If it isn't on the Heinz list then it's not safe. Heinz is a wonderful company and that is why they put out the list, so we know what is safe. The tater tots aren't.

Here is the response that I got from them in May 2003
Thank you for taking the time to contact us about KINGSFORD Briquets. Weappreciate your interest in our products.
Both corn and wheat starches are used in this product, but we predominantly use
cornstarch. In any case, the briquets burn at such a high temperature that the
starch is burned, it does not transfer to the food.
We do not make any food products that do not contain gluten.
If I can be of further assistance to you, please contact me again.
Again, thank you for contacting us.
Sincerely,
Terry Dittus
Product Specialist
They say that the starch burns off, however I have ended up sick several times so I don't use it.
-Jessica
-
so...I've been grilling meat for months and giving them to my son.... does that mean he has been glutinized? The meat doesn't touch the briquettes. I was going to grill tonight.....
Its a gas grill, that has the briquettes at the bottom.
As long as they are the lava rock/rock type you should be ok.
The material in question is charcoal which is made of wheat and corn starches usually. You use lighter fluid to light it and it is a one time use thing. Not the kind used in gas grills.

Didn't you hear that straws are magic and they are able to remove gluten?
I'll take a slice of pizza, one dozen doughnuts and one straw please!!!!

Really all a snickerdoodle is is a sugar cookie with cinnamon. You take the dough, roll it into balls then roll into a cinnamon sugar mixture, then bake. Easy as pie (gluten-free pie of course )

At the beginning of my gluten free days, I was using a charcoal grill and kingsford charcoal and was getting sick after each time I bbqed. Finally sent a letter to kingsford and they use corn and wheat for their charcoal. They "claim" that it burns off before reaching the food, however I know that I had a reaction. I went out and bought a gas grill after getting their email.

I used the gluten free panty old fashioned cake and cookie mix (i buy it in bulk, it also makes a awesome lemon cake). Just followed the instructions on the back of the bag for snickerdoodles mmmmmmmmmmmm

I called the location where I had eaten and told them about the menu mixup. The manager thanked me and appologized and after I kinda drew out the phone call he said he would send me a gift cert to try it again! ha Yeah!! I get to go back to outback (says the poor college grad)

Here is the quick response that I got from them. Clears up my question, but not my waste of time and money on an overpriced hamburger patty and baked potato. GRRR

Good Day,I'm very sorry - an oversight was made by our printer.
Our gluten-free menu that is listed on our website is correct - the Alice Springs
Chicken and Garlic Mashed Potatoes along with the Chocolate Thunder from
Down Under are Gluten Free.
Again, I apologize and appreciate your e-mail to help us correct this oversight.
Thank you,
Lilah

Went to outback yesterday (only my 2nd visit ever). Found that the paper menu had changed at this location and doesn't include some of the favorites (or at least what I was planning on ordering) . HOWEVER online they are still listed as gluten free. Anyone have any idea what is going on? Some of the items on the paper menu not listed gluten-free anymore were alice springs chicken, roasted garlic mashed potatoes and the chocolate thunder from down under.
I have written them the following letter and will post the info when I recieve any about it. I just don't want others to be as disapointed as I was on my visit. If you have any info on the changes let me know.
-Jessica
I visited a Outback location yesterday and the menu that they had was different from the online menu. I had visited that location previously and had ordered the alice springs chicken and garlic mashed potatoes. This time when I went the gluten free menu did not list them as being gluten-free. It also did not list the chocolate thunder from down under with a gluten-free labeling beside it.
I am now confused and very disapointed in my visit. I live over an hour away from any outback location and had went specifically to have the mashed potatoes and chicken. However the trip was basically a waste because of the menu discrepencies.
I would like to know which menu is correct the online menu or the paper menu at the restaurant. I am not happy with my long disapointing trip to outback.
Sincerely,

Was the potato salad homemade?? Could have been that or the sausage, or maybe both.

I eat sweet baby ray's all the time. I had some just the other day with no issues. LOVE IT!!

I like these cookies, however they are kinda expensive and the shipping on them is pretty bad!! Cookies are 2 bucks a pop (have to get them by the dozen) and another 9 dollars for shipping. OUCH!!

A few months ago I was looking at one of their new lines (Tutti Dolci) . All of the lotions in that line either had wheat or oats in them. I think they do a pretty good job with their labeling (or at least seems that way). Read labels.

Pasta Salad Glob
in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Posted
After going to a potluck picnic this weekend I had a craving for pasta salad. Sooooo I thought I would make an attempt at it today. Made the sauce/dressing (which turned out yummy) while the pasta was boiling and I was getting sooo hungry and excited!!
Drained the pasta and began thinking about how it falls apart grrrrrr!!! Cooled the pasta down and then mixed it with the dressing (mixed it carefully and lightly). The pasta fell apart even more!
So basically I ended up with a pasta salad glob or gloop. It tastes great but presentation isnt' so pretty!! ha Any ideas as how to keep the pasta from looking like a glob?? I would love to make a pasta salad that looks pretty too!
