  1. Quick Summary: I had a possitive blood work and a negative biopsy.

So its been about a year since then and I havnt been gluten free. However, I have really got myself into studying nutrition and raw foods and stuff.

Sunday I decided to try going gluten free just to see how I felt. Some believe if you have positive blood work then you have Celiac regardless of the biopsy. I have been gluten free for 4 days now and I feel sooooo hungry. I think I have been eating more then normal. I always feel hungry. Does this go away after being gluten free for a long period of time? I mean I just ate dinner and its been about 2 hours and I am alrdy starving again. And within that 2 hours I had a salad that did nothing for my hunger lol

So do the hunger pains go away?

  2. Well weather I have Celiac or not back to the topic :)

I just came across this tonight... There is a podcast on youtube about raw foods that has like 30 episodes or something. Im on episode 4 right now. Some of it is a little corney lol but they are giving recipies for all of these high protine snacks and stuff. And guess what... its all gluten free. This may be healthy tips for anyone on the gluten free diet. I havnt got real far but i figured i might as well post it...

    Search Raw Food Episode 1...

With all my food allergies and possible celiac... Im thinking about switching... lol

shows a yummy looking trail mix - i wish it was so dorky lol

If your actually interested in the diet im talking about David Wolfe has alot of good points...

  3. Sorry to veer off your topic, but if you tested positive for celiac and are continuing to eat gluten, you are opening yourself up to any number of serious health issues down the road.

I just dont seem to have all the serious symptoms that alot of people on here seem to have... If I have been eating it for a whole year, I would think it would get worst... Also the symptoms I do have could be caused by other things... Thats why this disease is so hard to classify.

I have a appointment to talk to my doctor on Monday to talk about a world of other things lol. You think I should bring this up again and see what she thinks? I remember her saying there are like 4 different types of blood work that can be done. 2 are more comonly done and of the 2, one is more acurate then the other. They did the 2 for me and it came up negative on the more accurate and positive on the other, also had a negative bioposy. So I guess there is a shade of grey in there because one came up positive...

  4. As someone who had a beef tapeworm, no way would I eat raw meat! I tended to like my steaks on the rare side .... never ate any questionable food .... we can all get tapeworms even if we have not been to third world countries. ;)

Ill look into the celiac thing... :(

But as for the diet... There is alot more too it... Lke i said, dont take anything I said too seriously. Im not providing the details. You cant just go to the store and get any meat and eat it raw. You would get sick lol. You have to get it from somewhere special or something... But im not guna provide any more details about this because I dont have my facts straight. I was wondering if anyone else knew anything :)

There has to be something right about it if all these people can do it and not get sick... lol

Also... if what you say is true about my celiac, switching diets might help me :o, Only reason I thought I had it was because of some dryness of skin I get under my eyes, and inability to gain weight. which I still have... Also I think anxiety is a symptom too isnt it? I have that, I hide it and dont really show it, but I feel it alot.

  5. Hi All!

My IgG was the only result that was high, (158), and the other three were within the 'normal' range.

Im not sure if I follow your specific logic. I would like to know what mine were. What do u ask for these numbers?

My doctor said there are 4 different blood works and they did 2/4 of the tests on my blood and I came back negative for 1 and posative for the other.

I had my biopsy this morning... it was something ive never experienced lol. Ill have my results in a few days.

  6. Hello I am new to this forum. My nightmare pretty much started about 3 years ago. :( I still haven't found out forsure if I actually have Celiac but I know the gluten-free diet has really helped. I still have another issue though and was wondering if anyone else does.....I've tried everything and I am ready to try anything else! I am still having problems going to the washroom  Is there anything that I can try that someone else has had success with. Please help! I've tried fibre with lots of water, flax meal, omega 3 oil, magnesium, prune juice etc. the list goes on!

Drink alot of beer this makes me go to the bathroom nonstop some nights! Try redbridge for gluten free beer.

J/k about above comment. :) Try drinking more water? Could be dehydrated.

  7. I have been following the gluten free diet for 3 days now and have no pain and no bloating. I also feel more energetic. Could it possibly be an allergy without being Celiac? Anyone else have a negative blood test but did have Celiac?

I am newly diagnosed and I talked to my doctor and he said there are 4 different types of blood tests. This is why they are inaccurate unless u like tested positive for like all 4. They did 2 of the 4 when they tested me and I tested negative for one and positive for the other. People disagree but I am going with what a really good doctor told me and he said that having a biopsy done is the only way to know for sure weather you have celiac.

