About Me

Late to this disease. I am 71 and recently diagnosed. I am as you all are trying to navigate the what can I, what can't I eat?  How do I know when I eat out that my food is not contaminated?  Planning a trip to Scotland in a month and do not want to cancel.  Any suggestions, greatly appreciated.  I am aware that Europe has stricter laws that regulate the identifying and packaging of gluten free products, s I that is reassuring.

  1. Thank you. I have been searching on the internet. Appreciate the card info. Took a card to Italy a few weeks ago and got along very well.
  2. I am planning on traveling this late fall to the above countries. Has anyone been there and is it possible to eat out gluten free? I had a great trip to Scotland-very aware of Gluten in foods and dedicated kitchens. Traveled recently to Italy. Some options, but most places relied on pre-packed bread and crackers. Any advice is greatly appreciated...
  3. Thank you, knitty kitty. I have been taking zinc supplements for about 4 months per recommendation from the nutritionist.

  6. I LOVE coffee. It now tastes like cigarette ashes (though I haven’t ingested any). This change in taste began while I was going from a gluten diet to a gluten free diet. Eventually coffe began to taste like coffee again. THEN I began the Gluten Challenge. For 2 weeks I had to convince myself to eat all those foods I thought I missed. It was awful, ...
  7. I have an endoscopy scheduled for 12/22/22. Will the use of Imodium during that prep time effect the result of the biopsy? The PA I saw indicates that 1 or 2 tabs a day would be ok (he sounded very unsure of himself). He also told me I had to resume a normal gluten diet for the 2 weeks prior to the test and if not the results could be inconclusive...
  8. I am scheduled for an endoscopy on 12/22/22. So far in my research I have been unable to find information regarding how long does the physical recovery take? I am planning flying to Texas on 12/24 and would like to have some idea of what to expect. I think I have been following a gluten-free regime and then, WHAM, I get uncontrollable diarrhea that...
