  1. We have to have a super quick to fix meal tomorrow so I'm heating up a turkey breast that is already cooked, making instant mashed potatoes with water and Nucoa only (no milk) and I'll probably pop open a can of green beans.
  2. Leftover pot roast makes the best soup! I would also add some veggies such as onions carrots and celery at a minimum. Maybe also green beans, corn and peas. Heat it through and then add the noodles since they are already cooked.
  3. I had a big bowl of leftover cranberry salad and a prepared falafel wrap from the grocery store. The wrap wasn't gluten-free but I don't need gluten-free. The store does make prepared falafel patties and I do get those sometimes. They are gluten-free. I also get some lettuce and tomato slices from their prepared food bar. We make sandwiches out of them...
  4. We were out all day too. Early lunch at Olive Garden for SIL's birthday. They all had cake and ice cream. Daughter had some gluten-free cookies and ice cream. I tried a bit of a cookie. Tasted oddly burnt to me. I can't remember the brand but I think I read here that they are sold at Starbucks. I've just never seen them at Starbucks. After that...
  5. I have not tried those but I have severe problems with sugar alcohols. So I don't eat things containing them. Have you tried Lara Bars? I can't have those because of the almonds they contain. Okay they might not all have almonds but the risk of cross contamination is there so I haven't tried them. They would have protein though. Bumblebars would also...
  6. I'm with you! Daughter knows if it's in there, to put it back.
  7. I hated the tan ones as a child. Would pick them out and try to throw them away when my parents weren't looking. For some reason I thought they tasted less chocolatey than the dark brown ones. Those were my favorite. Although I was happy they got rid of them, I did not like the blue ones. I just think blue food is wrong. I have a friend who claims...
  8. This is an old post. I have never seen gluten in refried beans. Other types of beans, yes. Like Ranch beans or Chili beans. They are super easy to make yourself though. Either cook some dried pinto beans or use canned beans. Mash with a potato masher and if desired add some olive oil and seasonings such as cumin and powdered onion.
  9. I believe Viennas are what is served at Target. They are in fact gluten-free. Actually any and all hot dogs I have seen these days are gluten-free. The one I know of that did used to contain wheat no longer does. Can't remember the name of it now. I rarely buy them but when I do they are usually uncured beef. Can't remember the brand.
  10. There are now some with pretzels. I don't know if cross contamination is an issue or not. We can't have them because of a peanut allergy. So I never checked.
  11. Hmmm... Daughter used to have this but doesn't know. I had assumed it was caused by dairy. But she outgrew her dairy allergy, now has some dairy and no bumps. She also outgrew the gluten allergy but not wheat. Because of this, her diet is still mainly gluten-free, but it did open up a few possibilities like barely and malt. Still no bumps!
  12. If it's made of oats then chances are it's not gluten-free.
  13. Yep! Gluten is not a problem for me but I do have food allergies. Took me a while to discover this. I have diabetes so I have to watch my carbs. I ate a lot of cottage cheese for breakfast but couldn't always find the kind I wanted or I just got sick of it and wanted a change. So I would eat boiled eggs. We were living in NY at the time and my daughter...
  14. It has been posted elsewhere here that Pace is not gluten-free.
  15. High fructose corn syrup is the cheap and common thing to use here as a sweetener.
  16. My naturopath advises it, but I never tried it because if I recall correctly it seemed complicated and there was a diet that went along with it that seemed even more complicated. I bought Candex. It seems to work for me. I bought it at Fred Meyer but I have also bought it online. It's vegetarian and free of all common allergens. Hmmm... It does say...
  17. I use Savory Choice or Pacific and some sweet rice flour. http://www.savorychoice.com/about/index.html
  18. Jeepers. Here I was wondering what to do with it. I bought a package to make tabouli with, but daughter refused to eat the stuff. I never got around to making it. She hates tomatoes though so probably wouldn't like it anyway. Then daughter won a bag of it in the stuff from Manna Mills. She got a tote bag of Bob's Red Mill products, including a $2...
  19. Shelton's Chicken and Wild Rice soup is gluten free. We have additional food allergies, so it's the only one we can eat. I always keep a few cans of that onhand just in case.
  20. I didn't know they still had tacos. They quit serving them years ago in NY, and they don't have them here. But as you said, it must be a regional thing. Perhaps you'll have to call them.
  21. And it has been in there for a while now! I knew of wheat glucose syrup because I saw some sorbet at Trader Joe's and wanted to buy it for my daughter. But when I saw that the glucose syrup was derived from wheat, I put it back. As for the Mentos, we thought they were one of the few candies she could safely eat. She has food allergies in addition to...
  22. Thanks! I do know that they are supposed to declare the wheat, however... I saw some stuff at Big Lots and it's not necessarily the freshest stuff. Or manufactured in this country. So that kind of worried me. Then I got to craving tamales. I know these are not the best tamales around, but given my food allergies, one that I'm not allergic to. I don...
  23. Does anyone know if these are gluten free? They do contain modified food starch. I've always been leary of that unless I know the source and from what I've seen it doesn't list the source. Thanks!
  24. I just bought some. Both the old and new packages appeared to be gluten free. Daughter preferred the shape of the old ones. They look like flowers. She ate some and had no problems.
  25. Interesting about the Dasani. I've never been able to finish a bottle of it. Just doesn't taste right to me and I don't feel well when I drink it. AFAIK I can tolerate gluten but I have other food allergies.
