  1. Asked hubby to help me remind kids to clear their dishes from the table and keep their stuff off of the kitchen island (hairbrushes, library books, school id . . . ). I said I was starting my new year's resolution early . . . to keep the kitchen table and island clear of clutter. Hubby: "Oh, like last year there would be no dirty dishes in the sink...
  2. Just got Groupon email offering Pilates classes . . . thought it said Pirate classes . . . makes me think of Jess.
  3. What about the crutch tip? Did you bring the crutch tip? I sure hope that tom is planning another promptu proclamation.
  4. . . . true dat!! Skeeter told me she saw a movie (or show or something) the other day and she could tell it was "old" because there was a record player in it.
  5. Hmmmmm . . . gonna take some getting use to . . . Seems a little . . . empty? . . . Like a new house where you don't have enough furniture for all the rooms. Lucky for us, it's prime shoppin' time and we can fill this thing up with all kinds of cr@p. I went shopping today not something that I would normally do as I abhor crowds. However, I've...
  6. Hey Psillie, leaving you a comment . . . just to see what happens

  7. I think you're going to have to make it yourself. I'm a person that will "wing it" based on the list of ingredients...but if you want a recipe to start with, you could start here: www.mushroom-appreciation.com/golden-mushroom-soup.html (link wouldn't work, you'll have to cut and paste this address into your browser) It includes milk which I would...
  8. Just looked up the ingredients: Beef Stock, Water, Mushrooms, Tomato Puree, Wheat Flour, Modified Food Starch, Salt, Sauterne Wine . . . . So yeah, our suggestions are nothing like it . . . I don't know of another product like that . . . I'll look next time I'm at the store.
  9. Like Lisa, I have used the Pacific Natural soups (Cream of Mushroom and Cream of Chicken). These are condensed soups. I've also used Progresso's Creamy Mushroom for certain recipes. It's not condensed and the mushrooms are slices and therefore "recognizeable". I actually have to puree it when I use it because nobody in my family will eat mushrooms . ...
  10. Just so you know . . . you are answering a post that is almost three years old. Although the info is good for anyone else needing help with substitutions, the original poster probably has figured out which pancake recipe works for them
  11. First of all, let me ask which mixes you have tried . . . ?? I prefer homemade compared to the mixes that I have tried. This is the recipe that I use: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/gluten-free-yellow-cake/detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Title&e11=gluten%20free%20yellow%20cake&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e7=Home%20Page Except...
  12. The typical shelf life of gluten free foods is not as long as the gluten-filled foods. Plus, not as many people buy gluten free and the turnover at the grocery store can be unpredictable. In order to keep items in stock from going bad, they are often frozen. As far as the nonfrozen buns that you just bought, I would say that was because the store got...
  13. We use the same pots/pans/utensils/storage containers/etc. I have a gluten cutting board and a gluten free cutting board. We only have gluten free pasta now so only one colandar but I would have a separate one of those. I put aluminum foil on my baking sheet when I'm making my son a corn dog or gluten chicken nuggets . . . even though I can wash that off...
  14. Exactly what I was thinking . . . inquiring minds want to know!!!
  15. Grilled Cheese Sandwich for my daughter and French Toast for my son . . . because apparently, I'm a freakin' short order cook a loving and caring mother!!!
  16. Swedish meatballs served over tinkyada fettucini noodles...was a big hit last time I served it.
  17. Not knowing all the details . . . how long you've been gluten free, what items are making you sick . . . First, you do need to make sure the product is gluten free. Evaluate the possibility that it may be cc'd during the manufacturing process. That being said, as you are healing, some products may be particualary iritating to your system, and quite...
  18. Dang!!! Looks like Patti's cat-like reflexes beat me to the punch.
  19. Maltodextrin is not the same as malt. It is a highly processed starch. In the US, it is derived from potato or corn. If it was derived from wheat, it would have to be called out per labeling laws. Google "maltodextrin gluten free" and loads of info will come up. Likewise, modified food starch is also gluten free unless it is derived from wheat and...
  20. Here is a link to the thread you were referring to
  21. thinks her phriends are all psillie!!!

  22. My apologies. I stand corrected.
  23. Most do. If you are in the US, Lea & Perrins is gluten free.
  24. Wal-Mart's Great Value Brand Chicken Broth is gluten free (says on the box under the ingredients). I haven't checked the beef broth but I would bet it is and would say so. Herb-Ox bouillon cubes are gluten-free, but I prefer the Better Than Bouillon brand . . . it comes as a paste.
  25. If you are looking for mainstream cereals ('cause those specialty ones are so expensive ) try Fruity Pebbles Coco Pebbles Rice Chex Tiger&Pooh (kind of like a sweet Kix) Dora the Explorer Stars (cinnamon-y)
