I love to watch movies, especially chick flicks, grill, exercise, hang out with friends, and am very much a homebody. I am also a youth leader at my church and love to hang out with teenagers. My nephews are my pride and joy and are a lot of fun!

  1. I have noticed on Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts that you buy at the grocery store that it lists "chicken broth" as an ingredient. For me, chicken broth usually always has gluten in it. Is it safe for us in general to eat the chicken, or if the broth did have wheat would they have to put that as one of the ingredients?

I am just wondering if the chicken is normally safe?

    Thanks and God bless,

    Bobbi

  2. for me....I definitely can't have shampoo/conditioner's with wheat in them. My hair sheds really bad if they have gluten and my scalp itches really really bad.

Be careful of consuming gluten b/c you don't get sick. Even if you don't feel like your having a reaction it can still be doing damage to your body. There are a lot of long term effects of eating gluten if you have celiac disease. But of course each person is different and has to do what is best for them, I just wanted to give you food for thought since you said you started 2 weeks ago. Since I was diagnosed 5 years ago, 4 1/2 of those years I still ate gluten not realizing it was like poison to my body b/c my doctor incorrectly told me it didn't matter if I ate gluten and it made me sick.

  3. I am totally freaking out. I realized the seriousness of this disease and cross contamination this weekend when I found out I was still being "glutened" by my shampoo/conditioner and I needed to check the labels on EVERYTHING, not just what I eat. So does that mean if I come across crumbs on my desk at work dropped from someone walking by, I can get sick, or by touching the shopping cart at the grocery store. How do you know what's in the soap in public restrooms? If I am married, and my husband is not gluten free does that mean he can't kiss me or I could be glutened? I am feeling COMPLETELY OVERWHELMED and feel like I need to crawl in a bubble and never come out!!

Please Help! Am I taking this way overboard and being paranoid? How do I "live" gluten free and actually have a life!?!

  4. I crave pizza often, and it has been really hard for not having Pizza Hut as it is my faovorite.

I have to say though that "Chebe" is a new close second as my favorite, and not just because it's gluten free and I have to. I make it all the time for my family and friends and they LOVE it!!!

You can order it at the Gluten free mall, and check out all their products at www.chebe.com. I also love their breadsticks, all purpose bread mix and cinnamon mix.

They are all wonderful and reasonably priced!

  5. Yah, I think my "doctor" (if you can call him that) was an IDIOT! Who knew nothing about celiac disease and just thought I needed to know I had it, but it wouldn't hurt me to eat gluten.

I do read all of the ingredients, such as the hershey's sticks, and just a side note, most of the Hershey products are gluten free. But of course, you always have to check because they could decide to change them at any time.

I am thinking since I have not been back to the doctor since I was diagnosed 5 years ago that I should have a check up...what do you guys think? Do I need to?

  6. For those interested...I have never had a problem with the CC at Taco Bell. They are always great to accommodate my needs. For example, on Saturday I requested they use a new glove to make my steak fiesta bowl. I feel like it's hard to find fast food places with choices that are gluten free. For example, KFC only has two items, the potato salad and the coleslaw. I copied the five items below from tacobell.com, but I think 5 items is quite a few. Maybe it's because I am from a small town in Nebraska and don't have all of the choices that larger towns do. None of our restaurants actually have gluten free menu's like Outback or PF Changs, we have to drive 3 hours to enjoy those luxuries.

As always each person is completely different, and CC can effect others in different ways so you always have to be careful and do what is best for you.

    God Bless,

    Bobbi

Suggestions for Wheat and Gluten Sensitive Individuals

    - Tostada

    - Fiesta Taco Salad (order Chicken instead of Beef; order without the shell and without the Red Strips)

    - Express Taco Salad (order Chicken instead of Beef)

    - Zesty Chicken BORDER BOWL

  7. Taco Bell's Steak Fiest Bowl is DELICIOUS!!! And is gluten free if you don't get the Jalepino sauce. I add Sour Cream and Guacamole and it is my favorite meal. I eat it atleast once a week.

Taco Bell lists their gluten free items on the website and actually have quite a few choices.

  8. Taco Johns......

I call a local restaurant this weekend and asked about ingredients. If you have them fry the potato ole's in a seperate fryer ( the manager said they would do this), than they are gluten free, and the seasoning. Also, the chicken they use for the chicken soft tacos is gluten free. You would have to bring your own corn tortilla though b/c the hard shell tacos are not just corn, they have wheat. The taco meat has oats.

That is all I asked about though is those 4 things. I was excited b/c I LOVE Taco Johns!! I get such a craving for those yummy spice potatoes!

  9. I LOVE WW!!! I have lost 30 pounds in the last 5-6 mos and I believe that my celiac disease is a blessing. I think that it aids in my weight loss because I don't have the temptations of fast food, chips, etc. that someone w/out celiac is subject to. I currently went down on my point allowance from 24 to 22 and I thought it would be really hard but it's not. I think that celiac helps because a lot of the foods are natural and homemade which lowers the fat and calories of processed foods.

    My typical day:

    Breakfast:

    rice cake w/ peanut butter

    fruit

    Lunch:

I cook one big meal each weekend to eat as leftovers such as Enchilada Lasagna or Baked Ziti, or something in my crockpot. If not that then I usually eat some lunch meat or a hot dog.

    Dinner:

    Grilled Fish, salmon, or chicken

    vegiges

    Fruit

Snacks: 1 point pudding cups, fruit, popcorn, Hershey's 60 calorie sticks.

I work out 4 days a week and eat a ton of fruit and veggies which helps to keep me full. I hope that helps if you need anything else let me know. I have had celiac disease for 5 years, but my doctor who diagnosed me said it didn't matter if I still ate gluten, so I just started being 100% gluten free in the last 5-6 mos after realizing the huge long term effects of eating gluten and just sick of being sick all the time. I realized this CAN'T BE NORMAL!!!

  10. I recently read that Catwalk by Tigi, the Curls Rock product line was gluten free. I went to my salon to purchase this product as I recently learned that Matrix Curl Life has wheat in it. I was surprised to see "wheat amino acid" listed as an ingredient. Does anyone know what amino acids are and if this ingredient is unsafe for someone with Celiac Disease?

I am feeling so overwhelmed and frustrated right now. I always thought I had to be careful about just what i ate, but within the last few days realized I had to now start reading labels on everything, from hair products, to lotions, make-up and cleaning supplies. This stupid disease is so hard and I hate it.

I keep trying to remind myself though that I could have things a lot worse, and to thank God for all the blessings I do have, and that I don't have it worse.

Any suggestions, pointers, advice, encouragement, recipes, so yah, ANYTHING would be appreciated and beneficial to me!!!

    Thanks and God Bless
