It could also mean that the salmon may not have been fresh.

Oh my that sounds delicious - I want some!
I am growing eggplant in my garden this year...one is just about ready, guess what I am going to do with it.... Thanks for the great suggestion and idea for an eating out adventure.
-
I got these....more so when I was eating gluten. ..
Just wanted to make this clear....so I didn't confuse anyone.
I didn't get these from eating the gluten...I just noticed I got so many more when I was eating gluten. Some have faded/shrunk a bit, but I have a bunch of them. I even have several on the palms of my hands, and a couple on a finger.

i really beg you guys to get a book on celiac before you keep posting this stuff. it's really not correct. now you'll probably jump on me like you did those other two posters. you sure don't like people to be on any other side but the lets all act like celiac does things it doesn't and act like celiac is the worst thing in the world. it's not folks. i'll leave this alone now, but really, read a book on celiac, if you find proof of what you're saying, i'm more than open to it, i'm just saying, i've never ever seen it. thanks.
I am going to sit back and try not to take offense...reading that when I was a poster on this category, made me feel it could be directed to me... but really "get a book?" wow, it's a chat board. Perhaps maybe start a new post about a specific book someone wants to discuss.
I have read celiac for dummies, and I am presently reading celiac disease - a hidden epidemic, foods that fight pain, and alternative medicine.
I also went to college, had a job until I fell ill....(my own business)
When I went for my biopsy on my tumor that was removed...the dr put a bandaid on the mark where the needle was
inserted... MY skin literally melted, I still have the scar from it. It was the gluten in the sticky stuff on the bandaid that melted my skin. Since my surgery from removing the tumor....the surgeon stitched me up and the bandaid scar is now in two places, one on the left side of the scar and the other on the right....and to mention they don't match up, one side is higher than the other.
I will post a piece of an article, and then post the entire piece as sometime taken out of text doesn't make sence.
The article is mainly about pore sizes, and reducing them, plus more....it is rather a long article....
What I googled was skin absorbency with gluten cosmetics
"""""Skin pores (and sebaceous glands) are large and numerous on the face and scalp, coincidentally the areas of maximum exposure on the skin. For facial areas the density ranges from 400 to 800 pores/cm2, compared with 50 pores/cm2 on the arms and legs. The forehead, nose and nasolabial folds are the areas of highest pore concentration.
Skin pores also represent entry portals for externally applied substances, including lotions, creams and cosmetic preparations. It is generally understood that human skin represents a changing, dynamic environment where the exit and entry of substances can significantly influence pore size and visibility."""""

I have celiac disease, I have celiac sensitivity, and I have allergic reaction to gluten - even with my breathing, it brings on asmtha as well.

I got these....more so when I was eating gluten. I went to a dermatologist, he diagnosed them as Cherry Angioma. I was told they are hereditary....my mom has them, my two oldest children have a couple.

I have read differing opinions on this subject both here and in various books and online research I have done. Having to ingest gluten for a GI response makes sense to me. But non GI symptoms from possible absorption into the bloodstream also makes sense. It might not cause the villi damage, but is it not possible that is could cause other unpleasent "glutening" symptoms?

Thanks for that url post. This is what my GI doctor told me, he states that your skin is your biggest organ, what goes on it, gets absorbed. It can eventually effect you somehow. ( I am celiac, with gluten sensitivty, asmtha, plus...) This why I stay away from gluten ingredients inside and out. I am trying to use mostly safe and pure botanicals on my sikn. I can honestly say, since I do not use gluten on my skin or body anymore, my skin is doing much, much better, it actually looks very good. I even had a fantastic comment about my skin and coloring today. Something is working for me. Even my oncologist said how good I am looking. People who see me now that saw me months ago...they do a complete double take.
I had my youngest at the doctor's yesterday and today..(physicals, and shots) .he told me that their is still so much to learn, medical findings do change over time and what works for some may not work for others. We are all individuals and unique and what makes one tick, does not necessarily make the other tick.
By the way....the dr today also saw something in my little girls bloodwork that makes him suspicious of her being celiac like me. He wants me to take her to a pediatric gi ( for celiac) dr ...any one have any suggestions? I know I will not be making her eat wheat for it... she has grown 2 inches and gained 8 pounds since we went gluten-free in our house. Infact she is the first one of my three children to EVER be in the top of her weight and height chart!! Yipee

Can anyone recommend a tested gluten free ice cream?
Thank you for your time, this is my first post
Did you ever hear of a brand called Turkey Hill? If you call their 800 number they will also send you a ton of coupons for their ice creams. They will also tell you the obvious ones that have gluten...the ones that have cake or brownies etc...added into them.
So very fond of plain vanilla and add smuckers hot fudge...both gluten free.

