Thank you for the insights/link, @trents! I'm glad you mentioned it; the article clarified some of the questions I had after watching a researcher interview on BeyondCeliac, talking about 'long-term immune T-cell scarring'. Exciting times for research though, with implications for related autoimmune conditions! And maybe making EGD testing in the future unnecessary...

Hello @trents! May I ask the question in reverse? If I present at EGD with zero villous atrophy confirmed with multiple biopsies, that means I am either presenting as a non-Celiac OR I've eaten well enough for long enough to heal all remnants of Celiac-induced atrophy? Is that the goal of a Celiac eating a gluten-free diet? To be indistinguishable from a...

Thanks again @Scott Adams! I pick up something new every time I read over these articles. I also wanted to share a link to Labcorp's current Celiac tests (as of Aug 2024); they have options for both patients with diets containing gluten and patients on a gluten-free diet! (This page is from the 'Provider' tab, with test panel numbers/descriptions...

Yes, I was super excited to see all the Celiac Panels @RMJ, and then immediately overwhelmed because I have no idea what I'm ordering either! That helps a ton! And was exactly what I was looking for: a specific breakdown of which test(s) were done, which were ordered, and which ones can I order myself, so thank you for taking the time to spell it out! And...

Hey all! Several testing questions, thank you in advance... I haven't drawn these yet and hoping to get clarification here first before I go! I've switched providers and new doc ordered something called "Celiac Disease Panel" blood-work. But in the meantime, I set up my new patient account w/Labcorp & noticed they have OnDemand testing, so I paid...

What is the Relationship Between Oxalate and Celiac Disease?
SunshineFace commented on Susan Costen Owens's article in Spring 2015 Issue
I appreciate the author starts off by talking about how we can think outside the box to put all the puzzle pieces together! I originally learned about oxalate while researching autism & high oxalate foods when my grandsons were diagnosed autistic a few years ago. Since they have food sensitivities, it made sense to look at all the dietary interventions...- 19 comments

Thank you @Scott Adams for the links and the encouragement! And just to be sure I understand, the 6-8 weeks is only for bloodwork - as it takes a while for antibodies to build up, but they remain elevated for weeks after stopping consumption. And it sounds like bloodwork isn’t always that accurate? But only 2 weeks to show damage to vili verifiable o...

Gluten Free and Diabetes - This is a NIGHTMARE
SunshineFace replied to Ginger38's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes @Ginger38, this is a hard place to be when you can tolerate very little! I used to eat carbs ALL THE TIME. Like almost exclusively. This list you gave: "toast, corn dogs, pizza crusts, pizza rolls, soups” That was my diet for decades. Very little thought to proteins and fats. And when I had to change my diet for blood sugar reasons - it was only then I... -

Gluten Free and Diabetes - This is a NIGHTMARE
SunshineFace replied to Ginger38's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi @Ginger38! So sorry you are having to go thru this! It’s so frustrating!! I am new here so I still have a lot to learn about ‘glutening’ but I wanted to share my story in case it helps. I first changed up my diet due to pre-diabetes diagnosis last fall. (Celiac/Gluten intolerance was never on my mind) I kept testing multiple times a day, and I found out q... -
Gluten Free Chocolate
SunshineFace replied to Jane07's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It’s the middle of summer where I live ☀️ and I found I still had an old ice cream maker so I’ve been making my own. Sometimes I’ll throw in fresh fruits and other times chocolate & nuts. Anyone else making ice cream or popsicles or other cool treats? 😎 -
Hey All! Found my way here accidentally by eating grain-free to lower my A1c levels for the past 6 months. It worked, but then noticed hypothyroid symptoms and met with PCP. She suggested celiac panel test, but said it might be false positive if not eaten gluten recently. So I started back eating bread that same day. That was 2 weeks ago. I had sudden onset...

Great convo! I’m new here… I’m doing a gluten challenge and eating one full-size croissant per day (with a full meal). I am two weeks in and interestingly, the first two days were the worst, and after that my body seemed to ‘adapt’ somehow. I am operating at pretty diminished levels for sure. But nothing like the first couple of days. Do we have a chart h...
