  1. I like Canyon Bakehouse - Ancient Grain is my favorite. Most gluten free bread tastes like yeast too much for me, but this one doesn't. You can order it online.
  2. Be sure to read the labels of any grooming products. We were going to use a cat dry shampoo and saw that it contained wheat. That would be a no go. Good luck!
  3. My first cousin, her sister and her daughter have been diagnosed. Two via tests and the other via genetic testing. Their mom and my mom may have had it but we're not sure. I am now gluten free after having horrible problems and I strongly suspect celiac but my sister just tested negative. I'm checking to see if she only has a total test versus the panel...
  4. I had stomach pain every night and it was getting to every time I ate. I was also super tired and felt crappy - not to mention hours and hours in the bathroom. The majority of the problems I had went away after going gluten free, and then dairy free too. Especially after I stopped cross-contaminating myself. I still have some issues but it is so much better...
  5. For your lesions - check your hair products for wheat, wheat germ and other products like that. I found out the conditioner I was using had wheat in it and I got lesions on my head. I stopped using that product and they went away. I have not been diagnosed but have first degree relatives that were diagnosed. For me milk/lactose caused diarrhea and gluten...
  6. I forgot to mention that my daughter had to stop dairy when she was little - like 6 or 7. This was before we knew we were probable celiacs (first degree family member diagnosed and another one genetically tested positive). Your 2 year old may also have celiac...
  7. After I stopped eating gluten, I was still having diarrhea and had to stop dairy too. It is super common.
  8. I am so sorry you are going through this. I have had a whole host of issues over the course of my life but only recently tied it to gluten. I have not been officially diagnosed. I went gluten free in April and then figured out a few months later that dairy is also a problem for me. I can eat hard cheeses and some skim milk cheese but everything else gives...
  9. @Tracy414Just figured out that I was using a conditioner with wheat in it. Once I stopped using the conditioner the red, itchy bumps went away. Check your lotions, shampoo, conditioner and all other products for gluten.
  10. So very sorry for your loss. She was so graceful and gracious. A true example of service in action. May she rest in peace reunited with the love of her life. Best wishes to King Charles III and long live the King!
  11. Thank you so much. I am already taking Magnesium so I just won't buy more
  12. I was looking for Tryptophan at Walgreens and ended up with Melatonin. I have been taking it since going gluten free and that has helped me sleep well.
  13. For me, before I even heard of celiac - I found that any Canadian whiskey gave me heartburn. I switched to vodka or rum and it has been much better. I also switched from beer to wine long ago.....
  14. One of the things I kept doing to myself was cross-contaminating what I was eating once I started on the gluten free path. I put my gluten-free bread into the family toaster - without thinking that through. I did other stupid stuff like using the relish that had been used for hamburgers or tuna fish sandwiches which made it contaminated. Anything where...
  15. Same with Canyon Bakehouse gluten-free products. Taste and texture are good and the bread slices are smaller. Consider taking supplements - a good multiple with Calcium, B Complex, D3, Magnesium, Niacin, Thiamine. You lose your B vitamins going gluten free.
  16. Yes, welcome! You are not crazy and you are definitely not alone. You have found your family here. Many wise people that help us all on our journey. And @knitty kitty holy smokes - I didn't even consider that animals that consume grain may lead to issues for us. Thank you for mentioning that. Wow!
  17. I am so sorry that you have had such a rough time. I was having all kinds of issues but then found we have celiac in the family and that explained a lot of the symptoms I had. In addition to multiple vitamins I'm taking a B complex, Niacin, Thiamin, Magnesium Glycinate, D3 and I'm finally getting some relief. Consider taking other supplements too. I really...
  18. If you are still having symptoms - consider keeping a food diary. I am finding that now that gluten is gone, my body doesn't like dairy. Oh joy....
  19. It is my pleasure. I am learning so much and it has made a lot of my past life make sense and gives me hope for the future. Before I went gluten free - it was a gamble to leave the house and I was turning down social engagements because I didn't know how I would feel that day or if I would have so many problems that I had to cancel. I was job hunting and...
  20. I should add that I am not taking D3 alone. I was taking a multiple (that contained wheat) and an Omega 3. Then I found out that the vast majority of the symptoms I was experiencing was part of Celiac. I have not been officially diagnosed but it has been diagnosed in close relatives. Learning that I needed to go gluten free led me here and I found that...
  21. I had half of my hair fall out. While testing for causes - we found my vitamin D was off the charts - low. I am supplementing and will continue to do so. I live in the Pacific Northwest of the USA and so we are sun challenged here. And I'm not necessarily supplementing for bone health - for me it is more for energy and to combat depression. Since I learned...
  22. Yep itchy bumps on my scalp that went away after going gluten free. Still have some itching under my chin, temples and other places. Sometimes it breaks out after I eat. Much less now that I'm gluten free - but it is only since May so it will take a while.
  23. For me the price of poker is intestinal pain followed by explosive, uncontrolled diarrhea. Definitely not worth it.
  24. I had eczema behind my ears - dry, itchy big time - until I went gluten free. It is much better now. The gut takes a long time to heal. My understanding is DQ8 is a leading indicator for celiac.
  25. I have have puffiness as well - especially in my ankles - and sometimes in my hands and face too. When I went gluten free in May, I dropped 10 lbs of water weight. Since then my ankles are still puffy but nearly as bad. But what is interesting - about the time I started having really bad digestive problems, I started having more puffiness in my eyes. They...