I feel your pain, I bloat like I am 9 months pregnant. I react to the smallest amount of gluten, it is horrible. My doctor told me that I can not ingest more that a fraction of a crumb, that is how bad it is for me.
What kind of hambuger was it = 90% , 85% , 70% - The less fat is better for us. I am told to make sure that it is not in the meat case with any meat that might have breading on it. Also, it has been suggested to make sure we get the "better burger" to make sure nothing was added as fillers.

Ok, where can I get the Ar*bonne gluten-free vitamins. she is a teen just small for her size. dr had said one a day but they are gluten..
You have some side things on the bottom that I have, but my blood work was negative the drs said. may do more testing.. we also do not know where in the family or which side it came from... We do not talk to her fathers side of the family at all.. One friend of mine said that it is prevalant in Irish blood lines, if that is the case it came from her fathers side. There are alot of med problems in his side of the family inc: MS, autism, learning problems, asmatha, A.D.H.D. AND A.D.D.
GL. and tyvm
what is Hashimoto's? gl
lynn
It is a thyroid problem, sometimes associated with celiac...however she has not tested postive for celiac, she does better without the gluten.
I can send you an instant message about the vitamins
Both of my parents say it is not them with the gene for celiac...neither will get tested. Dad is diabetic, and mom has auto immune on her side - lupos, lymphoma, etc.... but can't express to them enough to get tested.

Did the chicken or the egg come first?

If I have a cut, scrape, or bug bite and my skin is open, no matter how small, I DO!
I also can't be exposed to Gluten flours, it gets my asmtha started.
Everyone is completely different, sorry to disagree with you.

General Mills has recently come out with several cereals that are considered gluten-free, which is exciting...but I miss my Raisin Nut Bran and my Honey Bunches of Oats...or Honey Nut Cheerios...haven't been able to find a good subsitute yet...Cero's didn't work out for me, neither did Perky o's. just didn't have the right taste!!
I found a cereal that taste similar to honey nut cherrios. they are really good - By Glutino - Honey Nut - You may like those!
-
Gluten wasn't listed on the ingredients, but we called, and they asked the date and the code with the upc - were told yes, they were gluten free.

My daughter has just graduated from kids vitamins and now i need a regular multi vitamin. Her peds. said to use 1 a day, but i heard that it IS NOT gluten-free.
Can somebody please help me?
I would greatly appreciate it.
thank you so much
lynn
My daughter takes Ar*bonne gluten free vitamin chews for teens, but they also have a special gluten free one for small children - called
ASN HYBRIDS - Daily Powder Punch for Kids A great-tasting power punch drink mix for kids.

I have cut out most breads and stuff right now, but I am really craving a corn-dog of all things. Can anyone help with a receipe? Thanks so much!
-
I didn't know that TRIX cereal was gluten free. My daughter is pretty happy today. It is whole grain - CORN. So that could be a fun treat for kids - or adults.
But you guys probably knew this, but I just found out today.

well, my gluten free living magazine says as of now they don't see how things absorbed from your skin can get into your digestive tract, and has stopped advertising gluten-free shampoo to stop the confusion, but again, personal choice but this woman should hear both sides of the story. and, you put it in a better way than i did. Lol I hear kristen chenowith say that word on ellen but i wasn't exactly sure what the propper forum word for that was =-D
That is a joke!
If I have a cut, and I would use a gluten soap, or lotion...I get a severe allergic reation to my skin...it gets a large reddened swell area, hurts badly, can't scab and does not heal, continues to get larger and larger. It takes a long time to heal. Will not use anything that is not Gluten Free in or on me! The cut could be as minor as a paper cut, a small scrape, or even a bug bite.
I have other symptoms as well too, not all in the GI tract.
Celiac can destroy whatever organ that it wants to....mine was destroying brain tissue.
So again, no gluten in or on me on purpose.

