  1. Pot roast with butternut squash, baby greens with homemade ranch dressing, and cold fried apples. Yes, I make pot roast about once a week. I have a condition.
  2. White potatoes & broccoli over chicken parm-yum!
  3. Dinner tonight is stew- bulk chicken sausage, white potatoes, mushed sweet potato and butternut squash, onions, leeks, broccoli. Liberally seasoned with curry & oregano& basil & cayenne pepper. Will be ready in about ten minutes- we'll see how it turned out! (wanted to add peas but am apparently out.... grr....)

  6. Raw egg is a risk, but it's a calculated risk. Cage free eggs are much safer, as well.
  7. I made a pot roast. It is the BEST one I've ever done! I actually put green pepper in it by accident (long story) and I think that makes the meat more tender or something. Or it's just the best piece of meat I ever got. Yum!

  10. I'm pretty sure this has happened to me, but I wake so slowly that it's never frightened me, as I don't wake and immediately try to move. I have never had it happen on a day where an alarm is waking me, so not sure really. I'm pretty sure it's related to the hormones that regulate sleep. The body releases mild paralytic hormones that are designed to keep...
  11. I'll have to try that 'carrot fry' thing. I think it would be better with sweet potatos, but I'm prejudiced.
  12. I don't know your status with spices, but fresh pepper and parsley are very good additions to that dish. Parsley can be dried too.

  16. I think I'm gonna beat you guys to the cream maple syrup squash. I have a buttercup squash, butternut, and acorn here. I'm gonna cook it all up, smash it all together, and do the cream and maple syrup thing. I think squashes are best when you mix at least three together. Can include sweet potato and turnip too. So I just looked up a recipe for that...
  17. Browned onions, ground beef, quinoa, broccoli, all in one pan- pan fry in that order, adding water with the quinoa.

  19. Just spent a week in florida with 90 degree days with matching humidity. This New England 50 degree weather is seeing pretty awesome to me right now!... Be happy to go back down south in a few months though, I'm sure...
  20. Sometimes chicken just doesn't change color when it cooks, drives me bonkers too. When I overdo my chicken, I make barbecue sauce and shred the chicken. Turns into a pulled-chicken thing, like pulled pork. Good for sammiches!

Also, am I alone in noticing that this thread alone has more than one legitimate reference to wheat flour being used to paste barrels shut, and that it is a common practice according to a number of winemakers? Boutique winemakers, yes, but come on. Tell me another instance where we would unquestioningly accept the use of wheat flour paste to seal the container...
  22. I will repeat myself. We need to be able to come here and report something made us sick, safely, without being blown off. I have lost count of the number of people who have reported a gluten reaction to wine, and they deserve better than to have the 'experts' on this board tell them they are imagining it. Everyone reading can see both sides of the issue...
  23. LAst night- homefries w onions and ground beef mixed up with sour cream and diced avocado all spiced up. Tonight, chicken and green beans! And potato chips...
