I don't think that we can safely conclude that at this time. I have seen others on the forum comment in posts that go back 2-3 years that they have been glutened by "gluten-free" products from Trader Joe's, and now their bagels were found via one of the tests to contain gluten. So, given that broader context, the conclusion that is most logical is that we...

Good experience at The Olive Garden
GardeningForHealth replied to Oldturdle's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
If you get sick eating foods that a restaurant told you were gluten-free, you can file a complaint with the FDA. I myself have gotten sick at every restaurant I ate at, except for 3. And out of those 3, 2 are local to me and one is a chain. And the chain, I only ate at a total of 3 times in my life, and all 3 times were at the same location, so maybe... -
I was just reading through USDA recalls today; the recalls at this link publicly call out the name of the company, what is being recalled, and why. This is the kind of transparency needed. We do not say that this USDA recall database is too extreme. Among many reasons why products may end up being recalled, undeclared wheat in the product is one reason. However...

Ok so this is starting to look like we have uncovered something important here; it appears that the gluten testing done by food manufacturers--if any--is done behind the scenes and is done under Non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) which prevent the food manufacturer's test results from being shared publicly. How did that happen? That is not acceptable....

I think that GFWD's suggestion that the G12 test without added protein may be a false positive is not grounded in facts and does not best serve those with Celiac and NCGS. Why? Because when it comes to our health, we need to err on the side of caution. Assuming that a positive result may be a false positive is not erring on the side of caution. Gluten...

Even though I have been on the gluten-free diet for 10 years now, I continue to experience either food intolerances or exposures to gluten; I do not know which it is (or it could be both). These exposures cause illness in the form of fatigue, brain fog, and increased vertigo/dizziness, that are significant enough to impact my ability to be productive and...

Very soon, there will finally be one or more medications that receive FDA approval for the treatment of Celiac Disease. However, for those of us such as myself who tested positive for the Celiac Panel, but never followed up with an endoscopy to confirm, we do not have a diagnosis of Celiac Disease. Therefore, we will not have access to these medications...

In this thread, I initially assumed that I was experiencing "new" food sensitivities to non-gluten foods over time, and at an increasing rate. However, now I am re-assessing this assumption and asking myself, are these sensitivities actually due to ongoing exposures to gluten instead? I think we are uncovering important information here on this website...

Update: Larabars is owned by General Mills. General Mills got back to me with a non-answer boilerplate response regarding their gluten testing. I am asking for a copy of their Certificate of Analysis / laboratory gluten testing. I replied back just now, once again requesting a COA on their Larabars.

Of course, meat is naturally gluten-free, and can only contain gluten if it's been cross-contaminated. In this publication, the authors found ground meat to contain more gluten than anything else tested. What is going on here? https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35267339/ - download the article, scroll down to Table 2 and look at Sample 1: ground raw meat...

I just looked back at my own numbers, and I guess the anti-gliadin is a little more stubborn and takes longer to go down. My numbers here: Eating gluten: 10 years ago: gliadin abs 21; ttG 28 Gluten-free diet: 9 years ago: gliadin abs: 7, ttG 3 8 years ago: gliadin abs: 6, ttG 3 7 years ago: gliadin abs: 5, ttG <2 6 years...

TLDR: It seems that this phenomenon of different tests getting different results is common, and gluten testing should be using more than one type of ELISA test to detect gluten anyway. In light of the info in the rest of this post, my own curiosity on this matter is now satisfied; to me, all the results are accurate, including the G12 without-milk-positive...

GFW is claiming in their link here https://www.glutenfreewatchdog.org/product/trader-joes-gluten-free-almost-everything-bagels-2024/1348 that the G12 test without milk additive was the only positive test and then they are claiming here https://www.glutenfreewatchdog.org/news/correcting-the-record-gluten-free-watchdogs-testing-of-trader-joes-gluten-free-almost...

I would like to see this topic "increasing food intolerances over time in Celiacs" studied scientifically, as it seems to be so common, yet I've never seen any studies on pubmed about it.

Gluten Free Watchdog has issued an update: https://www.glutenfreewatchdog.org/news/correcting-the-record-gluten-free-watchdogs-testing-of-trader-joes-gluten-free-almost-everything-bagels/ So now the issue seems to be boiling down to R5 Elisa testing method vs G12 Elisa testing method, which are producing different results under different conditions.

HRI needs to re-do their testing, while GFW needs to test the same samples that HRI did, and meanwhile, GFCO needs to order independent testing outside of their certification program. Instead of everybody digging their heels in, lets see some cooperation in the gluten-free community and get some definitive answers.

Oh my... Also, Page 12 of https://gfco.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/GFCO-Manual.pdf: Companies wishing to apply for product certification need to complete the appropriate GFCO Certification Application and a non-disclosure/confidentiality agreement. But why though? Food safety testing results shouldn't be confidential; it should be published publicly...

So now its a he said she said. There shouldn't be this kind of drama in food safety testing. There is too much at stake.

From their denial statement: "We asked the manufacturers to run multiple tests on their retained samples from the lots named in the MAA report." Why didn't GFCO do their own testing, instead of asking the manufacturers to re-run tests? I thought that GFCO was more of a "watchdog" pro-consumer organization who did their own independent testing. Another...
