Eyeball cupcakes. Get a gluten-free cupcake (or cake) mix or find a recipe. Cover with white frosting, put a gummy Lifesaver in the middle and then put a dark jellybean in the middle of the Lifesaver. Use red frosting in a squeeze tube to make lines that make the eyeball look bloodshot. These were a hit even with college students.

great idea, i love it!

Oh no! Don't feel stupid. I should have put the flour mix at the top or made a note that it was listed at the bottom.
I'm so sorry I didn't put the flour mix more visible.
Oh my ... it wasn't your fault, I just got so excited about the receipe and started before I read the whole thing. thinking I have sorghum flour I just jumped right in. I put it in the oven anyway to see what happens, it rose about 2" from the top of the pan..but as it is baking it is not looking good. Want to hide it before anyone comes home from work/school. I don't want them to be excited....then disappointed.
-
I did it! I did it! I made a sandwich that actually tastes like a sandwich!!
Okay, I was soooo excited when I saw this receipe that I went right to the kitchen and started to mix this up... Then I see this at the bottom -
Sorghum Flour Mix
3 - cups Sorghum Flour
2 - cups Potato Starch
2.5 - cups Tapioca Flour
oh my gosh, I probably will have a rock. I only used sorghum flour ... I tried to fix it by adding 1/2 c Potato starch, and 1/2 c Tapioca Flour, one more egg, and a splash of water....
It is slowly rising, but it has been 45 min.... I feel so stupid.
I guess we still won't be eating a good bread yet.
-
We have been without bread for a while now, I am not missing it, but my DD is. We make the pizzas out of chebe mix - it is very good. I make an extra pizza Sunday night, then I send it in her lunch for a couple of days, she loves it!
I also send things like chicken legs....on days like that she doesn't miss bread at all! And her classmates are usually envious of most of her lunches!!
Other things for school lunches, (or at home)...
We bought a small short stainless thermos, it holds about 1 1/2 cups and I pack soups, rice noodles w/ sauce - loves that!
lettuce wraps (I always have a cold pack in her lunch so things stay cold)
fruit (everyday)
veggies (everyday)
yogurt
occasionally -
chocolate covered sunflower seeds from trader joes
nuts
salt and pepper chips from whole foods
pirates booty
Pamelas already made cookies is a great treat she loves the peanut butter, and choc chip ones
We have also used glutino brand french rolls, and used them for hamburger buns for home - I toast them, and make double cheeseburgers for them....ahhh they love them.
Her birthday is the end of the month, and I will make her the Gluten Free Pantry angel food cake.... I also get the already made donuts by kinnink...(spelled wrong) donuts were her favorite treat on Sun morning....we don't have them often because they are soooo expensive. But every now and then it doesn't hurt.
She looks forward to eating - and she even now looks for the healthier things to eat - and she is so much more healthier now without gluten.

Interesting....I googled the acne-helping aspect of it and people seem to really like the stuff. I'm kind of curious to try it now. Keep us posted on how it goes.
I will!

LOL
Is this some sort of herbal drink? What does it do? I am also curious...
It is actually a new probiotic that I had been researching, and I finally ordered it today. I couldn't believe this is on the packaging """"Recommended for infants, children, pregnant or nursing mothers, the elderly and those with compromised immune system"""" The product is called - Dr. Ohira's, Essential Formulas Inc., Dr. Ohhira's 12 Plus Probiotic Formula
It is supposed to be so good for you that mostly nutritionists and Drs carry it, and take it. It is also one that the alternative dr's suggest.
I am anxious to try it, it should be here by Sat or Mon. I can post after I take it for a bit if you like. I know that you take a lot of it in the first 5 days -
Most of the reviews I have read are all fantastic. Especially for IBS, and helps with acne too.

I know that I was having problems in Feb and March .... I started taking probiotics and it has helped me so much. I am now looking into a better probiotic as I think I still have yeast in my GI tract that is effecting me and slowing down my recovery process. There are special probiotics for women care. Renew life has one of them.
Beer definitely has gluten in it, could be a problem if you ingest some of it...even through kissing. My hubby and I kiss a lot less, he likes to have a daily beer after work ... he is afraid that he glutens me. ( we hug a LOT more now though!!)

