  2. I know how bad it can make people feel when one of our board members singles out 1 person to post a "happy birthday" to. I think it is pretty mean <_< ...in my own opinion. Soooooo on MY birthday I wanted to make sure that ALL of us get a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! So here's a shout out to:

  3. I completely agree!!!!

OMG - - don't even get me started on Grey's. TOTALLY LAME. A DEER????? oh, yeah, they'd let Izzy defibrillate a deer. <_<

and George and Izzy - - EWWWWWWWWWWWWW!! it's so NOT right!!! I don't get it. And what's with all the interns? last season - six - this season - about 30 of them with nothing to do? and.......Meredith has a sister?!! oh yeah, out of nowhere she shows up.........

and speaking of Meredith - WTH? WHO would break up w/ McDreamy? Oh I am SO annoyed with that whole story line....but I guess she's been kinda messed up ever since the near drowning, maybe?

    Highly annoyed wtih whole show.....

I am at peace with my tv again.......Grey's is back on :)

Would it REALLY be typical Derrick/Meredith relationship if they weren't in CONSTANT turmoil?? ha I was cracking up when they go "break-up kiss?.......break-up sex?" ha Typical THEM! I did read/hear somewhere that Meredith will have some new love interests this season.....soooo that means More Mchotties

I am also not a huge fan of the George/Izzy story line. It just isn't normal.

I thought the deer was a little out there........however I was cracking up when they used the paddles and shocked it back to life. It just got up and looked around like "HUH?" lol

I am SO glad the show is back on..........YEAH!!!!

  4. Hey guys,

I had a severe bout of food poisoning (not gluten) on Sunday and ended up in the ER. Now my tummy is killing me, and my gastro appt isn't for a week. I was going to buy some prilosec oTC, but it's not on the gluten-free drug list on glutenfreedrugs.com and I cannot reach the company (no phone contact listed on their website and they haven't replied ot an email from days ago...). I am almost positive it is gluten-free, but dont want to take any more chances!

    Thanks

    Kathleen

    Kathleen-

I just called on it yesterday. It is gluten-free.

  5. I only caught the last 10 minutes or so, but the first thing I heard was Holly Robinson-Peete say "gluten" and how when they removed wheat from her son's diet, he improved greatly (words to that effect).

I wish I had seen the whole show...

I was actually super disapointed in that part. I hated that she said that they had to remove gluten and then only mentioned removing wheat........bummer for the mis-information!!! Hopefully she knows that gluten is in more than JUST wheat....

  6. Okay, today on Y&R at the coffeehouse, it has Nick handing a strawberry smoothie over to Daniel (who is gluten intolerant), and said "Here, it has wheat grass in it, I promised your Mom I would look out for you"......

Huh? I know there is controversy over whether or not wheat grass is safe for us, but of ALL things for the writers to put in there, why did it have to be "wheat" grass?

    Sheesh!

Oh geesssssssssssshhhh....how did I KNOW they would screw it up haha Go figure.....

  7. As you may, or may not know, I had upper and lower scopes done yesterday. I have been having tons of trouble for several months now. I finally got the scopes scheduled and had them yesterday. Other than being a bit tired today and having a sore jaw....I feel good today.

I believe that I might have an answer to some of the pain I have been experiencing over the last few months. I have a hiatial hernia. The doctor said that my esophagus was erroding due to the acid. He had put me on prilosec otc (still need to check to see if it's gluten-free).

He also found some polyps in my colon. I find that pretty scarey for someone in their 20's. It is being sent off for testing.

He also took some biopsies of my small intestine. I guess he figured while he was in there, he would check things out.

If anyone can offer any advice on hiatial hernias or anything else. I'd love to hear it. I mostly just wanted to update the folks who have been so supportive and have sent me kind wishes and such. Thanks everybody for the kind words, they DO help!! I am hopefully now on the road to feeling a bit better again!

  8. I purchased some gluten-free graham crackers at Vitamin Cottage (a store in CO) from a new local company called Out of the Breadbox. I was pretty excited about them and so was DD, but alas, they fall into the nasty buscuit category. They tasted burnt, not sweet at all.

I figure with a little butter and some added sugar, though I could probably make a pretty decent gluten-free graham cracker crust. That is the easy part.

What the heck should I put IN the crust???

I have some over-ripe bananas I've been saving for gluten-free banana bread, but maybe I should go for a gluten-free banana cream pie?

We don't have any dairy or other sensitivities to speak of and the words "from scratch" aren't a regular part of my vernacular. ;)

Philadelphia cream cheese makes a "ready to go" type of cheesecake filling. It is in the dairy section right by the cream cheese. You could fill your crust with that and then top with some strawberries or blueberry pie filling mmmmm It is SOOOO good!! Enjoy.

  9. I guess I dont know how to use this site as i have yet to have anyone reply to a question that I have had! Is there a short course on how to use this site?

Your 1st post was at 10:41 and the second post asking if anyone was going to answer was only 10 min later at 10:51. A lot of people work or are busy during the day, so it will most often take longer than 10 min to get a reply. Be patient and hang in there!! Someone will post soon.

  10. The problem is not so much being in the same room as a gluten product, but being in the same room with gluten flour. Flour is notoriously bad at flying all over the place, getting inhaled, getting stuck in small places and being impossible to clean up, etc. I have no problem sitting next to someone eating a wheat-bread sandwich, but I would not want to be anywhere near wheat flour.

I totally agree. Flour hangs in the air FOREVER and is terribly hard to clean up. I have gotten sick before from being in the room with some students who were making wheat bread in class. It was NOT a good feeling. It just isn't something that I can or will risk anymore. I stay away from flour and people baking with it.
