  1. I've read that both germ and bran are gluten free in themselves but difficult to separate cleanly from the kernel, so there will be cross contamination.
  2. When was last time you had your b12 checked? Vitamin B12 deficiency is common. It is known to cause a wide spectrum of neurological syndromes, including autonomic dysfunction. Three cases are discussed here in which drenching night sweats were thought to be caused by vitamin B12 deficiency. All three responded dramatically to vitamin B12 therapy. https...
  3. Last time I got really sick for a couple of days I had eaten gluten free cinnamon buns made with wheat starch. I've avoided wheat starch since and never been that sick again. Could be a coincidence, I don't know, but sometimes it's not enough that a product is labeled gluten free. The allowed 20 ppm (varies between countries) is too much for some.
  4. Found an old discussion on another site about similar symptoms to yours. The original poster eventually got some relief from b12. I hope you find something that helps. https://healthunlocked.com/glutenfreeguerrillas/posts/130589691/shock-symptoms-when-badly-glutened-do-you-have-them
  5. Any chance you could be hypoglycemic when you get that reaction?
  6. Vinegar is sometimes made from grains. It's apparently considered gluten free despite this, but people with DH might be extra sensitive. Have you tried the same brand of chips without vinegar?
  7. Was the beer gluten free? I understand Corona contains barley, so it's not completely gluten free. If you normally don't get symptoms from that beer, it could have been something else, or perhaps how traces from several sources, including the beer, added up. According to this link Corona isn't gluten free: https://wheatbythewayside.com/is-corona-beer...
  8. B12 deficiency can cause gray hair.
  9. Found this definition, and the info that it may resemble DH: Chronic blistering dermatosis of childhood (CBDC) [...] is a rare blistering skin disease characterized by the presence of tense bullae and the linear deposition of IgA at the dermal-epidermal junction of lesional and perilesional skin. The disease may resemble bullous impetigo, bullous erythema...
  10. B12 is really important. Sometimes doctors assume b12 must be OK if you don't have macrocytic anemia but that's not the case. You can be deficient anyway.
  11. DH sometimes gets worse from iodine, so it could help some to cut out excessive iodine from food and/or supplements. It's an essential mineral though and can't be avoided completely. The daily requirement is something like 150 micrograms. Perhaps avoid iodized salt for a while and see if it makes a difference.
  12. Here's an article about a possible connection between gluten and elevated liver enzymes: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7868701/#!po=30.1980 "Many studies have shown improvement or normalization in aminotransferases with GFD [gluten free diet] and relapse with a gluten challenge." Also, about 1 in 40 to 1 in 60 people with celiac...
  13. You mentioned in another thread how the rash had reappeared after you had handled kelp on the beach. Perhaps because seaweed is rich in iodine, which can trigger DH? You could always try that again. If it doesn't work, at least you got a day on the beach.
  14. The Purkinje cells in the cerebellum can be affected by gluten. "Patients with gluten ataxia have antibodies against Purkinje cells. Antigliadin antibodies cross-react with epitopes on Purkinje cells." https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11971090/ Interesting that you could actually feel a burning sensation in the area of the cerebellum.
  15. Apparently there are three types of tissue transglutaminase IgA, type 2,3 and 6. Type 3 is the one most strongly associated with DH. I suppose your test was for type 2, the one associated with gut problems. Some people's DH seems to get worse from iodine, so instead of reducing gluten before diagnosis, perhaps it could give som relief to cut out excess...
  16. Apparently copper is important for iron absorbtion. If low iron is caused by malapbsorption I suppose theres a risk for low copper as well, even though copper deficiency is generally considered rare.
  17. Perhaps because you no longer get iron from gluten-containing whole grains and fortified flour? Possibly other nutrients as well. You could compare the nutritional value of food you no longer eat, with the nutritional value of the glutenfree food you've replaced it with, to see if you get less iron now.
  18. Here's another interesting article about gluten ataxia. Gluten ataxia: when grain attacks brain https://www.foodsmatter.com/coeliac-disease/general-articles/gluten-ataxia-06-16.html It says, among other things, that people with gluten ataxia may test negative for the usual gluten-related antibodies but positive for ttg-6 antibodies. Unfortunately...
  19. They don't always hide in the bed, sometimes they hide in narrow cracks som distance away from the bed (they can make themselves very flat) and only come out to feed at night.
  20. There is vegan cheese, so you can still have pizza.
  21. Be aware that acid reflux can be "silent", i e not experienced as heartburn or indigestion, but irritate the airways which could explain the coughing. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/314531
  22. What kind of carbs do you eat? Many gluten free alternatives seem to be made with quite a lot of pure starch (corn starch, rice starch, even wheat starch sometimes) as opposed to whole grains. I've been wondering what that means from a GI (glycemic index) point of view.
  23. You won't like this idea, but have you thought of bed bugs? Not everyone get a rash from their bites, so the bites only show on some people. The bites often appear in clusters, like three in a row.
  24. If you were iron deficient (as you were prescribed iron supplements) perhaps you have other nutritional deficiencies as well. Which nutrients have been checked? Gluten intolerance can lead to malapbsorption so eating well may not be enough.
  25. There might be gluten in the glue on some cigarette papers. I have no personal experience, but googled and found an old topic on this site. Glue is sometimes made by boiling wheat flour and water.
