  1. Thank you. I've read that Pityriasis rosea can be triggered by autoimmune disease. We've ruled out Covid (another trigger of PR). I can't pinpoint how I could have gotten a virus (or bacterial infection) to trigger it. I wondered if others had a similar experience. Thanks again for the reply. I'm lucky it's not itchy!
  2. I accidentally ate wheat and a week later developed my usual dermatitis herpetiformis flare up in the usual spot. However this time with a twist - a few days after that I developed a rash called Pityriasis rosea. I am curious as to any potential linkages
  3. Hi, this is interesting. I have thyroid cancer. Developed suspected but undiagnosed dermatitis herpetiformis in my 40s. I do not know the answer to your question unfortunately but tracking this!
  4. I should clarify -- I've had a skin biopsy by my dermatologist. It came back negative. I was not eating gluten at the time of the test. I've also had my GI do some type of test (not sure what) -- it did not come back positive but it also did not rule it out per the dr. Regardless of the tests, I know gluten is the cause based on timing of onset of symptoms...
  5. For me it's my back, stomach, legs, and scalp. It took about a year after I completely scrubbed my diet of anything that could be gluten or even contaminated with gluten (like a shared toaster or eating fried food cooked in a contaminated fryer) before it finally went away. I recently glutened myself by mistake and it's back but not nearly as bad. Same...
  6. Thanks so much for this. Agree that the anti-inflammatory diet has worked best for me.
  7. I learned about the oats from this website! I was in the midst of a DH flare up. My entire body was itching so intensely and by some miracle I read a post on this forum that said to avoid oats even "gluten-free" oats. The DH didn't go away after I gave up oats but the flare up got about 75 percent better. Months later the DH is finally gone.
  8. I have undiagnosed DH on stomach/back and at its worst legs, elbows and scalp. I had already eliminated gluten so didn't test positive for celiac disease. However, I can tell you that after a year of wheat free (8 months truly gluten free) the DH miraculously disappeared. Avoid oats like the plague. Hoping it gets better for you soon.
  9. Can anyone share a source that you must be eating gluten for the skin punch biopsy to be useful? My derm disagreed with me. Did the biopsy and of course it came back negative bc I have been gluten free since Dec. Can anyone direct me to a source? Thanks.
