  1. Ya I used to react to iodine, but it doesn't bother me anymore after strict adherence to a gluten-free diet for many years now. I am happy to report that for the first time ever in my life, a probiotic formula is not making me break out, but actually seems to be helping. The strains in this formula have been specifically tested to help with skin issues. It...
  2. The study you posted was done by the USDA. Not much more needs to be said about that. It only tested for one type of parasite. There are many types of parasites that are typically only found in meat. I have tried all different kinds of dairy - whole, nonfat, skim, etc. I cannot eat any dairy, no matter what kind. I have wondered about iodine. Some people...
  3. Agreed. Dairy is just as bad as gluten for me.
  4. Yes it happens if I eat yogurt to.
  5. Thank you for this information and your post. I have tried just about every diet there is. I have been experimenting with diet for years and years. I am a vegan, so the diet you mentioned is not an option. Fasting always works for me. Probably because I am detoxing and not feeding candida or parasites. Meat eaters have a higher prevalence of parasites, just...
  6. Anyone try this? No matter what the brand, probiotics have ALWAYS made me break out bad. I am hesitant to try this simply for that fact, but I ordered a 3 month supply. Any input would be appreciated. Wish me luck.
  7. Ya I am certain that there is a correlation between dermatitis herpetiformis and fungus, at least in my case. Uses of antibiotics at a young age also cause imbalances of the microbiome which leads to fungal overgrowth. I believe this had a crucial role in what started my downhill spiral with Celiac and dermatitis herpetiformis.
  8. I've had fungal problems. I even had an infection in my blood at one point. I am currently taking a supplement to control candida and I'm down to 25 of Dapsone. Seems to be helping quite a bit. Right after I take the Candida Support by Now Foods, I have no itch for hours afterwards.
  9. Wow! I didn't realize that. I've tried various brands and I seem to get a reaction every time, although sometimes with a delayed onset. Can you recommend any brands??
  10. I agree. It may help to explain some of the reasons people develop intolerances to other foods also.

  14. I'm at work but I'll see what I can dig up when I'm off. Yes I agree that celiac disease is the cause of dermatitis herpetiformis, but there are some insights that suggest yeasts or fungus may be one of the things that initially triggers celiac disease in genetically disposed people. I believe I even read something about it on this site. I had to take repeated...
  15. A lot of new research and speculation is pointing to a link between yeast/fungal overgrowth and celiac disease/dermatitis herpetiformis.
  16. Trents - there is a lot of research and speculation that dermatitis herpetiformis, at least in part, can have fungal overgrowth as one of the causes or underlying factors. Fungal outbreaks are also characterized by extreme itching and burning just like dermatitis herpetiformis. If this theory is any bit true, it would make sense that anti-fungal creams would...
  17. Buckwheat and quinoa are good as mentioned. I would recommend lots of vegetables. Acacia fiber is really good also and helps promote good bacteria growth, as most fiber does.
  18. I know I need them because from everything I've researched, it seems like my dermatitis herpetiformis is exacerbated by fungal overgrowth. I have been taking Dapsone for the past decade or so and multiple other antibiotics before that. However, every time I try to add probiotics to my regimen, I have extreme reactions very quickly. Maybe this is is from fungal...
  19. I've had this same issue. The conclusion my Dr. and I have come to is that I have become sensitive to other foods also. It is theorized that people with celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis have compromised microbiomes from prolonged antibiotic use and other factors. I am 46 and there are lots of other foods now that cause me to have reactions. The...
  20. Maybe, but I have been diagnosed with celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis. I think the constant use of antibiotics has messed up my microbiome and made intolerant to a lot of foods. Cannot do dairy either. This is not uncommon for people with celiac disease.
  21. Oh sorry, fasting might me tricky with T1D. I would read up on it. There are some sources that claim fasting help diabetes also.
  22. Somebody mentioned oats previously. I have celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis. Oats mess me up just as bad as anything else, even the "gluten free" ones. I would stay away from iodized salt also, as someone mentioned. People with celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis have tend to have lots of other triggers or intolerances besides gluten. Citric...