In answering my own question - acompany confirmed - all gluten free ingredients - soy and dairy free also. Yeah!
-
Can anyone tell if these ingredients are gluten free? I am having major trouble with this!
Here is the list
Lycium Chinese, Vitis coignetiae, Myrica rubra, Maninaria japonica, Morus australis, Rubus buergeri, Elaeagnus montana, Hizikia fusiforme, Artemisia montana, Plantago asiatica, Mountain Spring Water. The product is 100% natural and totally vegetarian.
I know just because it says natural and vegetarian does not make it gluten free.
Thanks in advance

I ordered some bare minerals make-up last week and since they said their foundation was gluten free I mentioned it was too bad they did not sell lipstick. The woman at BMinerals(Bare Essentials) said they have a new line of lipsticks at Saphora.com. She said they did not add gluten ingreidients . Going only with a reps. word and for the first time in three years I did not check the ingriedient list on line. The lipstick came yesterday and a minute after I put it on my lips felt sunburned. Called bare essentials and the rep. read the ingreidient list she mentioned gardenia flower extract so as I am allergic to flowers I assumed that was it. Again I was told no gluten ingriedients. Went to the Saphora website and clicked on the lipstick ingr. list-BARLEY SEED OIL./BARLEY LIPIDS. one was on the active list the other was on the complete list. I clicked Called them back and I was told a memo would go out to all in the company. My lips burn, tummy hurts -this is so stupid. At least I tried it before the wedding I am going to at the end of the month.
I was having the same trouble with their lipgloss - it really hurt my lips terribly!! So sorry that you had problems, but it now makes sense to me why I had so much trouble. I switched over to another company, they have pure and safe botanicals and all their lipsticks are gluten free and tested to be so!! I love, love the new makeup I am using!

Anyone ever stayed at Pop Century??
Thanks!
My little girl and I had a mother daughter bonding 4 days away and stayed there in 2005 - but that was before we were dx with celiac. I will tell you it was a fantastic place, we loved it!! She has asked to go back, someday perhaps we will get a chance to.
If you do stay at pop century, please post when you come back, or send me a pm, would love to hear of your experience with gluten free food in their food court!
Thanks

My daughter is taking Super 8, by Flora it has 30 billion CFU - she had a round of antibiotics a few weeks ago.
I am now taking ultimate critical care, by renew life it has 50 billion cfu - we both have celiac ...
My other daughter takes renew life adult fomula, it has 15 billion CFU's - she is taking them to boost her immunity while she is at college. ... very tiny all her life, and fights to maintain a 100 pound weight today, still so tiny..
Everyone of those mentioned are gluten free, and purchased from a health food store. Some of free of milk, soy, corn, etc.... I was taking flora-jen 3, (gluten free too) purchased at a pharmacy, I really liked them, but I had to take several at different times a day to get the current dose I am now at....now I am taking one in the evening, it works better for me than in the morning. After the next month with this dose, I will be switching to a bit lower dose, perhaps a 30 billion cfu. I probably will be on them for a long time. I give them a lot of credit. I wish I would have known about them before now - I might now be as bad as I am today
plus...
My kids were all cesarean births, the bad news for them is that since they don't pass through the birth canal they miss out on the good bacteria they would pick up.... wish I would have known this a long time ago, it would have saved some agony giving them the infant dose way back when. My youngest may not have so many illnesses, or problems had I known.
You will see you may have to play around, experiment, with them until you find the right one for you, or the right dose for you..
I posted this before - perhaps it will help you Open Original Shared Link

Were you eating wheat/gluten continuously at the time of the blood tests?
-
I know this is an old link, but I guess we are still going back to it....
My question to this is - Is there MSG in hillshire farms? I am remembering that, if it does, sometimes celiacs/and others have difficulty with that as much as they do gluten. I know that I have a major problem with it.
-
So, what are your thoughts, experience, opinions with Cheetos?
Cheetos are on the gluten-free safe list, but I think they have msg in them so we try to avoid them at all cost. I know the freetos scoops are gluten-free, and they are made in a gluten-free factory ... so I am told. (the regular freetos are not make in a gluten-free environment.) The scoops have a bit different taste than the reg freetos, not as greasy perhaps; but I can't eat those too well either, but I sure liked them.
Sorry about the accidental glutening...I hope your little one feels better soon. But, congrats on the longest stretch gluten-free yet, hope it is even longer next time!!!

Hello,
Don't know if this is too late for you, but I have a listing of the gluten status of many common in-office and over-the-counter dental products on my website. Please feel free to print it out and bring to the dentist or refer them to the website. I can't post it here, but it is on my profile page.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Julie
Hello, and thanks! It is never to late, the info will surely be able to help! I am sure I will be going back to the dentist office again.
Thanks again!

Has Anyboby eaten there? WHAT FOODS ARE SAFE? CAN i HAVE A LIST. I'm going on Monday and need a list!
Before I was dx, I was eating there quite a bit..everytime I felt so terrible afterwards but did not know why.
Since then, I have emailed, and asked about gluten-free...never got a response. I went in and personally asked, and I was told, most every salad dressing contains wheat so be very careful. The employees use gloves to make your food...but they are also handling bread also.
I have not eaten there since ... to afraid.

