  1. When I was first diagnosed with celiac I would loose my voice and an ENT determined that acid reflux was burning my vocal cords. The GI did an endoscopy and saw a hernia on my esophagus and that the spinctor was stuck open. Had surgery (first time in my life) and it helped but I still don’t tolerate citrus well. Nothing major just better off without it. ...
  2. Also, gluten is in almost everything! Meds. Cosmetics. Lotions. Face Wipes. Crazy!
  3. Diagnosed 3 years ago by GI. At age 73. Never been sick in my life. You’re right it is totally overwhelming. Especially when you have a spouse that can’t understand it. I have DH reaction. But the gut pain is unreal. Dermatology tests showed allergy to wheat - negative! Sure! Allergists and dermatologists are not always the best source for diagnosing Cel...
  4. So that’s why the lactase supplement helps with consuming lactose with no pain. Now I get it. Thanks.
  5. When I was diagnosed celiac I was told BY MY DENTIST not to be surprised if I am also lactose intolerant. And so it is. Lactose causes great stomach pain for me. Plus citrus causes gut pain. So I avoid not only gluten but all dairy because as time went by I realized my lactose free milk was also giving me pain. 😕 So I use Oatly milk when I need dairy. Yo...
  6. I agree with TRENTS. you may think that a small occasional oops is easy to tolerate but I found out the hard way not so. It has to be totally gluten free if you are Celiac. I’m DH and a small break out here and there although not intentional was ok it just causes more bigger problems soon. Diagnosed three years ago and still learning how many things contain g...
  7. FYI most dermatologists don’t recognize gluten. Nor do allergists. My GI was my salvation. Diagnosed after endoscopy and biopsy. The right nutritionist might help but I couldn’t find one
  8. I am celiac for 2.5 years. My reaction to being glutened is DH. Took almost 2 years to relate the two as I was first dealing with pain and bloating of the stomach and didn’t link my rash. Dr said take benedryl which helped but then it got worse because although benedryl ingredients are gluten free their facility is not. Cross contamination. I’m also lactose int...
  9. Your pictures look exactly like my rashes. I am definitely celiac and my main reaction is rash. Since I have been gluten free three years now sometimes the out break is very mild is amount but not in intensity. I may have only 3/4 lesions but they kill. I had an allergy skin test done which included wheat and it came back negative and I just laughed. The...
  10. I’m almost speechless. Celiac three years now. This is the first time I have read dermatitis as a result from gluten. That is my main reaction. But it’s equivalent to shingles. Very painful. Even one spot is painful. Before being diagnosed celiac the remedy was Benadryl. My breakout was from the top of my back to my knees. While Benadryl helped it did not...
  11. Another reason for not being able to gain weight or keep your weight is high blood sugar. Often overlooked. People always associate diabetics with overweight. I am celiac. Diagnosed at 73 years young. I am not diabetic but many in my family are and they are all bean poles. Get checked.
  12. I am Celiac. I was just given a small tube of clobetasol by my Dermatologist for clearing up a biopsy scar. I checked on line and even though the ingredients are gluten free, it is not certified gluten free. That tells me cross contamination. Maybe I’m too picky but I won’t use it.
