  1. The brand comes in filtered prerolled as well as loose tobacco and without all the extra chemicals they go out if you set them down for a minute. I live in a very high tax state so I go with the roll your own.
  2. When I had more than just myself eating gluten free I used a dedicated bread maker or made quick loaves. Now that it is just me I buy a bread that is frozen (Canyon Bakehouse or Grainless Baker) and I can either thaw the whole loaf or just what I need. There are some breads that are shelf stable like Schar that are pretty good also. Schar also makes the...
  3. Thought I should add that sharing could gluten you if the others were eating or drinking gluten.
  4. ZigZag papers in the white package are gluten free. I smoke American Spirit tobacco (they don't use any additives it is just tobacco) and those are the papers I use. Without all the added chemicals I went from a pack and a half a day to 5 cigs a day with no effort.
  5. "makes me wonder if I were able to correct the underlying issues ( diet, sleep, sunlight, stress ect ) if perhaps there's a chance my celiac / gluten intolerance might reverse?" I'm sorry but no there is no 'cure' for celiac once it develops. However by strictly following the diet you can become symptom free and issues you didn't realize were associated...
  6. Something that might help pinpoint other intolerances would be a doctor supervised elimination diet. The allergist you went to for the tests before might be helpful but not all allergists will help with eliminations. The doctor would first interview you to find out your typical diet and then give you a balanced starting point with 5 or 6 foods. You would...
  7. If you go to the top of the Prediagnosis thread (or any other) you will see a red box that says 'start new topic' if you click on that you will be able to start a new thread.
  8. Have you talked to a nurse or your doctor about these fears? They might be able to reassure you. Hopefully some of our members from the UK will respond but you may want to start a new thread to ask them about their experiences with endos in your country.
  9. Yes symptoms can change. When I was young my main symptoms were DH and severe constipation. The C eventually eased up then was replaced by D and nerve issues. Time from exposure to first syptoms also can vary with some folks. For example a DH outbreak was my first sign that something 'got' me but now after many years gluten-free it is the last symptom to...
  10. I developed DH as a young child after being impaled. It was one of my first celiac symptoms. At that time I was eating lots of cereals and breads that were fortified. There is no way I was niacin deficient. Unfortunately we have two posters who seem to think that niacin is a cure-all for celiac. I do hope newbies are not mislead into thinking a few vitamins...
  11. What blood tests were done? Not everyone shows up positive on every test in the panel. It is possible you are experiencing the reason why doctors thought for years that celiac was a childhood disease that could be outgrown. It is now realized that some folks can go through a honeymoon period when they have healed and seem to tolerate gluten again. The body...
  12. Call your doctor's office and get a letter from him stating the need for the 504. There is a lot that needs to be done to keep your child safe and they can not legally ignore his needs.
  13. The wait can be so tough especially when we know what is causing the symptoms. If you can get in on short notice call the GI's office and ask to be put on the cancellation list. That way they might be able to get you in sooner. You can go gluten free as soon as the biopsy is done. Damage can be patchy and get missed and with positive blood work you need...
  14. As others have said it is usually a pretty easy procedure. The worst part for me was the waiting also. Have you talked to your doctor about your level of anxiety? He/She may be able to give you a few anti-anxiety meds just to help you sleep until you get the procedure done.
  15. It is such a relief to know she is now home. Be sure to get all of her first degree relatives checked now even if they don't seem to have symptoms. Do read over the Newbie thread at the top of the Coping section if you haven't already, as you will need to make sure that she is eating safely now that you have her home and under your loving care. I hope she...
  16. If the rash is DH then be aware that those of us who have DH can be very sensitive to even small amounts of cross contamination. It can take some time for the antibodies to leave the skin so you may get mystery rashes for a bit. Do make sure that you have done all you can to eliminate the chance of CC in your home. You need your own new jars of nut butters...
  17. "Irresistible Bowel" ? Thanks for the laugh this morning. Think I'll pass on what they are selling.
  18. So sorry you are having to deal with all this. Talk to your doctor If she has been diagnosed she needs to be gluten free. If the hospital is not taking care of that of course she is still vomitting. This has to be torture for her and you. I would want to get my child out of that situation as soon as possible also. I hope this is over for you soon and she...
  19. You may want to check with any Celiac Support groups in your area or your GI's office to see if they know of any place. You also might be able to get assistance in your own home from Certified Nurses Aides or Home Health workers. In some areas a persons family members or freinds can get paid to help. Your local Social Services office or Center for the Aging...
  20. Did the neurologist do an MRI of your brain? I ask because gluten ataxia causes white spots similiar to the lesions seen with MS. Those white spots, called UBOs, are diagnostic of the antibodies attacking the brain. Folks that have gluten ataxia can have it for a long time before gut symptoms become obvious. If you do have gluten ataxia, perhaps what your...
  21. On the prescription bottle will be the name of the maker. Usually in very small print. You can contact the maker yourself if you feel the need by doing a search for their contact info. You should let your pharmacist know that you are celiac that way they can check the med before you get it filled. Just remind them with each script to be on the safe side....
  22. The Alprazolam by Sandoz is for sure gluten free. Not all are. I was glutened by one from a different maker and because I don't take it very often it took me a long time to figure it out. I let the Pharmacy know and they got the Sandoz back. I get the same emotional effect from gluten as you and it can be hard for those around us to deal with when it...
  23. My understanding is that the iodine doesn't cause a DH flare. It somehow keeps the antibodies from being removed from the skin. So if you are consuming gluten or getting CCed there are more antibodies to react which makes the rash more extensive. Once those antibodies have cleared gluten will still cause a DH outbreak but it will be much, much more mild....
  24. I have ataxia and for me it is a feeling like walking on a ship that is in a high sea. I had ataxia since childhood and needed canes by the time I was diagnosed. Over 40 years later... Ataxia has pretty much resoved but I did need to get physical therapy to walk normally. I don't however feel dizzy thankfully. If the dizzy feeling sticks around after your...
