  1. Can someone please help me? I was prescribed a new birth control pill which has mannitol in it. I called the company for Lo Loestrin (the birth control pill), and they confirmed the mannitol was derived from wheat. And they do not test the product either.

SO  1.) I assume I should not take this? ...Confusing when I google it for help. Also, I just purchased an iron supplement that has isomalt , and it is clearly labeled gluten free, and therefore

2.) I assume that is safe for me?...  I am confused also the difference between isomalt and mannitol also.

  2. Does anyone have suggestions of salon grade gluten-free shampoo and conditioner that does not contain artificial fragrance? I have tried them all and not any I like or tolerate well. I used to use Colorproof but they changed the formula and is a really strong fragrance now. I use Innersense some, but it is drying. The products at WF or Earthfare are not salon grade. Thanks!

Looking at the prescribing information (see section 11 in link) CREON does not have any ingredients that would be expected to contain gluten. The ingredients are all pretty refined and thus also unlikely to be contaminated.

If the enzymes were produced by bacteria one would have to look into the media the bacteria were grown in, but this is NOT the case.  In CREON the enzymes are an extract from pig pancreatic glands.

I think it is unlikely that CREON contains gluten. I agree, it would be so nice if manufacturers had to label drugs that contained gluten.

Agree with all you said too...!

  4. Hi There,

I saw some older posts about Creon. I was prescribed this recently and tried calling the manufacturer (on hold over an hour with transferred three times), and still no one could confirm that this is gluten free. I am so frustrated with trying to call manufacturers about meds only to be told they do not have that information and will escalate it to their medical department. How can a company not know if their product contains gluten?! I know one thing for sure, I want to get involved with lobbying for better laws/ regulations for labeling prescription meds. I take very few, but anytime I have been prescribed something and want to confirm the med Is gluten free, it's like pulling teeth to get any info, and never timely. I have taken digestive enzymes for years, and that always helps, but does anyone know of something similar to Creon that is gluten free? I also want to check out the gliadin x, even though I know this is specific for breaking down gluten. I already have an enzyme from a different company for this/ any cross contamination. The Creon would be for diarrhea I still have/ and a diagnosis of bile acid diarrhea.

    Thanks for your thoughts!
