  1. I don't react the same way to all of them but do react badly to many of them where others may not. I also have a touch of hypochondria so when the labs come back too high or makes me anxious. I am dismayed but not really surprised that I may be in the small group of people to suffer a particular side effect. I was originally on warfirin. I think that was...
  2. That's interesting because I think that the lousy 81 mg irritates my gut. I'm sensitive to drugs in general and blood thinners are all the same to me so aspirin necessary evil. As they say, better to be a live chicken than a dead duck.
  3. I was checking aip diet and discovered that aspirin is prohibited. I definitely can understand why that is but my cardio dr says to stay on it. So aip is done before I even get started.
  4. Depending on which source you research sprouting or fermentation can reduce lectins. I sprout rice, buckwheat and quinoa. However, I admit that gas and intestinal inflammation still plague me after 5 1/2 mo gluten-free. I have been resisting but I may try the aip diet at some point.
  5. Flavorings usually identified but don't know if there are laws that govern that. I bot lamb shanks that had rosemary flavor but did not see anything else that might be a grain so I ate it. I eat tons ground beef usually organic and grass fed from aldi. Not identified as gluten-free but hopefully it is. On the other hand I would only eat hot dogs which has...
  6. Finally found something with less methyl folate and 12. Many b complex are loaded with too much biotin which I did not want either. I will take an additional 100 mg tab of b1. I will take this lighter version for 3 weeks and maybe take the heavier one for 1 week. Not happy that autolyzed yeast added as other ing but will look into it further. Amount...
  7. I have ingested 100 mcg of folic acid for many years but wised up and switched to folate about 3 months ago. I am now taking optimized b100 complex which includes folate 1240 mcg dfe (as 6s methyltetrahydrofolic acid, glucosamine salt, quatrefolic. Also get another 70 mcg from beef liver as well as whatever else from diet. I am not quite certain how much...
  8. hi @knitty kitty I knew there had to be somebody else that liked liver. Hearing of your weight loss/recovery and seeing another half pound gain this morning helps relieve some of the anxieties associated with celiac disease. I never thought that I would get excited about weight gain. I am going to add a 100 g thiamine tablet at noon time and...
  9. OK maybe I will look at future blood test just for historical changes. I am taking b vitamins as I mentioned in my other post to you. Definitely interested in Benfotiaminefor intestinal issues. However I already seem to be feeling some improvement in diverticulosis. Constipation gone but I think that resuming glucosamine may have something to do with that...
  10. Thanks @knitty kitty, I read your v b info with much interest for last few months. Here is my weight per event: sept 8, 2022- 181 lbs june 1, 2024 gluten free july 4- 143.5 lbs july31- changed from regular b to methyl folate and b12. oct 8- 150 lbs So weight hopefully coming back albeit very slowly. So probably my villi...
  11. hi knitty, I figured while reading the first few paragraphs of your post that thiamin would come into the conversation, haha. Anyway, I just had annual physical and asked for the b vitamins and others to be incl in the blood test. B12, folate, and b6 came back about mid range but they did not take enough blood to complete the b1 and b2. Are the good results...
  12. Good thought about the countries not producing a lot of wheat.
  13. Thanks Scott, The ing are salmon and salt. I had been buying aldi brand 14.5 oz can for around $3.30 but very difficult to get info on. I may upgrade to Safe Catch ($3.09 for only 5 oz) which claims to be gluten-free but does not say that on the can label. The co rep said most all fish canned in thailand or viet nam. So it seems that probably aldi brand and...
  14. Thanks I am trying. Boulder is one chip co that states gluten-free on their bags of chips made with olive or avacado oil. Seems that they would no be quite as unhealthy to eat as those made with vegetable oil.
  15. Liver is one of the healthiest foods to eat notwithstanding cholesterol and fat. Liver also has higher amounts of vitamin A and copper so to avoid getting caught up in that I eat 1/2 ounce per day.
  16. Thanks captain. Sounds right as I am spending more on food as a newbie celiac. I will probably upgrade to safe catch. It sounds safer as the name implies but cost almost twice as much. Probably return to store brand once villi begin to work again.
  17. Could not find product that states gluten-free on label. Salmon starts out gluten-free but what happens in canning facility. Safe catch brand claims nothing with gluten is processed at facility where cooking and canning takes place which is in thailand. Any thoughts?
  18. I have had microscopic blood in my urine every blood test for last 50 yrs. Initial testing indicated nephritis/berger's disease which could impact the kidneys. I have always paid special attention to testing to see if it ever went higher than +1in rbc. Yesterday I had my annual physical and the urinalysis came back normal. As reference point, I have been...
  19. Just checking that you are taking 1000 mcg b 12. The reason I ask is because I take 100 which I thought was a lot at over 4000% of rda even though the body allegedly throws off what is not needed.
  20. Good point, think I will have spend a bit more and buy boulder at whole foods.
  21. Trader joe stocks a potato chip simply that is made with potato, olive oil and sea salt but is not stated as gluten-free.. Many chip bags state gluten free but this one does not. Of interest, I raised the point of cross contamination to my gastro doc and he just waived it off said don't worry about it but being a newly diagnosed celiac {4 months} I am being...
  22. I had a triple bypass so do not eat cheese or butter but I use avocado oil freely. Do not eat potato chips etc every night anymore instead fruit and or bowl of cereal with nut milk. Diet is much cleaner now but qty remains the same. My diet seems nutritional enough and pretty much follows: breakfast- hard boiled egg, 1/2 oz beef liver, cereal: flax,...
  23. I lost 36 pounds (180 to 144) over several months after bypass surgery in sept 2022. I bottomed out at 144 pounds early july this year. Since then slowly gained 5 pounds to 149 but have stalled ther for last few weeks. I read that surgeries can instigate celiac disease in older adults and endoscopy confirmed it april 30. But the weight loss bothers me...
  24. Very interesting, thanks. I have been taking vitamin d since surgery but am going to have all the important so called celiac supplements tested next annual physical coming up end of month. Tylenol reminds me of story on how vegetable oil ind mass campaign against coconut oil decades ago.
  25. knitty, I am scheduled for physical exam near eom. Would like to have b 12 etc tested. Should I stop taking supplements so as not to get false readings? Is stopping supplements for 3 weeks or so causing harm?
