Well I've called my insurance company and since it's not a military physician or facility, the military won't cover it (Go Figure) Ah well.

I live in Ft Meade, MD which is between Baltimore and Washington DC. I would LOVE to go!!! It sounds like it would be so much fun!

The commisary at Ft Meade, MD carries Amy's products, but they aren't the GFWF ones. They sell Van's waffles and Envirokids but they stay out of stock a lot of the time. I have to admit though, the commisary here is a lot better than the one at Ft Sill, OK.

What about Dr. Pepper and Barq's root beer?

My local Safeway (in MD too) carries Pamela's cookies, Mrs. Leeper's Pasta and Meals, and some of the Bob's Red Mill flours, but most of them are the "other" kind. They also carry Amy's products, but not the WFGF kind.

I tried Ener-g's Harvest Loaf and it was pretty good as far as being a bit tastier than the cardboard they try to pass for bread. I've tried the ones from the Whold Foods Market and on our income, I can't pay that much for bread that will spoil in a few days. Right now i'm buying Bob's gluten-free Sandwich Bread Mix and I have to say that it's the closest to regular bread I can find. It's not really the squishyness of the bread that I want. I WANT A REGULAR SIZED SANDWICH NOT A HORS D' OVERS!!!!!!!

I tried the chicken nuggets and fish sticks from Ian's and I wasn't impressed. For paying 6 dollars a box, you would think that there would be some meat in the gluten free breading. I don't know if it were those particular boxes, but it was fish and chicken pieces connected together with breading. Did anyone else have this happen to them? I'm willing to give them a second chance if this is out of the norm.

I live in MD and I was wondering if the large organic/gluten free section was in all Giant stores or in a select few. There is a Food Lion right outside the base here and they carry a lot of the Bob's Red Mill products and a select few of the organic frozen meals. The only place I could find the Amy's gluten free frozen meals are at Whole Foods Markets that are roughly 30 minutes away. Anyone in the area know of another avenue I can try?

I Love:
My Husband-because he tries all my "experiments" and is honest when he says he likes something.
My Son-because he's the comic relief and he'll eat anything.
My Daughter-because she is so understanding and so critical.
My Life-I'm still alive and kicking
Finding sites like this one that have so many ideas and helpful people.
My Beagle-because he is Bodhi, he's my comfort.
Rocking out on my IPOD when I do anything!!
Getting the chance to bake again.
Finding new recipes.
Anything GFWF from Bob's Red Mill (the chocolate brownies are to die for!!)

My favorites are the ones by Jax Peters Lowell. Against the Grain and the Gluten Free Bible. They helped me with getting over felling down and dealing with family who say "Can't you just have a little?". The Gluten Free Bible is the newest and has a whole lot more info in it and Mrs. Lowell has a good sense of humor.

What is Enterolab and why does it seem like that is the gold standard in testing? What do they do when they test? I have taken a blood test that came back inconclusive and had a "Biopsy", but the gastro that I saw said that he didn't see any scarring. I've had an appendectomy a few months ago and the surgeon said that I needed to be retested because from the state of my appendix, I could have been having problems with that all along. Can anyone help me? I have been gluten-free since Jan 04 and I have no idea what to do with all this new info.

I am second generation Irish. One set of Grandparents came from County Cork and the others came from Belfast. The only side that had the symptoms were the ones who were from Cork. They were "country people". The other side that was from Belfast didn't have any signs from celiac disease, but there was Diabetes and Colon and Prostate Cancer. I was really happy to claim all this Irish heritage until I got diagnosed. Now I know why we put so much stock in the potato.....

Hi I'm in Ft Meade, MD. We've been stationed here for a year and I'm in heaven. We're originally from Texas, which is great. We spent 5 years in south Oklahoma, where I was diagnosed with Celiac after my son was born. There are so many opportunities here for food and research, it's astounding! I thought that my life was reduced to shopping at really expensive health food stores in the middle of nowhere and choking down cardboard bread. Here though, I found the Whole Foods Market, Gluten Free bread mixes at the local grocery store, and Bob's Mill. I don't want to go back "down South" now. I have two children who are currently undiagnosed. Shelby is 7 and she has recently been diagnosed with ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome. Brandon is 3 and he's cute and a Holy terror. My husband is in the Army and even though he is of Scottish descent, he had never heard of this until mine came out. I am Irish and there are a few family members who have had symptoms through the years, but none have been disgnosed. I guess that's me in a nutshell.

I'm new to the website, but not new to Celiac Disease and i've noticed that a few of the signatures have the word glutening and a date beside it. What does this mean?

I exercise every other day, Take a hypoallergenic prenatal vitamin every day, and I use Hydroxycut (two tablets in the morning) every day. I have never felt better and I have lots of energy despite being anemic. I talked to my Doctor and she said that the only thing that was in there that was "bad" was caffeine, and she said that would probably help me cut back on the amount of caffeine I have daily. I have and I've lost a total of 25 pounds and 3 inches on my waist. I have no complaints about it at all, but I would recommend that you talk to your Dr. or don't take it if you have thyroid problems.