Think about it. Celiac damages the small intestines so if they find damage to your small intestines what better way to know?

PS: I go for my biopsy this thurseday.

    Steve~

  8. Hi, Im new here. I was diagnosed with Celiac via a blood test a week ago. The doctors nurse said my reading was off the charts, and my Doc didnt advise the biopsy, he just recomended a Gluten free diet.

I have been trying so hard the last week to eat right. But I spend so much time studying foods I can eat, and worrying about getting glutened that I am a wreck. I have spent $300 on food. Its mostly very fatening. Dinty Moore stew, Hormel Chili, Fritos and Bean dip. I eat a salad every day. I have messed up three times that I know of in this last week.

I ate a hashbrown at McDonalds because I read somewhere on here that it was safe. Well, MCD's website says different. And I have been cooking in an old Iron Skillet that has cooked a thousand fried chicken meals! So after a week of this stuff I am back to square one.

    This is so depressing.

Thanksgiving is coming up. I cant make myself trust anyones cooking. Im so afraid of cross contamination, or something. How can I eat at my Mother in Laws? I suppose I will take a can of Dinty Moore. Even if she cooks ham, is it a safe ham? Did the glaze have Gluten?

    My question's are:

    - Can I ever go to someones house and eat with them? I mean even if they make a Gluten free entre, how do I know the skillet or pan they used was safe? What about their contaminated can opener?

    - Do I really have to worry about kissing my daughter after she eats, or petting my dog after she eats?

-Am I reading too much stuff on here?

From what I read, I have to get new pots and pans, new utensils, new can openers, and new dish washing tools (scrubbers), to keep from getting CC.

Can I get glutened from soap? From Shampoo?

I cant eat at Waffle House anymore because everything is cooked on the same grill!

    This is all too much.

    PS, about me:

Im a male, 42 years old. Widowed father of one. (Shes 11)

I have had bad IBS all my life. I have had extreme anxiety, OCD, and some depression, (brought on by my wifes death 6 years ago).

I saw a show on TV about Celiac and the symptoms sounded just like me. Except Im not skinny.

So I went to the Doc and got the blood test.

I have not been back to see him again. He didnt advise I get the Biopsy. I feel like I should, but I dont really want too.

I distrust all doctors, since one killed my wife. But thats another story.

How can I live like this? My poor daughter. I am so angry, and worried about this new lifestyle. I have no time for her now. My mind is so full of worry over this. All I can think about is "what I can eat, where I can eat, where I can go, no more vacations", that kind of stuff.

I bought the book advertised on this site, (Gluten free shopping - 20,000 items) It is very confusing as none of the stores are in my area (Arkansas)

Any advise would be greatly apprecieated.

    Thanks in advance.

I suggest having a biopsy. I was told it

  9. Everyone here seems to be on one side of the argument. Dont get me wrong, Id say I am also on this side but I am trying to see why he would say such a thing. Do you think its possible people go a little overboard? Since the symptoms are so broad it could almost look like people are blaming any negative feeling they have on celiac.

  10. I am all new to this and a little freaked out about this topic. Im not gluten free yet but I will be soon. Seems like the majority here is living in a gluten free house hold?!? Now I thought that its only bad if you consume gluten; is this right? I understand that living in a larger house hold it may be difficult to keep things from getting contaminated. But if you are careful about what you eat and set things apart from the people you live with; this is ok right? I live with one other person and I would not be able to make him gluten free. As long as I stay away from consuming gluten and possible gluten contaminated products I should be ok right? Is there harm with just being around it?

I dont agree with making a child gluten free when he or she does not need to be. Thats just my opinion though.

It might be beneficial to start a topic of ways things can get contaminated so people can become aware and avoid it. Is there already one? if not what topic do you think it should go under?

  11. Im just kidding about being an alcoholic but I cant seem to stop myself from going out and drinking light beer. Almost all social events serve light beer on draft and its so hard to avoid when I go out. I understand there is red bridge but when I go out, that is not available. Like when you go to an event or out in general you cant bring it with you to a lot of places. It is really hard to transition your life from going out with friends and family and having fun drinking to completely switching and not being able to do that anymore. I finally accepted the fact I cant eat gluten but not being able to drink with all my friends seems depressing and impossible.

Keep in mind im newly diagnosed and not gluten free yet but lets say in the future; I am gluten free and I go out and drink for one night. Depending on how gluten affects you would you be able to recover and get back to normal fairly quickly or does that take awhile?
