Now worries, all fruits and vegetables are naturally gluten free You only have to worry about fruit PRODUCTS and vegetable PRODUCTS which means the food having been processed and made into something else with added ingredients or in facilities that process foods with gluten. Then you have to look at labels and such. If you buy any fruit or vegetable...

Ah, gotcha! 😀 I am also a vegetarian. I think it is maybe a little easier for meat eaters (who could technically fill up on one more food group if they wanted to) but I can't really say that for sure. Everybody struggles. Good for you for trying so hard and taking control of your health. 👍🏽 I haven't been gluten free for very long (only about 7 ...

oh no 😭 I sure hope not. How long did it take you to realise? All three of my kids have autoimmune stuff: kid one has lactose stuff and had some histamine thing going on (I had 6 months of chronic Urticaria and she had one episode) , kid two is allergic to everything in the air and environment, and kid three has issues with her thyroid (s...

oooh! Buckwheat sounds interesting! So it's tasty?? I'll have to try. I really need my oats everyday (seeing as the gluten-free Müsli is not very nice, I tend to mix up my own and oats are a big part of that) I eat the certified oats and sadly I can't drink my morning "Oatly" brand oat drink in my coffee anymore (not certified) So far, I think its been ...

Today I was super cautious: no dog food, no using communal pots and pans (I had a set of brand new camping pans I haven't used yet. I used those!), new special designated sponge and hand towel, special placement for the table. Results: I basically had very little symptoms today. My "bathroom time" is still obviously not alright yet (that will take about...

Oh, there was a misunderstanding: I don't think I react to lactose (at least it would seem so at the moment) But as we are talking about it: my daughter doesn't tolerate lactose. She doesn't look at labels and such, but she does just basically do a diet similar to you (hard and aged cheeses, nut and soy milks etc. ) The people in the forum are so knowledgeable...

Wow, sounds like everything is sorted really well in your household. I do have my own condiments (butter, jam, honey, etc) and I think this has helped a bit. I have a looong way to go to where you are, though. (organisation wise) Bummer about the lactose intolerance. Are you sensitive to even small amounts of lactose (like in processed foods) or do...

"Also, does your husband realize the very real long term effects of gluten exposure? Maybe he needs to read more about it to learn and understand." Darren, it would seem, that the conversations I had with him at the beginnings of giving up gluten had been forgotten. 😔 He is just now waking up to the realisation of what this all means. I have shown hi...

Sadly, my family is not willing to give up gluten. 😔 They try to support me in other ways, but that isn't one of them. I think for the last week I have just been throwing myself a pity party. I have previously been diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder (about 25 years ago) and I can kind of remember going through a mourning phase at some point. I...

Hi darren, thank you for your tips. I think I am going to have to bite the bullet: I haven't been using separate frying pans (teflon) and have even been using the same wooden spoons and cutting boards (I know! I know! I just thought if they are scrubbed it should be okay. ) I also never even thought about the the scrubbers and sponges until someone mentioned...

I stopped eating gluten late last June and enjoyed the most wonderful, symptom free summer and my body felt so so good. Six months later, I started feeling like I was messing up somewhere and had some accidental glutening. I got stricter about labels (I moved to only eat processed food certified gluten free instead of things that were usually gluten free...

Trents, I would love to have a link to that article!!! I am struggling with my family. They are supportive in the sense that they understand what's going on, but they are not on board with making any inconvenient changes (food-wise) sadly. I get it: gluten-free food usually isn't as yummy as food containing gluten! It's also expensive. I think, if I...

Thank you so much for your answer, especially the stuff about cross contamination. I am super frustrated, because at first when I accidentally gave up gluten I noticed I was getting more and more sensitive to gluten, the longer I went gluten free. This happened quite quickly. (I read somewhere that when your gut starts to recover your autoimmune reaction...

Oh my gosh! That all makes sense. I am super impressed that you pushed through on the challenge. But it sounds like it was worth it for you. I guess I am going to have to make the same kind of decision. May I ask how long you ate gluten for in advance of the EGD? How long did it take you, personally, to recover after going back to gluten free?

thanks for your answer! You are right, I didn't ask a question, and it's a little embarrassing to be honest. I think I was throwing myself a pity party. The pros and the cons are a good list (although I am not really tempted to cheat because the results of eating gluten are not very tempting, lol) But knowing for sure would be nice. I think...

Thanks Trent! You are right, I didn't really ask a question 😂 I thought about it for a moment, and I think my post is a mixture of self pity (because I want to get tests done but I don't want to eat gluten - which is not helpful) and hope (that maybe someone will tell me there is a great solution to this quandary -there probably isn't) I ca...

I wanted to add: I think I could live without a true diagnosis one way or the other and be perfectly happy to just not eat gluten end of story. But sadly after 6 months of being gluten free (which were really great months, no more toilet issues, no more being completely exhausted from meals, sometimes even during a meal, no more gas and pain and huge tummy...

I have a question (well several) and I am so grateful for anyone who can help. Firstly, I only began to cut out gluten by accident. To make a long story short, I noticed now if I have any kind of gluten at all I am sick right away. (like within 15-20 minutes) I know you have to eat gluten to get tested, but I just can't bring myself to do it. The...