I'm sort of sad to say something negative about PF's because I think their food is amazing--but I had a going-away party at PF Chang's Boston ( I moved for the summer ) and I got glutened after ordering off the gluten free menu. I asked for the Pf Chang's gluten free version of the crispy chicken (sort of looked like General Tsu's--can't remember what they called it). It was very good, but I could sort of tell half way through the meal that it wasn't gluten free...the texture was..wheat-y (Ive been gluten free almost since birth so I'm pretty familiar with what gluten free stuff is like). Or if there wasnt wheat in the actual stuff there must have been cross contamination. And I was sick for 3 days afterwards. Couldn't have been the soy sauce either, because they brought out special gluten-free stuff for me. It was a bummer because I was so excited they had a gluten free menu.
The chicken you are referring to is all gluten free, even on the reglar menu...it might have been cc.
WE went here for lunch today - first time - was fantastic! My little girl was so happy to be eating out, first time in a very long time!! We all ordered gluten-free so we could share, what fun!!!! We had the luttuce wraps, Singapore Street Noodles, the spicy chicken, like general tso's, moo goo gi pan, and the wonderful chocolate desert!! Hoping to go back sometime next month, it is about 2 hours from my house. (I have my fingers crossed that I feel as good tomorrow as I do today!)
quick question about the lettuce wraps: is the gluten free version supposed to have the rice stick noodles in it? cos last week i got them and they were in it, then this week i got them and they weren't.astyanax: Yes, the lettuce wraps are suppose to have the rice noodles in them, not alot but there are in there.
You can go to the website and view the specialty menu..it will tell you what ingredients are in the item.
Fiddle-Faddle: Oh, and Thanks for the recipe!! I will be trying this sometime soon!

Does anyone have this problem? I don't know if my body is getting rid of toxins or what.
Seems like I am up every hour or so until about 3AM. Then I sleep right up to 5!
Shari
Vermont
I had been complaining about this for about 8 months....my doctor told me the other day, it was because I am not sleeping, ---- so my system just keeps going???
Anyway, I am drinking fresh pressed, organic cranberry juice...it is very expensive, about $8.50 a bottle. (It is a bit sour since there is no added sugars, and all natural!!) I drink about 1/2 cup full every evening, and I have noticed a big, big change - I can go all night without getting up to go...it is amazing!! It took about 4 days before I noticed, and it keeps getting better. Last night I made it 7 hours - that was the longest ever!!!
My father takes the whole cranberry herb, and that helps him as well to get through the night without getting up.

Several years ago, my hair fell out. Not completely, but it got really, really thin. I never knew what caused it, or what caused it to stop. But lately I realized this happened at the same time I was having so much trouble with my stomach, before I figured out I'd developed gluten intolerance. And since I stopped eating wheat, my hair hasn't fallen out again. Could there be a connection?
Libby
My hair fell out by the hand-fulls - thankfully it has stopped over the last few months, since I stopped eating gluten.
-
- I had a big learning curve with one of those doctors who called on the phone and said "you have celiac disease, go look it up on the internet and don't eat gluten)
I had two drs tell me the same thing, one in office, one on the phone. It is a shocked because you have no idea where to go.

Check with the distributer - ask them to order you a fresh case - It would only take a few days to come in, and then you will be able to keep it on hand, and know it is good. The draw back to this is having to pay out for a full case, and to keep it refrigerated. My hubby likes to cook different things with beer for the flavor, so now he has to use redbridge. (His grilled potatoes, onions and peppers steamed in beer are fantastic...)
I was told by the distributer that it was good for 4 months (120 days) from the date it has on the bottles.

I am so sorry that you are feeling this way, and you are still feeling ill.
I too felt the way that you are explaining - feeling like you are dying, from experience, please take one day at a time. Also, it helps to know that people around you care about you, and also family needs you.
You have received some very good news with the cat scans, try to think about that. See if you can do a bit of relaxing, it will help with alot of things, even try and take short naps, your system sounds like you are in overload. See if someone will take a leisurely walk and talk. Please try and think about something else, it will help your mind to rest.
I will say some prayers for you, and please keep us posted. You can always pm me if you want to talk, believe me, I have been where you are with your feelings.

Just wondering after reading another post here, because I have been gluten for over a year now and I still get floating stools once in a while?
I was recently told this by a doctor -
After you are gluten free for a while - stools are good to be floating, it means that - everything is being digested properly, and your intestines are doing their job. ( I am not referring to D - ) If the stools are heavy/sinkers, that means it took a while for everything to go through your system, pushing things up against the colon walls for longer periods of time and waste that lays around in your colon is not good for you.
Also, I know if you take a probiotic it helps with bacteria speeding up the waste process, depending how good the probiotic is working for you.

Yep. bread is too dry and dense, but...
On the bright side...I will have bread crumbs for meatloaf, or meatballs!![](//www.celiac.com/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png)
