
My dad loves 2 & 1/2 men!! It's a pretty funny show.
I too have to confess...I watched part of the biggest looser the other night ....I was just happy to have something that I hadn't seen before!!! ha
I miss :
Grey's Anatomy
Men in Trees
Desperate Housewives
Brothers and Sisters
Two and a half men
Friday Night Lights
I don't get to watch them all regularly, but I guess regularly enough that I am missing them!!
I feel the worst for the other people, like the folks who work on the set who aren't going to benifit at all from the strike (make-up artists, KRAFT Service workers, janitors etc). Those are the folks who I worry about. Most probably live paycheck to paycheck to begin with, and now they have NO work!!

Is anyone else sick of the writers strike?? I AM!!! I miss having my Grey's Anatomy, and a few other shows. BOOOOO on the writers strike!!!
All that is on T.V. these days is reality show after reality show...........that gets old fast. Am I alone in this??

That recipe sounds super easy and very tasty!! Thank you for sharing it.

I made this last night, it was so good! I tried it out on my co-workers this morning and everyone loved it!Ingredients
Nonstick cooking spray
1-1/4 c Pamela's baking mix (see note at bottom)
1 teaspoon finely shredded lemon peel/zest
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup buttermilk (I just squeezed ~1TBS lemon juice and filled rest w/milk-let set ~15min)
2 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese (Neufch?tel), softened
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 cup fresh or frozen berries (I used blueberries)
Directions
1. Lightly coat a 9x1-1/2-inch round baking pan with cooking spray; set aside. In a medium bowl stir together the flour and lemon zest. Set aside.
2. In a medium mixing bowl beat the 3/4 cup granulated sugar and butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed until combined. Add the 2 eggs and the vanilla. Beat on low to medium speed for 1 minute. Alternately add the flour mixture and buttermilk to the egg mixture, beating just until combined after each addition. Pour into prepared pan.
3. In a small mixing bowl beat the cream cheese and the 1/4 cup granulated sugar on medium to high speed until combined. Add the 1 egg. Beat until combined. Arrange the 1 cup berries over the batter in the pan. Pour the cream cheese mixture over all.
4. Bake in a 375 degree F oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool slightly on wire rack. Serve warm. If desired, top with additional fruit. Makes 10 servings.
If you don't have Pamelas mix:
1-1/4 cups gluten-free flour
appropriate amt xanthan gum...
1-1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

Also the link to the board rules/guidelines is missing. I know that we can always use a refresher reading those so I hope that it is put back into place so folks don't forget the manner in which we should behave here at glutenfreeforum.com .

I found these at wal-mart last night. They are sold in smaller boxes there (which is good because you can try them without a huge box to eat if you do NOT like them ha). They are not bad. I wish they were a little less hard (the syrup they used to hold the nuts together turns into a hard hard glue)ha A good snack to keep in your purse for times when you are starving and food is nowhere in sight.
Just a warning....they have two bars with just nuts (both appear to be gluten-free) and 2 bars with fruit and other things in them as well as the nuts.....the other two are NOT gluten-free. They have crispy rice which has barley malt. Just a heads up incase you just read the allergy warning because the barley is not listed in the allergy warning.

Since being diagnosed we have been very label conscious about what we buy. We used to always use a seasoning packet for the pot roast but that had gluten so we stopped using it. Now being gluten free twice we have made pot roast and twice I got glutened some how.
Basically, we buy the beef, some potatoes, carrots, celery and onion. Clean all the veggies and toss everything in a crock pot. Throw some organic spices on there (gluten free) and let it cook all day.
Now we are stuck trying to figure out what the culprit could be. Is it possible the butcher handling the beef is contaminating it? What else to look for? The last time we made it (last week) the beef did have one of those net things over it so that would maybe be an issue in my book, but that doesn't explain why it happened the week or so before when it didn't have one.
Anyway, if you have any input on other things I should be looking at I would appreciate it. I ogga have my meat n potatoes.
I would also vote for the crock pot being the culprit. I got glutened by my parents crock pot and now won't eat anything that comes out of it.

Those sound VERY good. I miss having granola bars. Thanks for the tip! Do you think they are sold in regular stores (I am not a sam club member)?

I absolutely LOVE chipotle and have not had any problems there. I know there can be a language barrier, but usually the cashier is a person who speaks English. You could always ask them.
I am sorry you had such a bad experience there. I know that makes it hard to eat out once you get burned!

I am also a member of the "no boil" philosophy. I just put some sauce on the bottom of the pan then noodles and begin the layering. It turns out great every time. Not a bit dry either!! YUM!!

Since I usually only feed 4 people I skip the stuffing.
Stuffing/dressing is one of my FAVORITE parts of the holiday meal. I couldn't skip it!!

Hi there~
I was just wondering if anyone here knew if General Mills Little Einsteins cereal is gluten free? It *APPEARS* to be by the ingredient list and I have emailed G.M. but have not heard back from them yet. Thanks for any info!
Kim
I have been eating that one and have not had any troubles with it. As someone else stated. General Mills is a great company and is one that you can just read the labels on and it will clearly list any gluten containing ingredients!! YEAH for GM!!

Honeysuckle White is gluten-free. You can go to their website and it will list the gluten-free status of any of their products.

Dear Jessica,
I know, I could not believe they changed them! They are great the way they are! Maybe we could start a petition or something to get the wheat taken out? What do you guys think? Or, perhaps I should write a letter explaining how many people will no longer be purchasing their product due to the change.
Dear jennyj,
The noodles are addictive! I love them! Maybe writing the company will help fix this. These things are one of the few things that actually fills me up. Not many foods do that for me. I am almost always hungry!
Sincerely,
NoGluGirl
I tried calling them the other day, it was a long drawn out process and I got annoyed and hung up. I guess I may have to try calling again when I have more time!! I LOVED those noodles.
