Nick Cheruka replied to selectivefocus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wow all I can say is this is Super Informative! Thank you! I also have the issue with latex where I seem to be allergic to! I had no idea about the proteins in it or them being similar to the proteins found in certain fruits and vegetable’s! Thank you Knitty Kitty👍 -
Bananas, Lectins, DH, and pregnancy--what???
Nick Cheruka replied to selectivefocus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sorry to hear your lifestyle with Celiacs is very similar to mine in the sense eating has gone from a pleasure to like you somewhat of a chore! I to have the same reactions to many foods other than Gluten! Celiac for over 20yrs gluten free the same! I do not eat dairy of any kind, I have eliminated so many comfort foods I eat now just because I have to not... -
I couldn’t agree more!👍Please try to get the proper diagnosis, per GI doctor or GI group of doctors! You owe it to yourself to know exactly what your dealing with to deal with it correctly without guess work! Good Luck Celiac of over 20yrs Bloodwork and genetic testing pointed to Celiacs, the endoscopy with biopsy was the concrete answer to Celiacs!

How long did it take till your body return to normal??
Nick Cheruka replied to Jane07's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Jane, I don’t think my stomach has ever gotten back to normal but I wish you well! I’ve been on a gluten-free diet for over 20 years and I’m very strict no cheating! I eat all meals at home , home cooked and all gluten free, I’m on a low fodmap diet as well! Some Celiacs are whats referred to as hard gainers meaning it’s hard to gain weight or even main... -
Hi, it was very frustrating to get anyone to seem to believe in me and what I was feeling mentally and physically when the onset of my symptoms began, they started in the early part of 2001 and it progressed very quickly! I believe stress from the loss of my Mother at that time triggered the onset of what eventually would be confirmed Celiacs Disease! It...

Hi Steve, Hopefully this helps! Celiac for 20+yrs! I have lactose intolerance with my celiacs disease so anything containing lactose I avoid! I have a problem with eggs as well and avoid those! I am also on a low fodmap diet for IBS and a low glycemic diet as well as the gluten free diet or aka lifestyle because I have had to eliminate more that just gluten...

Hi Charliexxx, I just had recent bloodwork done to try to determine why I’m feeling fatigued half way through the day usually just after lunch for approx. 3hrs this lasts sometimes. I will fall a sleep while trying to eat lunch without even knowing it numerous times even though I would try to stay awake I was out! My bloodwork showed low vitamin B12 so m...

I think that will help and you can find more answers there! If it helps there are Celiac Doctor Groups that have come together to work together as more than one doctor to help Celiacs get answer's to a better way of life! It helped me tremendously! I was diagnosed at age 35 took 2-1/2yrs with Doctors back in 2003 to finally get a concrete diagnosis of Celiacs...

Also I to have been diagnosed with IBS with the Celiacs and Barretts Esophagus as well all found thru 3-4 different GI doctors! It pays to see another GI especially one who specializes in Celiacs they all do not!

Hi Steve, I got diagnosed per bloodwork and endoscopic biopsy over 20yrs ago! Your biopsy could have been taken where there was no villi damage but it could be damaged further down or not seen clearly to take the biopsy where your GI should have seen villi damage or flattening of your villi somewhere along the line, If the lab anti body tests are positive...

A Dx - Finally!
Nick Cheruka replied to McNish's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Celiac for over 20yrs confirmed with biopsy from endoscopy, blood work and genetic test! The endoscopy would show villous atrophy caused by your autoimmune system attacking the villous lining of your intestines when consuming Gluten! Good Luck☘️Stay Strong💪 -
A Dx - Finally!
Nick Cheruka replied to McNish's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, I’m glad you got some answers! I have to ask why your GI dr did not want to do a endoscopy with biopsy to confirm celiacs? -
Hi sorry it’s tuff for sure! How long have you been off Gluten if you have been? Do you have a Gastroenterologist? If so ask to have a Endoscopy with Biopsy looking for Celiacs, they can also do the genetic blood work to determine if you even have the genetic gene make up for Celiacs! If you are consuming Gluten or accidentally consuming it via cross contamination o...

Yes me! Not sure if this helps because it may be a little confusing! Diagnosed with Celiacs per Endocscopic Biopsy in 2005! Retested again in 2013 after being gluten-free for almost 8yrs and still showed villious atrophy Celiacs but not as much as in 2005 but they also found Barretts Esophagus at the same time in 2013 that wasn’t there in 2005 however I...

Are you sure your not ingesting gluten in some way you may not be aware of? Did you get diagnosed with Celiacs per intestinal biopsy? DH is the skin form of Celiacs so maybe your ingesting hidden gluten! Good Luck! I have the flare ups periodically with DH and Celiacs even on a strict gluten-free diet for over 20yrs! It’s unfortunately hidden in many ingredients, ...

Hi, I wish I could help! The skin rashes could be a number of things that may or may not be related to celiacs! The skin rash of a Celiac is called Dermatitis Herpetiformis or DH for short which is caused by the ingestion of gluten! I would recommend the skin biopsy with a dermatologist to try and determine the cause of the rash, the question on Celiacs testing...

Good Morning, I have been diagnosed by bloodwork and biopsy as Celiac and have been for over 20yrs as you may already know it is hereditary which means you inherited the genes from someone in your family tree, usually one or both parents but it can skip generations and then show up in someone down the family line! An Endoscopy with Biopsy is the only way...
