ARCHIVED Can Celiac Cause Extreme Morning Sickness
silly celiac replied to Bethinjapan's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I've been gluten-free for two years now and am almost 14 weeks with my first. I had extreme nausea and fatigue for about 2 months which was followed by daily dry heaves. I've only puked twice.... mostly I've had symptoms from the other direction, even before knowing I was pregnant. I thought it was gluten, but now I really believe it was just my version of... -
ARCHIVED Yoplait New Labeling
silly celiac replied to Charlotte K's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I received the exact same response today, except with the following also added in: "All Yoplait Original, Light, and Thick & Creamy yogurts are gluten free at this time, but we encourage our consumers to continue checking the label for any sources of gluten if the product is not marked GLUTEN FREE. We are working towards expanding the gluten free... -
ARCHIVED Yoplait Yogurt
silly celiac replied to nowheat4me's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
<sigh...> I just bought a bunch of Yoplait this weekend- I've been eating more of it lately because my guts have been "off". I now wonder if it was the yogurt giving me that feeling! I checked my fridge yesterday and actually had two of the same flavor- one labeled gluten free, the other not. The un-labeled one has a later date on it. ... -
ARCHIVED Daily Gluten Free Product Email
silly celiac replied to hollyres's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I like having the visual- it makes it easier to remember the products! -
ARCHIVED Thanksgiving Disasters
silly celiac replied to Tephie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm still easing into the cooking- I never cooked before going gluten-free! But we made some foods to share that were safe for me in case there was nothing for me to eat (we went to 2 different houses yesterday)- well at both houses, it was the grandma that put me into a gluten panic. One tried handing me a dirty knife (dirty from the turkey cooked with stuffing... -
For those of you who have battled the yeast demon: How did you figure out that it was the problem? I know the obvious symptoms of the typical female yeast infection, but I'm wondering more about problems with yeast overgrowth in the guts. What symptoms were you experiencing? Is there a test... or is it just looking at the "big picture" of symptoms...

ARCHIVED Flat Top Grill In Bloomington, Il
silly celiac replied to bakinghomesteader's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I've been too nervous about cc to attempt to go to Flat Top. It's a very busy place (at least the one by me), and it just seems like it would be too easy to mix stuff up. I'd rather take my chances at a steak house. -
ARCHIVED Can't Find Dora Stars Or Little Einsteins Anywhere!
silly celiac replied to buffettbride's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
People think I'm crazy when I say I love my Dora cereal, yet somehow... they are trying it and liking it! I used to be able to find it at Walmart, but haven't seen it there recently- not since they were on sale for several weeks in a row. I figure the almighty W was demanding too low of a price... don't get me started on my Walmart opinions! Anyhow... -
ARCHIVED Fort Wayne Support?
silly celiac replied to silly celiac's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Indy is a bit far, and a bit different, from Fort Wayne. And for me, it's just not a realistic option at this time. That is why I first posted this. I would love to join or start something here locally. When I met with a dietician at Dupont in mid-September, she said that at one time several years ago, there had been a small group of some sort, but it never... -
ARCHIVED Are Topicals Really That Important?
silly celiac replied to lilred1's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have noticed improvement in the condition of my hair and skin since switching to gluten-free products, and personally, after all the work I have done to keep my guts safe, I would hate to risk accidentally ingesting something, regardless of whether the improvements are real or not. I do not want to take the chance of reacting! And if I have a reaction sometime... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Pizza In Bloomington Indiana!
silly celiac replied to ladybugpumpkin's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Makes me want to think of a reason to visit people down at IU... I haven't been there in 10 years! -
ARCHIVED Abdominal Pain?
silly celiac replied to Angelkitty's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
What tests have been done so far? I used to get extreme pain on my left side, which usually coincided with sex. Ultrasounds and pelvic exams showed nothing, so it got added to the list of "it's all in her head" ailments, and it eventually improved on its own. The closest I ever came to an answer was determining on my own that it would only occur within a... -
ARCHIVED Letter-writing
silly celiac posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Before I begin writing letters to companies requesting information on their products (I'm thinking personal care products like lotion and such), I would like some input from those with experience doing this. Any tips for achieving the best responses? Are there any letter templates out there to get me started? Thank you!! -
ARCHIVED Calcium Substitutes?
silly celiac replied to Sprue that :)'s topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I take Citracal in addition to a daily vitamin. -
ARCHIVED Help! Always Bloated
silly celiac replied to JessieFree's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm still figuring things out right now with regards to bloating, but I actually lost the bloat for a few days last week (it's back right now). From what I can tell, what seemed to help me was exercising. And exercising is one of the first things I quit when the gluten symptoms were kicking my you-know-what because I just didn't have the energy! But perhaps... -
ARCHIVED How Long Till Your Dh Completely Cleared Up?
silly celiac replied to ItchyMeredith's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Hmm... It has been almost four weeks now since I switched shampoos. I flared up right before that and the blisters quickly subsided after switching. The other factor in the equation... it was "that time" right when the blisters subsided! Now I'm approaching that wonderful week again, and they're increasing again. Perhaps I should look forward to next week... -
ARCHIVED Dexa Scan Anyone?
silly celiac replied to jen2be2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I had one five years before I ever heard of gluten or celiac. I was only 23 and had shrunk 4 inches since high school. Very easy, as the other person said. The person administering the test even showed me a graph of my results right then... although the doc interpreted them in a different way. I have also had several PIXI scans. Easiest tests ever. -
ARCHIVED Healing Garden... Safe?
silly celiac replied to silly celiac's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The shampoo I switched to is Nature's Gate. Healing Garden...? Anyone? Or pointers on what to include in a letter requesting info? -
ARCHIVED Healing Garden... Safe?
silly celiac replied to silly celiac's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I forget offhand what the name of the shampoo is (I'm at work!), but it's some herbal stuff that I got at the natural food store. I've heard that some mainstream products like Garnier Fructis are safe, but I tried that a few years ago for non-gluten-related reasons and hated it. I have really long, thick hair that borders on being wavy, so I'm pretty picky... -
ARCHIVED Healing Garden... Safe?
silly celiac posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Okay, so when I first went gluten-free, I just worried about food. It was too much to try to tackle everything else in my life. Several weeks ago, I switched my shampoo and conditioner... I had known right from the start that I needed to get rid of them (it was a terrible loss after 15 years of the same product!!!), and it was wonderful. ANYhow.... now... -
ARCHIVED Hungry? Have A Burger!
silly celiac replied to silly celiac's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have no clue, actually. It was just something I took from an email with a bunch of cool pumpkin pictures. I didn't even notice right away that the seeds on the "bun" are pumpkin seeds! The whole thing just makes me want a good sloppy burger, though- bun and all. -
ARCHIVED Painful Bms
silly celiac replied to HouseKat's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm still pretty new to all of this myself- about two months into it, but in my experience, the BMs that really suck the life out of me are the ones after consuming gluten. Pardon my bluntness here, but those are the ones that start out painful inside, cause me to break out in a sweat right before, and though they are fast, furious, and easily passed, they... -
I've been making candies for years at the holidays using different molds or cups (a la reeses cups) and always do a homemade Reese's cup. I even have a mold that's the same size. This year will be my first holiday season gluten-free, so I may need to tweak the recipes a bit, but for my peanut butter, I would mix melted butter and powdered sugar with the peanut...