A new doctor see,s something sinister he thinks and has sent me for a series of tests one of which has the heading Lyphoma/?? on the test sheet. some research has led me to see that a form of coeliac disease (refractory) does not respond to a gluten free diet and can be dangerous.
i had always known that I was very sensative to gluten and as the years have passed have seen many things removed from my diet( cornflakes, lager, mars bars etc) but now I can eat very little. i cannot abssorb any fats and any roughage gets immediatly ejected undigested. I could fly kites with the amount of wind I generate and the pains in my muscles are so bad coupled with an enormous fatigue. I just cannot see how I am injesting gluten as I eat so little and haave been on so many self imposed exclusion dets to see if I can slve this problem.
I know ts a bit of a rant but I eel so low and my concentration is so poor. Does this ring any bels, have you been down this rocky road, can anyone offer me some help or hope??....thaks for looking
It does sound as if you are ingesting some sort of gluten with the brain fog, and fatigue...
Lymphomas are different then Lypomas or Lipomas
Lipoma is where your body absorbs the fat instead of ingests it, you get a little fat deposit, and it can grow...You have surgery and then have it removed, They are okay, and basically safe, but they also can come back.
My problem was my lypoma, that I had for about 1 year, turned into lyposarcoma - cancer - it grew to an 8# tumor in 2 months., big as a cafeteria tray - 13x15, I know hard to believe, but I have the scars to back me up...(these can come back too) Not trying to scare you in anyway, just telling you about me.
Again, lypomas are usually safe, and can be taken care of easily! Please make sure you get your check-up!

Hi Radgirl- Just wanted to let you know that I have hormonal issues- my FSH is SKY high (I have enough estrogen to power three more women!). also my PTH is usually just a bit high. I'm sure more people will weigh in on this!
Please pass it over - I'm first in line for some extra power!!!
-
I have had small cuts on my hand, or elsewhere that would become very strange looking - I went to the doctor, and he mentioned that I was allergic to what I was putting on - "the gluten in the lotion was causing an allergic reaction to my skin/tissues, and not letting it heal" - after I stopped using gluten lotions/soaps/shampoos and my cuts, or boo-boo heal so much better!
-
if you have questions about ingredients, you really should read Dr. Greens book, the hidden epidemic (this isn't an add, i just found it very helpful, it was like my bible at first, it cleared up a ton of the celiac myths!) and if i'm not mistaken thats where i learned that anatto was ok!
I didn't think Annatto Coloring had gluten - I found a site that had a ton of things that did not have gluten but are listed as having it ... I just wanted to make sure.
Thanks for the book suggestion. I am reading gluten for dummies right now, it's a good book too!

Sounds really great, Enjoy!!! I can't eat the cheetos anymore, the msg tears me up, almost as bad as gluten.

Lately I have been severely bloated after i eat Baskin Robbins ice cream, or when i eat too much. I get really uncomfortable, followed by these quick little sensations that feel like my heart flips and i get dizzy. It only lasts like 2 seconds and then it will happen again, every 30 minutes or so. It feels like a quick adrenaline rush, then a flip flop of my heart, then dizzy spell, then fine. It only really happens when i feel bloated (ate too much, or the wrong food). Is this my heart or some other cause. It's kind of scary. Any ideas? The bloating is like pressure on sternum and upper abdominal area. It feels like something is pushing on that little cartilidge tip on the bottom of my sternum (xiphoid).
I get those heart palpatations....mine comes from gluten. I was at the hospital once during one of those times and my heat rate was 125 beats per minute - alarms went off. I also get the dizzy stuff too. It is scarey. I try an lay down for a bit when this happens. You should rule out any other possible problems with your dr before you make any conclusions.

HI! I am trying to find some good gluten free microwavable popcorn... any ideas?
I have been getting the Act II Butter. It is pretty good, and I like to get the individual bags -

Which probiotics do you take? The highest probiotic I have seen is 35 billions cfu's.
I am currently taking a probiotic that has about 15 billion cfu - I was taking one in the morning - didn't seem like enough - I have added one in the evening as well. I definately got the rumblings, and gas pains, the good and the evil bacteria fight is now happening...I guess I wasn't taking enough.
What do you think about the enteric coated??
