If you are second guessing the flu shot try eating anti viral foods such as garlic and onions. I personally got the flu shot this year, but I also eat lots of garlic!

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 can of pure pumpkin
1 can of stewed tomatoes
1 can of romano beans
1 can of chickpeas or kidney beans
1-2 cups of tomato soup (Imagine)
3-5 tablespoons of chili powder
1/2 - 1 teaspoon cayeene pepper
1/2 - 1 teaspoon crushed red chilis
1/4 teaspoon crushed cloves

I had a postive tTg blood test and a positive biopsy.

I haven't found a safe worcestershire sauce in Canada.

I also get frustrated with all the food I have to avoid. I think it's only normal to have those feelings once in a while. Our world does seem to depend on wheat (and dairy
) and it's hard to avoid. When I start getting depressed about celiac disease and all my allergies I just think that I could have got something worse.

I'll be making:
chicken
gluten-free dressing
potatoes
vegetables, not sure what yet
I'm also going to make beef and chicken meat pie

I brought food on the plane fairly soon after the new rules and I was never questioned. I believe that I had gluten-free bread and donutes. I'm actually flying next week and I'm probably bringing gluten-free bread and carrot sticks.

My guesses are that your body doesn't handle alcohol that well now since you may still be healing or that you are allergic/intolerant to something else in the wine.
I can have problems with wine. Certain wines can contain casein (a milk protein) and sulphites. I am allergic to milk and metabisulphite so I'm assuming that was my problem. I have had certain wines with no problems. I have found a list of vegan wines: Open Original Shared Link

I use crest with no problems.

Pad Thai: New and Improved
1 bottle Thai Kitchen Original Pad Thai Sauce
2 Tablespoons olive oil
2-3 cups of bean sprouts
5 green onions, diced
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 onion, diced
1 red pepper, diced
1 orange or yellow pepper, diced
1-2 Tablespoons, fresh lime juice
3 eggs
1.5 cups uncooked basmatti rice OR cooked rice noodles (pad thai style)
1.5-2 Tablespoons basil
1 teaspoon Cilantro
1/2 teaspoon crushed red chilis
salt and pepper to taste
Cook all vegetables, lime juice, and spices in oil for about 10-15 minutes over medium heat (a wok works nicely). Be careful not to burn the vegetables. After about 7-8 minutes push the vegetables to the side creating a ring of vegetables with a hole in the middle. Place the eggs in the hole and stir them. Once the eggs are stirred, mix them in with the vegetables. Cook rice or noodles seperatly. Once everything is done, mix it all together including the Pad Thai Sauce. Serve.
Fried Potatoes
5-7 potatoes, cut into very thin slices
1-2 onions, diced or rings
3-4 cloves of garlic
2-3 tablespoons oilve oil
salt and pepper to taste
Heniz ketchup
Cook all vegetables, spices, and oil together until potatoes are done. Serve with ketchup.

diet coke - gluten-free
oatmeal - almost all oats are contaminated with wheat. There are some uncontaminated oats; however, some celiacs do react to the protein in pure uncontaminated oats.
rice krispies - not gluten-free, although there is a gluten-free equilvalent. Nature's Path Organic Crispy Rice has gluten-free right on the box.
canned kidney beans - I believe heinz are still gluten-free
toothpaste - I use crest

I remember having knee, hip and mild ankle pain in the months leading up to my diagnosis. My knee and hip pain were the worst by far. I had trouble walking sometimes and had a bit of a limp by times because of the knee pain. All this greatly improved after being gluten-free for a few months, the hip pain bothered me for at least 3-4 months after going on the gluten-free diet. I do get knee pain every once in a while, but never as bad as it used to be!

You may have a few options. You could put him back on gluten, but I believe he would have to be eating gluten for at least 3 months. Your other option may be to get a gene test done.

How about a board game?

About 3 years ago I was shedding more than normal hair when I was at my worst (around diagnosis). This improved after being on a gluten-free diet. However, I've noticed recently that I seem to be losing more hair than normal so I've started taking a multivitamin to see if that helps. My hair is also damaged and dry which is very unusual for me. If it doesn't seem to improve soon, I'm going to have to go see a doctor and maybe get my thyroid checked.

Wow! You guys sure got a lot of snow! That's crazy for November.
The weather has been a bit odd this fall in Canada. Vancouver got more snow than usual and cold temperatures, it was super cold here in Alberta, Saskatchewan has obviously been cold and has got lots of snow, and on PEI about 2-3 weeks ago people were golfing, mowing lawns, and doing yard work!

ok you guys , send some warm weather up here!
On top of the cold sanp and frigid wind chills, I have to walk everywhere including walking the kids to school all bundled up so they get there safe. Dearest hubby smashed up his truck (no one hurt, thank goodness) and is using my car to get to his job.
I am cold to the bone and wrapped in blanket after being outside yet again. Supposed to warm up later in the week. Yipee
"The stationary Yukon high which brought frigid conditions to much of Alberta remains entrenched over western Canada. Northwesterly outflow winds from this high over central and southern Alberta are expected to produce extreme wind chill values after sunset and into Wednesday morning. Wind chill values of minus 40 to minus 45 are forecast for the above mentioned warning regions."
YAY!
Does anyone else find it hard to breathe in this weather?
-
Right now the temperature is -28C (-39C with the wind chill)! Tonight the weather network says -30C. Yay! I've been wearing long john's for a while now.. since October.

These foods almost always make their way into my cart: peppers, baby carrots, bananas, celery, chicken, hamburger, steak, eggs, frozen veggies for Stir fries, Tropicana Calcium Orange Juice, Cranberry juice, So Good soy milk.
Every other week or so I'll get these: tuna, frozen berries, onions, garlic, potatoes, rice, sauces, salad dressing, plain popcorn kernals, So Good Ice Creame.

What about their nuts was NOT gluten free? Was the product just nuts? I'm finding it very confusing when products whose only ingredients are clearly gluten-free turn out not to be gluten-free, with nothing on the label suggesting that there is anything to check out.
I'm not sure what isn't gluten-free. From what I saw on the bottle of cashews they seemed gluten-free to me! Maybe they are contaminated with gluten? If they respond to me again I'll ask them if you would like.
-
I wrote them back pointing out the problem and I'm hoping they fix it.

I know how you feel. I think most of us get frustrated once in a while. I personally like my diet, I just don't like that gluten and dairy are everywhere! And that I always have to worry if I am going to get sick from things I eat. I really wish that there were more products produced in 100% gluten-free facilities. Dairy free would be nice too
-
I just got an e-mail from the company and their nuts are not gluten free. I just wanted to post this because the information about their gluten-free products in their FAQ section is misleading. I was considering eating their cashews, but I thought that I should make sure before I ate them. I'm glad that I did!
This is the statement on their website in the FAQ section:
"Do you have gluten-free products suitable for celiac?
Our products are gluten-free. However certain retail products that we manufacture may not be suitable for celiac, or those avoiding gluten."

They do have gluten-free products and I have a list if anyone is interested.

I got episods of more than normal hunger for a few months after starting the gluten-free diet. This got better with time. High protein foods may help. Try eating foods such as chili, gluten-free meat pies, steak, chicken, fish, turkey, ect.
